Whakatane is great for walkers with plenty of paths and toilets. Its family friendly and very clean. Pedestrian crossings seem to be missing but the locals were great and stopped at all the courtesy stops. We found some great places to eat and notes the town had more than everything you would need. Impressive little place for a short stay.

Whakatane has a huge variety of shopping stores, eating facilities, bars, hairdressers in fact everything really and for everyone. The Hub which is just across the bridge is another shopping area with Kmart and Briscoe being my favourites but again shopping for everyone. Bunnings the huge warehouse is a goldmine easy to get carried away when shopping there. The walkway/cycling lane along the waterfront is an awesome stroll. Accomodation....heaps to choose from....you have to visit to appreciate Whakatane.

We loved Whakatane.
We loved Whakatane. Wandering around the shops or along the river was lovely. We enjoyed watching the boats and everyone was very friendly. Over the hill at Ohope Beach was brilliant for sea swimming.

I love Whakatane. It's pretty and easy to travel thru.
I love Whakatane. It's pretty and easy to travel thru. I like to eat at the Cobb and co place on the corner and also at Robert Harris. I also like shopping at the Hub and have coffee there as well.
There is not much I would avoid on my next visit which is coming up again at the end of the month.
The hotel manager/ reception was excellent, personally walked us into the room to show the layout of the double suite and I found that very helpful. Stepping into the front door the place was absolutely stunning. It was so Pristine and clean and the room catered to all our needs. The heating was excellent and ideal place central to township. Thank you for the very enjoyable stay and beautiful facilities especially the hot tub 🤗

Reception Ed, is his name he is the best, makes you feel very welcome
So I would highly recommend if ever staying in Whakatane
Stayed here 1-2 nights a week for several months while working in Whakatane. Good budget accomodation with old but comfortable rooms. The receptionist, Nok, would let me check in early if the room was ready. Note that the single with ensuite also has a TV, which the single with shared bathroom does not. Will probably stay here again if I stay in Whakatane.
The staff were so amazing and generous considering the visitors we had, But again so considerate and friendly would recommend to anyone wanting to stay anywhere in Whakatane. We had pre drinks in our motel before we went to our event and they let us on the Table outside and even brought us some light. Thank yous once again for the awesome Hospitality.
This is a great historical type hotel exactly like hotels should be, comfortable, clean, full of character and friendly staff. Absolutely perfect location. This is now our go to stay place in Whakatane. It exceeded our initial expectations from when we did the booking.
This was our first visit to Whakatane. When we visit next time we will definitely stay here again. Big rooms, spotlessly clean, and a very helpful manager. It is about 3 minutes drive from Whakatane CBD.
The room we had was absolutely lovely, clean and immaculate. The location of the hotel was very handy to shops, restaurants etc and though it was on a main road the traffic noise wasn't a problem for us.
We're reasonably experienced travellers and 37 The Landing Motel would easily rate as one of the best motels we've ever stayed at. Friendly staff, spacious accommodation and very clean.
Great location as we were able to walk to dinner and to the Heads in the morning. The staff were exceptionally friendly as well as the hotel cat that came into our room to visit. :)
The hosts were exceptional and very accommodating. Accomodation and room size etc really exceeded our expectations. Would travel to Whakatane just to stay here again!
