Xaghra is one of the largest towns in Gozo. Ggantija temples is maybe the best attraction, but the piazza is also excellent place to visit for relaxing evenings. Gozo is small, but ideally you have a car. Xaghra also makes an excellent basepoint for Gozo.

73 In the Square does a mean Aperol Spritz which is lovely in the evening. Coronation Bar just next door has a wide variety of decent food and the local by the glass Maltese wine was pretty good too!
Whilst there are bus services on Gozo for getting around they are not frequent (hourly or every 1.5 hrs) but luckily for me my accommodation was on the Victoria side of Xaghra so I had no issues walking to/from Victoria to the bus terminal. Mind you it's not a route I would in the evening when it's dark as there are minimal footpaths and a very twisty road.
The windmill is interesting enough as are the temples but to be honest I mainly used Xaghra as a dinner and sleeping spot and then tried to visit other parts of the island during the day.
For any pizza fans or anyone who want to try a Maltese Ftira then I strongly recommend Tal-Latini!

Lovely village!
Lovely village! When I go to Gozo, I always lean towards booking an accommodation in Xaghra as it is quite central and pretty much close to everywhere.
However, do note that there is an extremely steep road with multiple bends to get to the village. If you are planning to travel around Gozo by foot make sure to consider this and if you are renting a car, make sure you are experienced in driving enough.

Xaghra was a larger village than I’d expected.
Xaghra was a larger village than I’d expected. Plenty of cafes, shops, restaurants, and various attractions.
I’m fascinated by ancient sites. So Ggantija temple was my main reason for staying nearby, and this didn’t disappoint, with really useful Visitor Centre, helpful guides & loads of information.
Also near to a brilliant beach, Ramla Bay, and plenty of buses - e.g. hourly to Victoria, from where you can get around the whole island.

We have stayed in Xaghra every time we visit Gozo.
We have stayed in Xaghra every time we visit Gozo.
The place is very calm and relaxing, the church is beautiful.
There is very good choice of bars and restaurants for everyone's taste.
The local people are very friendly.
It is central for traveling around the island, 15-20 minutes to everywhere.
Very nice, cordial and helpful hosts. Breakfasts and dinners were delicious. Cleanliness at a very high level. The apartment is different from hotel rooms and has its own unique atmosphere. Behind the inconspicuous wall separating the street from the property there is a charming garden. A quiet and peaceful place, conducive to peace and relaxation. I think that when you stay with Eleonora you can feel the authentic atmosphere of Gozo. We sincerely recommend it. We intend to come back, especially since there is a beautiful, sandy beach nearby.
Excellent location within easy reach of Xagħra square with lots of restaurants and bars. The house itself was great with all the facilities we needed. Great rooms and lots of space. Lovely pool and roof terrace. We had a brilliant time with our 9 month old daughter and would recommend it for anyone wanting something different to the usual hotels. Caroline was an excellent host and on hand to help with anything.
We had the opportunity to stay at The Segond Hotel this weekend with some friends, our experience was amazing even if we stayed one night, the rooms were big, the bed was comfy, and overall we were really impressed by the room.
We also had the opportunity to try Francie's food for dinner, and it was a blast, I personally enjoyed the chicken korma and it was not expecting such quality.
If you want a 1 day trip to gozo, Ta' Karkar is a nice place to stay in. The villa gives a really authentic vibe, the room was good, comfortable and clean. The host was amazing. He was very welcoming and respectful. The breakfast was nice, with classic choices such as toast and jam, juice, cereals, and croissants. He even let us refill our water bottles.
I would go again:)
Very friendly staff which tried to fulfil all our wishes. Comfortable bed and overall nice room with great view from our balcony. Several pools and sun beds which we almost had for ourselves. The hotel is a bit outside the city centre of Xaghra and we enjoyed being in a quiet area. 25 minutes walking minutes from the Ramla beach was good but not too much exercise everyday.
The breakfast room (on the ground floor) was serene. The breakfast itself was abundant, continental style.
Rosehill is about 5 minutes’ walk to the centre of Xagħra where cafeterias, restaurants, and other shops are found. The parish Church dedicated to the Birth of Mary, mother of Jesus, is usually open during the morning. It is worth visiting.
The view is fantastic, the apartment is located in a quiet place, 5min walk from the bus station in case you want to go to the capital of Gozo. The residential complex has an outdoor pool available. The host is a very supporting person, contact him on whatsapp in case you need something.
Nice modern hotel. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept on in a hotel. The minibar was stocked with drinks and snacks and the prices were very reasonable. The hotel had a nice rooftop and pool and was easy to find.
Our stay was perfect. The hotel is super nice and comfortable. View was great as we were on the top floor. Staff were always very helpful. Hotel and room were always very clean. Great value for money. Highly recommended!
I was very happy with Kavarna hotel last time I visited 1 year ago and because of this I've now come back again as a repeat customer. The host is very kind and it's just a really nice relaxing atmosphere to be in.
The apartment was beautiful, huge, and had a nice view on the beach. We spent quite a bit of time enjoying the balcony and living room. If we come back to Gozo, we will 100% stay here again
Lovely little hotel, modern and clean yet super comfy and welcoming. The garden is very pretty and relaxing, and the ponies were adorable. Great breakfast and the server Sue was very kind.
The hotel's location is excellent with no parking problem and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The breakfast is always varied and excellent. The staff is one of a kind.
It was spacious and well-sitiated. Gozo is small enough that any sight you might want to see is within a 15 minute drive. Free parking in front of the location.
Well looked after hotel with nice painting decoration, good location near the beautiful Ramla beach, the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great.
