The town is next to the Waikato river so you can walk along it. They have walking trails also. You can cross the river upstream and visit the huntly power station. There's a lake across the railroad tracks 5 minutes from the town centre where you can picnic or go for a swim.

We walked around Lake Hakanoa. Really interesting walk.
We walked around Lake Hakanoa. Really interesting walk. Good picnic spots. Shame some areas had litter. Had a fish meal at Huntly Fish and Chip Shop. Highly recommend. Lovely people. Lovely service. Food was lovely and plentiful. We ate in.
We went to Lake Puketrini. Would be good place for a walk and picnic.
Unfortunately the Coal museum was closed. There are items referring to the coal mining in the town. They are interesting. some good shops in Huntly.
Parking can be at a premium.

Local tavern that is part of hotel was full of happy friendly people. The town had good food takeaway shops but pity they not facing river. Town is clean and I love the old shop facia. Good variety of small town shops.

Huntly is situated on State Highway 1 between Hamilton and Auckland. It appeared to be a sad town with a very industrial background in mining coal, the power station on the hill is still working. There was a plaque reminding of a tragic mining accident in which several people died.
From the main road, there is nothing that would entice you to pull over and look further.
The town is one Main Street of shops, many of which are food outlets or budget shops.
There is a river running through the the town.
It is only 1 1/2 hours from Auckland airport.
For $99 a night it was a good price an Huntly was a good stop on my heading north. It's not the Ritz, but doesn't try to be be. It was clean and tidy, maybe a little dated, but for the price I couldn't complain. Easy car parking, shower pressure was okay, comfy bed.
This is a really special place, it used to be a maternity home and they have kept a lot of the original features. It was so quiet and really comfortable. The hosts were very kind and gracious. We would recommend Manor Views as a place to stay in Huntly.
lovely view, tranquil. Staff very helpful and polite. Extremely clean and would stay there again if the occasion warranted.Unfortunately Huntly is not a place we would visit often. Just normaly passing through.
Simple. Practical. All you need if you are not in honeymoon. Surprisingly good restaurant, obviously underrated because not many people there. The better for the hotel guests.
Wasn't thinking it would be much as its huntly. But it was better then staying at my x place and I would stay there again. They could use money and do the bathroom up better
Rooms were tidy and a good size. Perfect if you just want somewhere to rest your head. Convenient if you are going there for Huntly Speedway, as the track isn't far away.
Great easy to access location, lovely old historic building, comfy comfy bed. Great use of space when converting maternity hospital to hotel. Easy parking.
I love how quiet the place is and very close to the shops. Staff are very helpful.
I always booked my room every time I visit Huntly. Highly recommended.
