First of all do not book this property with breakfast included. You basically just pay too much for toast and butter! Nearby town has very nice cafes. Also make sure your room is not damped like our’s was! It was unbelievable!
They never cleaned our room and had to ask four times for fresh towels! The location is very nice but unfortunately the quality of the hotel has dropped significantly since last time we stayed in it! It was a huge disappointment.

Visiting the lake and taking trips around it on boats was fun. There are a lot of restaurants and bars to visit.
Apart from visiting the lake and eating out at restaurants there isn't that much to to do.

It's a beautiful village with an old world feel and friendly people - the gateway to so many other gorgeous villages and the glorious Lake Windermere. Also, the Windermere post office staff were brilliant in helping me send a couple of packages back to Australia, and the cruise people (at Bowness) helped me with sorting out a cruise, and a lovely couple helped me find my way to Sawrey by walking with me along the gorgeous paths. I loved everything about my stay in Windermere!

Only a layover unfortunately, the drive through was lovely.
Only a layover unfortunately, the drive through was lovely. I passed through Ambleside in the evening and it looked to be a charming tourist hikers/backpackers haven of clothing, coffee and book shops. Plentiful walking throughout the entire area through lovely scenery and full of gorgeous large trees, that you don't see to such size in other parts of the country. Namely the spruces, beeches, and cedars. Adds sense of forestry magic to the area.

Windermere and the surrounding villages are beautiful, we stay in the area twice per year normally.
We love the walks between Windermere, Ambleside, rydal and Grasmere. We also enjoy the high quality cafes (Homeground in Windermere and mathildes in Grasmere) and restaurants (Holbeck Ghyll, Lake Road Kitchen) in the area and enjoy the local produce and whisky/gins (Lakes Distillery).
There are frequent busses between Keswick and Kendal stopping at all the villages.
Very nice and friendly check in. Hotel location is great for Windermere and parking on site which was useful. Hotel reception with the wooden staircase is pretty. There is a sister hotel a 15min drive away in Kendal which had Spa facilities at just £8 for access - great after long walks. Dog friendly too which is great. Breakfast selection was adequate too, and tasted better than most hotel breakfasts. Pricing felt reasonable compared with other offerings at the time we went.
The Windermere restaurant food in the evening was fantastic and not a bad price. The spa facilities while not huge it is one of the best I have used in the UK. Sadly didn't get time for a treatment but still filled 3 hours in there! The room was clean and cozy and there was a lovely touch of a card, balloons and chocolates as we celebrated our wedding anniversary during our stay. The staff were all friendly and I would definitely return or recommend the hotel.
Due to age and health we didn't use spa or pool facilities, but enjoyed the room and terrace views across Windermere Lake. Seemed each group of rooms were built on a terrace facing west, with bedroom doors opening out onto the terrace to sit and admire views, perfect. Also a main terrace runs alongside the dining room with more tables and chairs to sit and enjoy.
Plus the hotel has a good easily accessible rear car park, and easy to link wifi.
This was my first time visiting the Lake District and I couldn’t have asked for anything better, it was way better than what I had expected!
The food that was served in the restaurant was out of this world, the room was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed.
I would highly recommend the Windermere manor hotel to anyway that decides to visit the beautiful Lake District and I will deffo stay here again next time I’m down :)
Excellent accommodation, very good size, very modern and exceptionally clean.
Great location with good access to ambleside, bowness and windermere.
Owner left wine and chocolates which was a nice welcome treat and even dog treats.
We used the choices health club which is included in the stay (not mentioned before booking) really nice pool with spa facilities definitely worth a trip.
Richard and Ada plus all the staff work to high standards to give their customers the highest standard of hospitality. Breakfast is fantastic with lots of choices. Rooms were Immaculate. Hotel is perfectly placed for Windermere and Bowness on the main road with parking either on site or within 100 yards. We will return in the near future.
The hosts are lovely - really accomodating and also give advice on walks and where to go. Breakfast was exceptional each day and highly recommend you have breakfast there.
The hotel itself is in a great location, a short walk to bowness and Windermere town centre. The rooms are clean, plenty of room and comfortable.
The property was very clean and cozy, the breakfast and the homemade cakes were amazing. The location is great since it is close to the Windermere railway station and bus stops, so it was convenient to travel around the Lake District; also walking distance to Bowness. Overall a great stay!
Modern, clean, comfortable room, excellent shower. Couldn't be better for the price.
Even better if, hospitality tray needed a few more tea bags and milks ( or take your own) as one wasn't enough for us.
Great location., Halfway between bowness and Windermere. Would highly recommend.
Breakfast was exceptional. The room was large, warm and cosy. The hotel is well situated as a ten minute walk in either direction and you were either in Bowness on the lake or in the town of Windermere. The 'front of house' greeting, particularly from Liam, was excellent.
The team at the hotel were great, so friendly.
Rooms were beautiful.
En-suite Spa room with huge Spa bath and hot tub. Separate en-suite steam/shower room.
Breakfast was delicious and served in room by choice.
Great location for Windermere and Bowness.
Ample parking.
Beautiful property and location overlooking Lake Windermere. Tom is the hardest working man in the hospitality business and he was a pleasure to speak with. Keep Up The Good Work Tom !
Great location with just 2 mins walk from Windermere Station. The room is very clean and quite spacious. No reception but our luggage can be stored at the hotel after check out.
Friendly family-run hotel who attended to all my needs and cooked a top-hole veggie breakfast for me every morning. The room was clean and quiet, and the location is excellent.
Good location in Windermere and walking distance to Bowness for the lake. The room with bathroom and walk-in cupboard were a good size with a very comfortable king-size bed.
Lovely apartment in the center of Windermere
Communication with stay. Was really good giving details for checking in and collecting keys.
Would definitely stay here again
