We recently stayed at Akanthus Hotel Ephesus, and we must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The first thing we noticed was the impeccable cleanliness throughout the hotel. Every corner, from the courtyard and the lobby to the rooms, was spotless and well-maintained.
The service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and eager to help with any request, making us feel truly welcome and valued as a guest. Their professionalism and warmth added a personal touch to our stay.
The ambiance of the hotel was wonderfully cozy. The room was tastefully decorated, with comfortable furnishings that made it feel like a home away from home. The atmosphere was perfect for relaxation, enhanced by the soothing, relaxing music playing softly in the background.
One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast. It was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. Every item was freshly prepared and bursting with flavour, providing the perfect start to our day.
Overall, Akanthus Hotel Ephesus offers a perfect blend of cleanliness, excellent service, coziness, and culinary delights. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The hotel was very close to the Basilica of St John's and easy walking to all the sights in town.
We were very happy with our room, it was super clean, the decor was beautiful with lovely fabrics, and a little sofa in the bay window. The room had plenty of storage space, a fridge, kettle, safe and TV.
The bathroom was also attractive and well fitted out with good shower, lighting, hairdryer and plenty of towels. Toiletries were provided such as soap, shampoo and shower gel.
Breakfast was excellent. It was a buffet set out on a counter in the pretty courtyard garden, there was also the option to sit inside. The selection was delicious including different breads, fruits, cereals, conserves, cheeses, olives, salads, and dips, a cooked pastry, cake. Plus eggs cooked however you wanted them, and tea or coffee. Each day it was slightly different and the owner even said that we could make a special request if there was something special we wanted, but honestly it wasn't necessary.

Location is amazing - on a hill, in a peaceful area next to a nice village. Accommodation is perfectly maintained, all authentic vintage furniture is in great condition which creates a sense of time travel in this hotel. Food was good and the view from the restaurant is breath taking. A great place to spend a couple of days away from the hassle and enjoy the nature.

This house is super clean! The host is extremely helpful. He speaks English very well and if you are not sure about something, he immediately calls his friends in another part of the city to check the reliability of information from the Internet. You can count on an exceptionally good breakfast.

Good buffet dinner and breakfast. Willingness to change our room when it was found that there was a bird nest right by our AC outlet - the babies WOULD HAVE DIED if the AC had been used. I communicated with the management, and they assure me that the pipe will be deflected, or the room not used until the baby birds have flown.

The hotel was amazing. The Host is very kind and friendly, available to give us directions and advice, such as where to dine (really good suggestion!). The room was spacious and characteristic, very Turkish style hotel. No parking problems. The hotel is located in an area with many restaurants, bars and other facilities. Breakfast is with fixed dish (no possibility to choose from a buffet) with bread, olive, cheeses (yummy!), eggs as you want... so we didn' starve! :-) recommend

The apartment was very quiet, the balcony offered a view to remember fondly, the people in town so friendly and helpful. We ate twice at the favourite restaurant Ali recommended and we did not regret it. We travelled to Ephesus and selected the inclusive ticket which was 52 euros and it was worth every penny. Plan 4 to 5 hours, go as early as possible to avoid the crowds. We were there at 8:30 and the Firmin the parolier! By the time the crowds started we had walked the entire sight and avoided the heat.

We spent 3 days - one day in Selcuk ( there are 3 sites including Ephesus Museum worth one day) and one day doing Ephesus with a private guide( excellent and picked by the hote) and make sure you do the Terraces( many tours don't include it) and finally you can do 3 amazing sites 1-2 hours away - Piriene, Milietus and Didyma ( very few people do this but worth it). The hotel staff can help you

Smaller and less touristy with locals attentive to your need and willingness to help. Ephesus Archeological Park was the highlight of the visit. There is no dearth of choices for eating - from local Turkish dishes to Burger King. Selchuk is more convenient to stay as beginning from morning you can at your leisurely pace cover St John's Basilica, Artemis Temple, Ephesus Archeological Park and Virgin Mary's House all in one day.

we stayed in Sirince.
we stayed in Sirince. An antique village in the mountains outside of Selcuk. A 19th Century experience in small town Turkey. Bring good shoes for steep hills and uneven ground. Good natural foods from local farms. Expect an authentic experience.

I’m not sure why anyone from away would come to Selcuk...
I’m not sure why anyone from away would come to Selcuk unless they were there to see the antique ruins of Ephesus. That is certainly why we came. If you are in Turkey- I suggest it is a must see.
Ephesus is one of the most excavated sites in the world. It is humbling to see how much as a civilized culture we have forgotten- or forgot and have had to rediscover over the millenniums.
That said, Selcuk had decent dining options, and other attractions like the Ephesus Museum (where the artifacts are housed), and the Saint John Basilica which are fantastic. Both are blocks from the Akanthus hotel (which I reviewed separately and highly recommend .

Lovely town, the people were very friendly and helpful.
Lovely town, the people were very friendly and helpful. Easy to go around. Saturday has a fruit/veg, utensils market behind the bus station. Bus station in the centre of the town. Nice restaurants and good food and prices.
Felt at home from the moment we arrived. Beautiful hotel situated in a quiet cobbled street with outstanding views.
We received a warm welcome from the friendly staff and Argos the hotel pooch who took a shine to us and even tried to sleep in our room. We were given a free upgrade to the honeymoon room, immaculate and with great views from the bay window.
Food was great too, we had lamb shanks in the evening and a huge Turkish breakfast. I'd go as far to say this is our favourite hotel in Turkey.
We loved the lovely Selcuk wall decorations and ottoman furniture as well as the leafy cozy courtyard which serves as the dining area. The charming hotel is situated in the historic quarter of Selcuk town, in a quiet bougainvillea filled neighbourhood a few streets from the basilica of St John. It is also quite close to Ephesus. There are quite a few pocket-friendly dining options about ten minutes walk away. Breakfast on the site is served on the table and is freshly prepared and ample.
We loved the people here, the staff was so kind and helpful. The breakfast was amazing, so generous and delicious! One of the best we have had in Turkey! We enjoyed the decor of the restaurant, it made me happy just to sit and look around. We had a very nice dinner there too! The room had a comfy bed and a very nice shower. I liked having a mini fridge and electric kettle. The heat worked well when needed. Charming bed linen and mosquito netting drapes.
We'd been tossing up staying in Izmir, Kusadasi, or Selcuk, and we were really glad we chose this hotel in Selcuk. The staff were really nice and the hotel was super convenient to both the town and the attractions. We ended up renting a car and had been a little concerned about parking at the hotel, but we ended up parking right out the front each time (along with a number of other people who'd clearly rented cars as well). The room was lovely too!
The hotel is located in Selçuk which is very convenient if you are planning to visit Ephesus. Also it may be ideal to spend a night while traveling with car to/from İzmir airport. My room (number 6) was quite big, had a very nice decoration with a big bed and a nice balcony. Hotel has a terrace with a magnificent view which you can take a drink and relax, loved the atmosphere.
Beautiful hotel, warm staff, wonderful breakfast, great lounge spaces by the pool (which was a bit cool for our delicate selves). Located right next to the (ruins of the) Basilica St John, and 750m walk from the Temple of Artemis. A short walk down the hill into “downtown” Selçuk. Bed comfy, great shower. Lots of clothes storage, a safe for passports etc.
As for the hotel nice boutique place. The room and the hostess were good. Not much facilities to expect. Since the city is very small. You can do most of the sightseeing on a day trip from any other location. Not much to dislike on the hotel but more between selcuk vs other towns
The garden is beautiful and hotel interior gives you antique yet authentic feel. The best part is the staffs, the manager Mehmet and chef Abidin are always welcoming you with enthusiasm and big smiles. Would definitely come back and stay here if I’m around this area again.
Room was quiet, clean and comfortable, probably the only hotel we stayed in Turkey where we didn't get woken up by the call to prayer! Lots of street parking available. Nice breakfast on the terrace and a friendly dog.
The place was nice and clean and above the village with beautiful views. The breakfast on the patio was the best breakfast we have had in Turkey so far. Everything, including the bread and jams were homemade.
Super comfortable bed, good curtain that blocks light (difficult to find in Turkey). Call for pray couldn't be heared, so we could sleep in. Nice breakfast and easy to park in the street around.
Little Italy in Turkey. very nicely maintained. the view is “eye candy”. very good restaurant- we were pleasantly surprised with food taste and service.
