I grew up in St. John's and it is a great spot for a visit.
I grew up in St. John's and it is a great spot for a visit. The facilities for tourists have really increased over the last 20 years and there are a lot of great restaurants and shops for tourists to experience. The sites in a city that is 400 years old are quite varied and there is ready access to nature visiting sites as well within an hour of the city core.
Pack for pretty variable weather that trends to cooler and damper.

The city offers so much history and with a wonderful presentation at The Rooms. We had a fun screeched in ceremony at Christians with skipper Lukey. The view from signal Hill shows it all. Cape spear and Quidi Vidi can not be missed as well. Especially having lunch at the Mallard Cottage and an Iceberg at the brew company. The waterfront in St. John’s is very interesting and worth the walk.

We stayed at this hotel upon arriving at the airport at 2:30 am.
Shuttle was waiting by the time we got to the pick up point. Great service. Friendly reception. Sufficient breakfast offerings. Great staff in all areas. Perfect for our needs.
Unexpectedly, we spent a second night at the end of our trip when our flight to Toronto was cancelled. Again--great staff in all areas.

Loved the Harbour and the pedestrian mall.
Loved the Harbour and the pedestrian mall. Very hilly, I will definitely be in better shape before my next visit (the unexpected humidity was exhausting, but we made the best of that!)
Everything was close by, very easy to get around.

Best recommendation is: Take the Metro Bus from your hotel to the Pedestrian Plaza on Water Street for shopping and restaurants. It is closed off for the summer and the shopping is delightful. Lots of outdoor patios. We chose one of the outdoor pubs for fish and chips and a local brew. Perfect! Now walk up the stairs at the Courthouse and see the Jelly Bean Houses. Pier 10 is a great place to see the cruise ships docking. Just down the hill from Water Street, this is where the bus lets you off. Catch the Hop on Hop off for lots of sights - located outside of the Alt Hotel on Water Street.

St-John's and the whole Newfoundland is a very unique place.
St-John's and the whole Newfoundland is a very unique place. If you love nature , it is the place for you , yet it also has great restaurants and nightlife and the people there are amazingly friendly and proud of their culture and province . There is a lot of talent from there and the art is amazing .So they will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and bring you the best experience ever. !
I enjoyed the cool vibe of the area and the restaurant and hotel were the very center of all the action. The hotel room was great, wonderful bath and shower! Unlike most other hotels in st. John's Blue on Water has streaming services so I could enjoy Netflix Prime and so on. The comp bathrobe was the cherry on top!
I didn't eat in the restaurant but ordered to my room the absolutely best hamburger I've ever had... there was so much incredible food it was hard to choose just one thing . I will definitely be going back.
Being from British Columbia we looked forward to visiting all 10 provinces. St Johns was the last stop and we enjoyed both the hotel and the city. The staff were very accommodating and rooms were wonderful and spacious. The end of our cross Canada vacation was made perfect with a Lobster dinner at the Keg on the Docks. We couldn't have asked for more.
The bed was so incredibly comfy that we wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel offers shuttle service to the airport, even guests who have early departures. The staff was so accommodating and we have nothing but good things to say about our experience. It was our first airport hotel and first Hampton Inn experience and it won't be our last.
Fantastic hotel, great vibe, great amenities, Terre cafe is conveniently in the lobby, opens at 7am, earlier than most places in the downtown area. My room (queen room) was spacious, the room panel was very convenient with different lighting options. The staff (everyone from front desk staff to housekeeping) was very kind and accommodating.
The hotel is amazing… the lobby is so bright and beautiful. The rooms are clean, modern and spacious. Great central location to all your downtown amenities. The staff go above and beyond to any requests you might have. The atmosphere is incredible and it’s the most amazing hotel in St. John’s!!! can’t wait to go back again!!
Location is amazing. Loved the historical building.
The room, although smaller than some hotels rooms, was perfect. Cozy, very clean, extremely comfortable with super extra touches like a heated towel bar and "woodstove". Will definitely stay there should I return to St. John's. Highly recommended.
There is everything to like here: proximity to everything, cheerful decor, clean, quiet, quality continental breakfast, conversation with fellow travellers and hosts. There is pride in serving up Newfoundland Hospitality. We are so glad to have stayed and would choice to stay again.
Great location in one of the Jellybean Row houses, a very quick walk to Water Street and downtown. Breakfast provided was good, plenty of cereal, toast and muffins to fill up on in the morning. Building and location are generally quiet.
Enjoyed staying in this historic home with antiques displayed. Bill our host was wonderful. It was perfectly located to walk downtown or visit the Rooms, St. John's, the wharf. We had a very enjoyable stay.
Relative new hotel, good facilities, and the staff were very helpful. They promptly replaced the faulty keurig coffee machine we had. Location is near to downtown restaurants and sight seeing.
A great central location (in the middle of downtown St. John's) in a clean and well-kept Jelly Bean house. Smooth self-check in, free parking, and a very good, self-serve breakfast.
Great restaurant and great food. The hotel is a perfect location for a walk downtown and the underground parking lot is very convenient. Thanks for having us.
