The location looking over the mountain & the veggie gardens and chickens at the back. A real sense of village life. The famous walk to the castle stared at the end of the lane. A great location for walkers with restaurants close by at the end of the day.

When we arrived, the host placed us in Casa da Urze 3 as it was just me and my girlfriend and we did not need the extra bed that Casa da Urze 2 had. We were both still very happy with this! The house was incredibly cute and cosy - had a view over the mountains, a lovely fireplace that we lit every night (and which warmed up the house wonderfully and we had a fresh bucket of logs and pine cones to use every evening), we had a TV where we could pair up with my laptop and watch films, the bathroom was pretty and absolutely clean as well, the kitchen had everything we needed, the breakfast that was included was small but filling enough (and we could always ask for an extra bit of bread & etc), the lunch food cooked by the host was delicious, the hosts themselves were very nice and caring and always available, and to finish off, Talasnal is an absolute picturesque gem of a place to come spend a few days in, hiking around through the beautiful natural routes nearby and disconnecting from the busy routine we all feel overwhelmed by from time to time! I will absolutely love to come here again, thank you so much to Casa da Urze and its hosts for this wonderful experience, it was a pleasure!

Well what can I say. The village is wonderful. Such a unique experience to stay there. I stayed in Casa do Sol and it was perfect. Loved having the upstairs balcony. Had everything you needed for self catering but they do have a lovely cafe and Carole and Lily were so friendly. They were the two staff I saw every day I was there but everyone was so friendly. Breakfast was perfect every morning and Lily made the most amazing cakes each day I was there. The is also a small, gallery/shop (albeit quite limited) so if like me you used public transport to get there you do need to pick up provisions before you get there. Easy enough to do by public transport (I came from Porto so train, bus and taxi) so don't let not having a car put you off going!! The staff are happy to call the taxi company to arrange pick up as unless you speak Portuguese it can be a bit tricky to get a taxi. I was lucky enough to do the minature schist house building course with Rita and it was a perfect way to end my holiday .. and the house survived the trip back in my suitcase. Many thanks to you all.

Maria was a lovely host and greeted us with homemade cake and drinks. Breakfast was delicious: cake, homemade jams, bread, coffee, juice, fresh fruits, eggs, cheese and ham. Beautiful property. We didn't realise there was no fridge in the room, but Maria was kind to lend us a bit of space in her fridge.

The main reason to stay here is for walking the national forest trails and visit the Shicht villages which are a wonderful experience, Be advised reaching them is via a continuous, twisty mountain road that can be exhausting, So we only visited one--Candal--which we thoroughly enjoyed. There is nothing in Lousa itself so consider this area a relaxing stop for outdoor enjoyment that is a great and welcome contrast to busy Lisbon and Porto.

The old parts of Lousa on the hill all 100 to 200 years old and all just a few minutes from the hotel but there are few actual restaurants mainly cafes. The impressive church Square and the ballet school building are both near the Octant Palacio Hotel

This location of the house is off the busy tourist routes and is very beautiful. The village and surrounding areas are exceptional. There are very few shops locally - which is great but generally anything you need can be bought in Lousa (12 km from the house) so don't forget anything :-).

Lousa in general needs to up its information game.
Lousa in general needs to up its information game. It was hard to find the tourist office in Lousa and when did find it it was closed.
We were able to get more info in Talasnal but not everything we needed. Tried to walk some trails but maps/trail info was incomplete.

I only spent one night there, in January.
I only spent one night there, in January. Incredibly heavy frost on the car which took ages to scrape off. I didn't particularly like the feel of the town, but that is always down to personal preference. The people I met were uniformly friendly and helpful.
Simply awesome. We found a cozy house, complete and well decorated. We really liked the space rehabilitation!
The air conditioning throughout the house is very efficient and silent, we didn't feel the negative temperatures that were in the city!
Pedro and Marina are very friendly and helped a lot with several recommendations.
The house is right in the center next to a large garden and swimming pool, very quiet area. It's easy on foot, reaching all restaurants and supermarkets! We will return here to explore Lousã.
The house is beautiful, rooms are spacious and well equipped. There is a kitchenette for use in each floor with a microwave, sink and a fridge. The common areas are clean, modern and there are dedicated spaces to children (indoors and outdoors).
The staff was exceptional, kind and always willing to help.
I particularly enjoyed the piano in the reception where guests are welcome to play.
The house in Lousã is central to visit aldeias do xisto. There are plenty of good restaurants within 3 min walk from the house.
Oh what an experience .
apparently most of Talasnal isnt full at this time of year (hotels and restaurants) are not open. So it seemed that the only running place was this place. Moreover, lovely Marisa is living in Lousa and wasn't there at night. So me and my fellow were the only people IN THE ENTIRE VILLAGE!
Since no restaurants were open, MArisa managed for us to have basic staff for dinner and breakfast. The place is כfully equipt
rooms are beautifully designed and painted.
loved the place!
You would never know from the front facade what a modern, and tastefully renovated property Casa Das Condessinhas is. The hotel was lovely, the owner Julia and her staff went above and beyond. Beds super comfy, breakfast perfect (with homemade cake!), a pool (too cold for us to use end of September), gym, and secure, free, onsite parking. Convenient to explore the Schist villages (we went to Piódão and Foz d’Egua) and hiked the 5k circular Talasnal/Castelo Lousã trail nearby.
Perfect location within walking distance to many restaurants, bars, cafes, bakeries, grocery stores and city centre. Large, comfortable, bright and clean apartment with all necessary amenities. Host was extremely helpful with many recommendations for dining and activities. Lousan is a great village for hiking and outdoor adventures and dining. Parking on side, free wifi, smart tv.
Everything about this Casa which is less a hotel and more of a home was wonderful. We felt so welcome and each staff member was caring and well informed and seemed genuinely interested is answering any questions we might have had.
Room and bed were very well done and breakfast was very good. The best value for the money one could possibly have.
Great and comfortable house with outdoor space and a pool for private use. It is in small and quiet village called Foz de Arouce, near Lousã. In the mountains around there are many traditional rehabilitated villages with walking routes linking some of them where you can see spetacular landscapes and taste traditional flavors.
The room was exceptionally clean and loved how it had all modern amenities with a cabinet of utensils and cookware. I would definitely stay here again and for more nights. The proximity to walking around town to explore, find restaurants and even walk to the castle Lousa was perfect.
The hotel was absolutely lovely, and it is perfectly situated for exploring the nearby Schist villages.
All the staff we met were very helpful, and the morning using the electric bikes available at the hotel was very good fun.
Thoroughly recommend.
The stuff was very nice and very helpful and friendly , they gave us a nice gift with bottle of wine. They have very good restaurant and the breakfast was varied and delicious. I recommend bike rental at the hotel , there have good bikes.
We absolutely loved everything about our stay. Such a unique and beautiful experience. The food and service was unmatched. We have stayed at many resorts and hotel all over the world and this may be my best experience ever.
The location in a historic restored village and in a remote location in the Lousa mountains was incredible. The fact that it was also an artist residency was a bonus for us but our primary reason for visiting.
Maria João was a wonderful host. She was so sweet provided everything we needed. You can tell alot of love and care was put into her house. She even gave us a parting gift. A book about the history of Lousã.
Warm reception, fresh grapes to pick from the vines. A short drive to Lousa and other small cities. Very quiet place, with stunning stars and night skies. Very blissful breakfast and peaceful atmosphere.
Delightful little hideaway in a romantic old stone village. Best to drive from the direction of Lousã as the road from the south is unpaved for several kilometres.
Location! Quiet village very close to beautiful Serra da Lousã. Also, comfortable bed, great homemade breakfast. What a view from the swing in the property!
