Good place to base with lots of activities close by.

Good place to base with lots of activities close by. We didn't spend much time in the town itself as we stayed slightly out of town center so cannot comment on restaurants and such. Good street food. Good grocery shopping to stock up.

We spent 2 full days there.

We spent 2 full days there. The first day we went to the local Mayan ruins of Cahal Peche and Xanantunich and the second we went cave tubing with Bellizean Caving Expeditions. Both were amazing experiences. If we had an extra day we would have loved to see the Mayan city of Carocal which is further away from town.

If you're looking for quiet and remote, then this is your place. There isn't much to do here. Thank God for the Casinos. They gave me something other than staring at the hotel walls to do. Visiting the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich, was great. But you definitely want to take the taxi from the ferry to the top of the hill, if you're not in good shape. Just a little way up the road is a restaurant named Sweet & Sour. The food was very good. I just wasn't feeling the cow foot soup. Lol. Although lots of advertisement says public transportation is available. However, unless you want to spend a small fortune, you absolutely need a car and a working cell phone for the GPS. The people in Belize were very helpful and friendly. It was great that most of them spoke English. This was a huge plus. The poverty here was heart breaking. I'm glad that I had an opportunity to visit. But I doubt that I will be going back any time soon.

The only thing that was horrific about this place was the hair braiding woman whose small shop is directly left from The Spot restaurant which is on the opposite side of the Venus hotel. The woman is violent. She gave us a big spill about how awful my daughters hair extensions were and that she would take it out and do it again. She said she would do it for 50USD. We accepted as she seemed like a nice lady but how wrong we were. She took the extensions out but then said she couldn’t remove the beads in my daughters hair and would need to leave them in. My daughter was horrified so I then had to bite every single one of them out myself. She then cut a three inch chunk of my daughters hair which is right on the crown. We told her we didn’t want her doing it and she bullied us to carry on. She then side platted my daughters natural hair and made a huge plaitted bump and then sowed the hair into the plait leaving a huge surplus of the hair extensions hanging. My daughter was so distraught and started crying and begged her to stop. She then took a 12 inch kitchen knife from her handbag and pepper spray on her key ring and said we must giver her the money. It was such a scary experience. Please please avoid this woman at all costs. We then complained to authorities whom explained she was mentally unstable. They wanted us to file a police report to have her arrested but we just wanted to leave the area.

    Easy to navigate on foot.

Easy to navigate on foot. The market is a must see for especially the food that is available throughout the day. Just like any other place, be careful at night time when walking downtown. We did feel very safe. Have bug repellents ready at night.

Good spot to stay and commute to various tourist places in Western Belize-ruins, market, Guatemala border. Some of our destinations were far enough from San Ignacio that if I did the trip again, would have stayed closer to them versus commuting from San Ignacio

This hotel is everything! From the staff to the location. First, our flight got delayed and we didn’t make it to the hotel until 12midnight. But the hotel staff waited for us and showed us to our room. The next day, we had our continental breakfast (included on our room rate) then the manager, she helped us booked our tours. Also helped us booked out covid test that was done in the hotel. She’s very accommodating and very friendly. We would not ask for a better host. Thank you for making our San Ignacio trip memorable!

Vanilla Hills Lodge is a jungle paradise. Claudia and Franklin were amazing hosts and their staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food prepared by their chefs was delicious. Staying in the cabana surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle was such a fantastic experience that we will never forget. Claudia and Franklin went out of their way to ensure that we had the very best guides on our expeditions while in San Ignacio. I would highly recommend Vanilla Hills for your stay.

Self catering accommodation. Large family room. Use of kitchen. Water and coffee was provided free. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, even collected us from local airstrip for a few $ and also offered to do the laundry for a small fee! Easy walking distance into main town of San Ignacio where there was plenty of restaurants, bars, cafés, huge market on Saturday, smaller during the week. Tour operators collected us from the hotel. Highly recommend.

The location of Venus hotel could not have been any more central. It was supremely comfortable and staff were welcoming. The bonus was the balcony across the length of the hotel, just outside our room, that overlooked the town square. Loved it! Oh, and another bonus, that we took full advantage of, was the free use of the pool at their sister hotel, which was about a 10 minute walk away. We went hard in the morning, then relaxed by the pool in the afternoon.

I loved everything about the property. It was gorgeous and clean. The staff was all so incredibly friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help me and my friend on multiple occasions. The food was 5 star quality, as were the drinks. I cannot speak highly enough of this resort, but I do know that I will be booking this hotel the next time I stay in San Ignacio. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!

The hotel has a lot of potential, as it's in a beautiful old building, right by the river, with a beautiful (despite small) garden. All rooms have a view of the garden and river from the veranda outside the room. The staff tried their best to make the room and duvet tables look nice by decorating it with flowers. Staff was friendly and helpful. The Pol was small but nice for a plunge.

The rooms are very big with a good bed, lots of light, spacious bathroom and you have your own patio with a hammok :) Also the garden of the hotel is very nice and the big swimmingpool is a big plus. Eventhough you are not in the center of San Ignacio, you can reach anything with a few minuts of walking. Staff was also very friendly and helpfull.

We’re a group of 6 friends and we stayed in the guest house. It was perfect. We loved the location - only a 20 minute walk to town or a short cab ride. The property is a garden oasis - the grounds are beautiful and such a contrast to the hustle bustle of San Ignacio. The staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed cool dips in the pool.

Great location in the woods & jungle (although is 35 mins from San Ignacio). Rooms are basic but clean and good beds and bathrooms! Communal area and dining ideal to interact with other guests! Dinner was top notch (3 courses, no menu). Great staff: owner Neil and man of many skills, Jose take care of all your requirements!

This accommodation was prefect from the friendliness of staff to the amazing food. The cabin was big and we loved that there was a swimming pool but the best part was the quiet location and the birds singing. Amazing from start to finish. Highly recommend.
