It has been rebuilt accordingly and has all the comforts of modern conveniences and the charm of the ancient world. Even more charming is the warmth of reception by the owner, Nuh Yildrim and his staff.

We stayed for three nights in a beautiful suite room at Mirsoum Han and it was an absolutely amazing experience! The employees (Davud & Diyar) always welcomed us with a smile. With their kind, friendly & always solution-oriented attitude they really made us feel very welcome. Smallest suggestions for improvement were implemented literally the next day.
Before I move on to the tasteful rooms I have to mention the breakfast. We have been on the road for 2 weeks and the breakfast here has by far been the most amazing! Medina, the lady in the kitchen, went above and beyond to provide us with a different amazing breakfast every morning. She even made special vitamin drinks for me, because she cared for my pregnancy. I would come back here anytime just for the breakfast!
The stone rooms with high arched ceilings are as beautiful & spacious as shown on the pictures. We had a fire place (Davud helped us set it up every night), an amazing copper bath tub, multiple cozy sitting areas beautifully decorated and a very big modern bathroom. We loved drinking the nespresso coffee provided and just enjoying the beauty of the room. Also the lighting in the room is very romantic. You can see in every corner of the hotel, that it is an acclaimed architect’s work. Also, the sitting area outside has a beautiful view of Mesopotamia.
We would warmly recommend staying in this high quality hotel and love to come back.

A beautiful town, completely different from the Turkiye...
A beautiful town, completely different from the Turkiye known by those who visit the coast. Kurdish, not Turkish, with Christian buildings going back to the fourth century and a culture that encompasses many religions and languages. A good base for a day trip (with guide) to Midyat and other local sites. Plenty of restaurants, serving wide variety of foods. Wine shops, selling local wines, but no bars in the old town.
Really wish we had read more before going. Pictures show the beautiful pale-coloured buildings climbing up the hillside but not the fact that the 'roads' are more often steps. Wonderful small narrow streets, a copper bazaar where people were at work, incredible churches, mosques and madrasas - but you need to have good hips and knees!
An excellent Hamam, open for men mornings and evenings, for women in the afternoons.
For anyone interested in early Christianity, in cultural melting pots, or in somewhere unlike most tourist towns, Mardin and Midyat, and the necropolis at Dara, the area is exceptional. Allow about four days and bring sensible shoes.
Good and cheap bus service from the airport, no need to use taxis.

This was the second time to visit Mardin, this time during a small road trip. Mardin is a place were you don not see Western people. Please do not mention it, otherwise it will ruined as other old citys. Atmosfere specicial on the market is like 200years old. Views are amazing, and most important the people.

Mardin is one good medium city not very bussy for turists. There is one old and interesting city with a lot of loveley mosque, houses and narrow street, very different for others places from Europe. I used this location for travell to Dara and Husankyf on Tigris river.

Mardin is beautiful and ancient and wonderful.
Mardin is beautiful and ancient and wonderful. Everyone was so friendly - I never encountered even one person who wasn't kind and gracious.
I think the only down side to Mardin is all of the litter. Although I saw several workers cleaning, it seems the people of Mardin don't understand the impact of throwing you trash out the window, which I saw a lot of.
Nonetheless, I loved Mardin. The history, the people, the general feel... wonderful! I will return!

Mardin is a very interesting city in the East of Turkey.
Mardin is a very interesting city in the East of Turkey. There are a lot of places to visit for a person who loves history, culture and tasty food. People who live there are different: Turks, Kurds, Syriacs. The city is quite friendly and calm. There are a lot of must-visit places in the city center. It is also interesting to visit the close cities, like Midyat, Sanliurfa, Gobekli Tepe.
But I advice not to go in winter. This time it had started to snow right before the flight. So it was cancelled, the airport was closed for 2 days, as it was no ready for the weather somehow.
Great manager and staff. We were sent a message ahead of time to guide us through the maze of steps and narrow lanes to the hotel. The manager called taxis for us and negotiated the prices; he called the driver of our departing taxis to tell us we’d left a piece of luggage in the room. Breakfast was good. The place has been tastefully renovated without losing its ancient flavour. Since we didn’t have good weather, we weren’t able to take full advantage of the terrace and the view it offers over Mardin.
The staff at Merdin Hotel were very kind and helpful. They serve amazing Turkish breakfast which you will it while staring at the gorgeous landscape. Got to say that the Turkish coffee they served me was one of the best of the best I have tasted in all Turkey. The location is perfect, not far from the center yet a bit more on the side, far from the noise. The hotel has a balcony on which you can sit in the evenings and feel the cool breeze while enjoying your cup of tea.
The hotel is in a traditional house specific to the area, impeccably restored.
Extraordinarily pleasant and English speaking staf.
Diverse and very delicious breakfast served impeccably.
All this, from the transfer of the luggage from the taxi (with the help of the donkey) to the extraordinary position and the interior design of the hotel, made us have an extraordinarily pleasant stay in this special city of Turkey.
It would be wrong to say it’s one of the best hotels in Mardin because it’s not one of the best hotels , it’s THE BEST hotel in Mardin ….
Location and accessibility is very important for this magical old town and this hotel has everything in its favour ….
If someone wants to experience a luxurious, magical experience then this is the place to be….
Lovely family-ran hotel that brings together the beauty of ancient space (the building is around 900 years old) and modern design with an oriental touch. Located in the heart of Old Mardin, it was a perfect place to stay.
The owners are very friendly, welcoming and ready to help with anything. The breakfast was really nice, too.
In fact, I did not find the hotel to be at a five-star level for many reasons, including
1- The hotel did not have a private garage 2- The bathrooms were not up to the required standard 3- The breakfast was lacking in many materials 4- The rooms were not comfortable due to street noise 5- The air conditioning was not good
Super nice hotel, in the houses of Mardin. The room was clean and the beds comfortable, rich breakfast and a great view from the terrace.
Super kind staff and they helped us for trips in the surrounding areas.
I highly recommend it!
Her șey için çok teșekkür ederiz 🤗
The breakfast was delicious (one of the best breakfast I had in Turkey!), the place is beautiful especially the view is breathtaking. Location very convenient. Staff, but especially the lady that serves breakfast in the morning, is very nice!
We enjoyed our stay very much. Our host was very nice and helpful. He waited for us and met us on the way to his place, recommended things to see in Mardin and helped organize a taxi for us. The property has a great atmosphere. Thank you!
Well located hotel, beautiful authentic Mardin building with wonderful views. Very friendly and helpful staff. Elaborate and high quality breakfast. If I ever return to Mardin I will definitely stay here again. Thank you Tarık bey & team!
Carra Konagi is in middle of the Old Mardin. It’s a genuine, lovely, clean Guesthouse.
