Nice little Alentejo town.
Nice little Alentejo town.
Very beautiful to walk around with several historic locations for sight seeing. Paço Ducal and the Castle are the best
Plenty of quality offers to eat, like Craft BBS
Several other places of interest close by, all of which you can visit with the kids
Excellent. Lovely pousada in an historic setting. Conversion and restoration has been done with style and feeling to retain as much of the character as possible. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. A big thanks to Ines for her help. Lovely hot and cold selection for breakfast in an amazing setting. Restaurant was closed when we were there - only open at weekends - but were given a selection of local restaurants in town for evening meal. Didn't use outdoor facilities because of the time of year (end of March) but they looked good.
The room was comfortable, clean and had a pleasant view of the courtyard. The staff was all very friendly and exceptionally helpful. The hotel itself is part renovated historical buildings and part modern but well integrated into a pleasant environment. You can wonder around the hotel and find something unique, old or quaint around each corner. The location is excellent - just steps away from the Castle and Ducal Palace and a short drive to Borba, Évora and Estremoz. Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and bars in walking distance.
This highly recommended property, is a family country home owned by a truly very lovely couple Maria Joao and Pedro. Surrounded by lovely countryside there are chickens, sheep, a beautiful Alentejo Rafeiro dog Oscar, a tiny dog CeCe. This peaceful property is just 3kms from the small, pretty town of Vila Viçosa. Guests have a large well appointed suite that opens up onto a terrace and a swimming pool. Maria Joao prepares a really superb breakfast. We spent four nights and wish we had stayed a little longer. Next time!
The building has some lovely spaces for guests to enjoy. Our suite overlooking the pool was spacious with an adjoining comfortable seating area and nice balconies . The 4 poster bed was very comfortable. There was music available in all rooms . We found street parking near the hotel. Good restaurants, the palace and castle are a short stroll. The staff were very friendly, especially the lady running the breakfast room. The breakfast selection was good.
The rooms have balconies that oversee the internal courtyard which is quite pleasant. My room was huge. The hotel has little nooks and crannies which are delightful. They also leave a 24h self-service area where you can make your own tea from a varied selection of teas, it was very comforting. Breakfast also was a pleasant surprise it had a wide range of offerings.
What a wonderful gem of a hotel! We loved the modern renovation of an ancient building, the delightful indoor and outdoor public spaces and the marble sculptures thand art work on display. Added bonus of complementary tea and cake throughout the day! Breakfast was at least the standard of a good 4-star hotel.
I travelled enough to be able to state that this hotel is one of the best places I've ever been.
There was nothing they didn't think of. Very clean, very comfortable, great staff, wonderful location, tranquil place, ample room. beautiful garden and a rich interior decoration. In one word "Perfect".
Very big and beautifully decorated historic hotel. The staff is nice and helpful, breakfast has a lot of options and the hotel is right next to the royal palace and the castle. 3 restaurants around the corner. Hard mattresses, perfect for me. The hotel has many leisure rooms and a beautiful patio.
The breakfast was outstanding and vibe around the pool was very nice. Dinner was also excellent - we had planned to eat a different restaurant on our second night, but we decided to eat at the hotel again because it was so delicious. The staff were also very nice and helpful!
Dona Manuela was very friendly. The hotel is magnificent. Very good quality/price. The surrounding of the hotel is also very nice. The inside garden with the swimming pool and all the flowers and fragrances was superb.
The hotel is truly classic. Full marble bathroom and large size rooms. Walking distance to restaurants and grocery stores. Very good breakfast. First class staff.
Huge space, well taken care of, clean, comfortable. You sit by the window, and the castle of Vila Viçosa is right there across the street. Will return for sure.
Such wonderful, friendly staff who made us feel so welcome in their beautiful and unique hotel. The pool was a glorious respite from the heat. We loved it.
