    This area is beautiful.

This area is beautiful. It’s much warmer than Noumea and has a real peaceful feel to it. People are much more friendly and helpful. We went on a snorkeling trip out to the reef and some of the best coral I’ve seen. The food at the Sheraton is amazing. Our room and all the things to do at the resort is all you need. And there are not all the extra costs and charges for things like kayaks and SUP.

The swimming pool area was great.

The swimming pool area was great. The main restaurant was not good. The fish was way over cooked. The lamb chop meal was horrible, it was like the chops had been cooked twice and were dry and over cooked. lamb is usually served pink in the middle. The vegetables were mashed up and not nice.

Nice to stay at the Sheraton, nice walks around the area and through the unique countryside and flora of New Caledonia. Unique cycad forest walk is easy and worth doing. Diving exceptional and untouched, just uncomfortable on an inflatable RIB for 5 hours.

Quiet bungalow, simple but very nice and comfortable. Small kitchen with basic cookery, very handy for self catering. Nice deck overlooking greenery with lots of small birds. We didn’t get to meet the host, but communication and instructions to find the bungalow were very helpful - it is not within Bourail, but still convenient location to explore La Roche Percée etc. We were particularly grateful for the gifts of custard apples and lemons. Great stay overall.

A beautiful site, in the middle of a nature reserve with lots of birds. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, without exception. Speaking French is clearly an advantage. The hotel is very luxurious for New Caledonia, but you should expect a different standard than usual for a 5-star hotel. It is true that the prices in the restaurants are high, but that's not unusual (food and drinks are also expensive in Noumea).

This felt like a hidden gem in the countryside of Bourail. The room was impeccably clean and styled, surrounded by a lush garden that made you feel like you were alone in the forest. The pool was lovely and the bar was great. While we didn't eat there, the menu for dinner looked really good.

We loved the location in the country, but close to Bourail with its great museum and Poe, the most beautiful beach! We loved the hosts who shared their knowledge of the area and their history in New Caledonia and made our stay a delight. We also loved their dog!

Great place to break up the journey going north. We especially liked the view from the veranda on to the lovely duck pond and the quite rural setting, but still so close to the main road. Bourail and restaurants are only about 10+minutes away by car.

Very confortable self-contained bungalow with all facilities (except washing machine). Secluded location in private property, but easy access (by car) to Poe beaches and Bourail. Extremely friendly host. And a special mention of the outside jacuzzi.

It was not a hotel of course but for an 'auberge' (a hostel) it was very well appointed and run. The staff were friendly, the kitchen was clean and well organised, the outlook was enjoyable. For a hostel it was tops.
