Location directly across from plaza was brilliant. Walking distance to nearly everything. Breakfast had a good selection but lacked English Breakfast tea, really only had flowery teas. Very small dining room.

Mérida was founded as Augusta Emerita in 25 BC, the capital of the ancient Roman province of Lusitania. Located almost half-way between Madrid and Lisbon, it is nowadays an important historic centre, and the capital of the Spanish region of Extremadura. The ‘Archaeological Ensemble of Mérida’ has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The city was founded in order to protect the Guadiana River pass, becoming the largest city on the Iberian Peninsula. Visigoths, Moors, the Christian ‘reconquista’, and the Napoleonic invasion left their mark too, and the city is nowadays home to the most complete Roman remains in Spain.
Its historic centre displays a mix of all these cultures, with the Roman Theatre and the Roman Bridge standing out. The Alcazaba is the old fortress of Roman origin, successively rebuilt by Visigoths and Moors. Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque buildings, as well as typical cobbled streets complete the picture. Some of the most charming hotels and B&Bs in Mérida are located in the Old Town.
The easiest way to get to the city is flying in to Seville or Madrid, and then by train to the local railway station. Whether you’re searching the best hotels or budget accommodation, don’t miss the Mérida deals available on Booking.com!

We loved Merida!
We loved Merida! There is so much amazing history and it is all very easily accessible by walking. The city’s 17 euro ticket also makes it amazing value. The city is also quaint with cobbled stones, and it is a more genuinely Spanish experience, where most people don’t speak English and costa are more reasonable. I paid 1 euro for a takeaway coffee!

Probably one of the best antiquities museums in Spain.
Probably one of the best antiquities museums in Spain. There is much to see in this city including a Roman bridge, the alcazar, the Temple of Diana and especially the amphitheater and arena. The crowning glory is the museum as well as a Roman house.

The city is very walkable especially along the river and aqueducts. If interested in history the city has done an excellent job at showcasing its Roman history including a wonderful Museum. The city is a living "open air" museum. A combined ticket for multiple sites in 16Euros/8Euros for Seniors. We visited 7 sites.

Merida was a mecca for Roman history.
Merida was a mecca for Roman history. The museum was particularly beautiful with carefully selected pieces on display. It was easy to walk to all the major sites. We loved a gourmet supermarket opposite the museum and the first eatery in front of it. We took the tourist train at the last minute and it was a great way to get a feel for Merida and the location of all the sites.

A pretty, nice town.
A pretty, nice town. I liked the Roman bridge, the river, the sidewalk along the river, the Roman Theatre, amphitheatre, the Iberian bellota ham and pork. I had some good Iberian pork dishes, such as pluma, carrillada... So tasty! People are very friendly!
Perfecto. Everything is great. Professional service. Although the hotel and reception are not in the same building, it was an opportunity to pass through the colorful streets of Merida. Very nice staff worked at the hotel. We arrived earlier and everything was cleaned earlier for us. Everything is clean and comfortable. We also found coffee and water. Very pleased. Merida is great, there is a lot to see and we did it on foot. The hotel is right next to the Temple of Diana. Looks great day and night. We are satisfied and recommend staying here.
My room was really clean and even though I only stayed one night it had all the necessities like pots, silverware and even a coffee machine to stay for an indefinite time. The location was also great as it was very close to the museum (must see).
With all the pluses of the room the service was even better. Noelia approved my request to check in early (4 hours)! So I can get situated and see Mérida and she made sure I understood how to enter and leave the building!
This hotel has excellent location, right on the motorway - very convenient for travel - with petrol station right next door. They advertised 'a Restaurant' but it was more like a 24 hour cafe. HOWEVER, we ate there, it was very reasonably priced, clean, and service was good. The reception is manned 24hours.
Dogs are welcome which was great for us.
There are gardens and a pool but they were closed (Winter).
Never having stayed at a Parador before decided to give it a try. We also wanted to visit Merida on our way down to the south of Spain. The location was fantastic and within easy walking of all the main sights. The hotel was fantastic and truly enjoyable. The restaurants and food were amazing. A brilliant stay that I will remember for a long time.
Very nice hotel close to the highway. We stayed there for one night while traveling through Spain. 24h reception worked out for us without problems. The room was quite big and beautiful decorated in ancient Greece style. Free parking with a lot of free space is available just across the street.
It is great location. Value for money is good. Staff is available through phone always. Room is good, sofa bed is also comfortable and fits 2. The place has all the amenities and we will definitely return here if traveling to Merida. Really close to a supermarket (Dia) and a children's park.
Very cool place in the middle of merida. The host couldn't have been more helpful. We had already bought breakfast for the next day, & then found the basket of goodies! Spotlessly clean, & very well appointed. We certainly recommend it for a great stop in merida.
Place is just top. Every detail thought, including a total domotic control. Clean, tidy and well organised. Owner is an excellent person that provided good guidance on what to visit on Merida. Accept his recommendations
A luxury hotel in the center of Mérida. The reception hall is very impressive. The room was very nice with a really comfortable bed. The roof terrace with a small pool gives a beautiful view of the Plaza Mayor
A quirky and fun hotel, with blackout curtains, excellent sound insulation, and a very comfortable bed. Perfect place to stop for a restful night between Portugal and Spain.
The hotel was great, the rooms are small but confy. The hotel is close to a parking lot open 24h, there are many restaurants and mini-markets in the area.
