Bolzano is one of those cases that are difficult to describe without risking undermining its beauty and complexity. A witness of the conflicts and renaissance of Europe, this Italian city is the capital of the German speaking province of South Tyrol. Located in the Adige River Valley, it is surrounded by hills crowned by castles, and framed by the Dolomites Alps.
After reaching the local railway station, follow the Bahnhofsallee or Viale della Stazione and you’ll reach Walther Square, where the beautiful Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady is located. The shops along the arcaded street of Via dei Portici will lead you towards the market, located in Goethe Strasse. The display of colourful vegetables and flowers encompasses the beautiful buildings, while some of the best luxury hotels in Bolzano are located nearby.
The city is famous for its Christmas Market, but be aware that most of the hotels in Bolzano get sold out quickly during this time! A stroll around the old residential quarter of Gries and a visit to the many nearby castles is a must.
Whether you arrive at the local Dolomites Airport or the larger Verona Airport, check out the Bolzano accommodation deals on Booking.com before travelling!
Characterful town with interesting shops and restaurants.
Characterful town with interesting shops and restaurants. Also museums and places of cultural interest. Cable cars, buses, and trains all a reliable way of accessing the countryside and towns nearby like Merano.
An all year round place - summer and winter.

It was so much better than we expected.
It was so much better than we expected. Perfect combination between Austrian and Italian culture. You could eat schnitzels ánd pasta in almost every restaurant. Not too touristy (we went in September). Within 15 minutes you could go to the mountains by cable car for little money. The mountains (via Oberbozen for example) were very beautiful, wide and quiet. You could take a 100 year old tram in Oberbozen that went through the little villages up the mountains. 100% coming back! Tip: go by train! It was very accessible, we came from Innsbruck which is only a 2 hr train ride from Bolzano, including breathtaking views.

We loved the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology, the MMM Fermian and the victory monument. Oberon Restaurant was an outstanding Pizza place and the staff are friendly too. We stayed at the Roma Ariston Apartments' and we had a great time there. The mountains around Bolzano were super cool and we highly recommend Bolzano.

Bolzano is very beautiful.
Bolzano is very beautiful. The cathedral is simply out of the world and the little roads and side alleys are beautiful. We took a guided tour of the city and could go into mamy pretty courtyards and churches and renovated palaces...

I stopped at St Mary's rooms and apartments, I paid 5 euros for secure parking in their garage. I went down the next morning and found that the luggage panniers on my motorbike had been broken into. Spoilt my time there, as it was supposed to be secure parking, had to spend the rest of my day there at police station sorting it out. Would not recommend this place. Bolzano is a lovely place to visit, but not this accommodation

There was a music festival going on where I could see a lot of people wearing traditional clothing and play music. I also spontaneously visited the theatre which was a good experience. As the city has a moderate size everything is pretty close by. I also enjoyed the variety of food offered which is from typical regional one to italian. I can recommend Humus Bistro and Nussbaumer. And the best is the landscape as Bolzano is surrounded by these huge mountains. I also went to Oberbozen by cable car and did a hike to bee museum Plattner and attended Yoga classes from arise Body & Mind in Yoga room as well as in the park of Mondschein hotel. I also saw a lot of people biking. I can defined imaging to come back and do that next time.
The breakfast is very generous! The host does not smile a lot, but is always helpful to answer questions, and always try his best to make his guests comfortable. Despite the old fashion and simple style, the hotel was maintained very clean and standardized, especially equipped with air conditioners! In summer time it’s something must. At last, with this money, this hotel is definitely worth it, especially with the Bolzano Pass from the host, people can visit museums and taking buses for free! Great value, highly recommended.
The breakfast had a varied selection and was well prepared. The setting of the breakfast room was lovely too, we really loved the greenhouse and Christmas decorations. The courtyard of the hotel was beautifully decorated. The garage was easily accessible. Kudos to the hotel staff, they were so kind to immediately give us a free public transport pass around Bolzano upon our check-in. Although the hotel is not within walking distance to the center, with the help of public transport, we did not feel it.
The charming old but modern hotel with an unbeatable location (main square, close to train station and cable car station to Oberbozen) is probably the best place to stay in Bolzano. Old building, modern interior, huge rooms and beds, insane views (get a room with Walther Square view, worth the extra price) and the nicest staff I’ve ever encountered in a hotel (three receptionists, a breakfast server and cleaning lady, all very nice).
The room was comfortable, big enough for our needs. Breakfast was amazing. We used the hotel as a base for exploring the Dolomites by car, so in that sense the location was perfect - within easy reach of the roads that lead us to the Dolomites. My daughter loved the swimming pool.
The Interspar supermarket 300m from the hotel is also great.
The city ticket(transfortation ticket) that the hotel provide was really helpful for the whole trip while I was staying in south tyrol area. Great breakfast and very kind host and staff. I could also leave my luggages for a while after check-out. absolutely recommend for bolzano tourists
La Briosa is an amazing hotel and a great base for exploring Bolzano and nearby regions. The room was simply superb, I had room to do my work with a great view of the nearby mountains, comfy beds, immaculately designed with beautiful timber and stone. And the breakfast was A+++++
Perfect location in the middle of the city center.
It's not a bad place if you're staying just a few nights. However, if you plan on staying in Bolzano for a while, you might just want to book a hotel.
I would definitely stay here again
I spent 24 wonderful hours in Bolzano. At Parkhotel Laurin everything was just perfect: from the staff to the park itself and - most important - the general atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again.
The breakfast was amazing along with the views in the room. If we were staying in Italy longer we would definitely stay here again! A nice place to wind down and away from all the city life stuff.
Nice apartment in a good location. We really appreciated the Bolzano Card - it really added to our experience! The host was very helpful and had plenty of tips to improve our stay.
the hotel is located in the middle of Bolzano very close to the old city. the rooms were clean and big the breakfast was rich and the hotel has also a very nice swimming pool.
The staff were super friendly and well informed!
The hotel was really clean!
