We loved the location and the staff was great! We also thought the hotel was a great location and very nice. Our room was very dark and located so we couldn’t open the curtains. We were provided with a reading light which made all the difference and should be in every room!

A large bungalow unit in a jungly area away from any other buildings and a short walk away from the lagoon. The bed was large and comfortable, the room was clean and any requests I made were attended to immediately. There is a lovely dock and palapa in the lagoon area along with other areas on land to lounge and relax. The room is cool and quiet with decent extras to make your visit comfortable.

The property was great! MBH is about 5km away from the center of bacalar, which makes it perfect if you're looking for something quiet and private.
The property is quite large and even has biking trails to ride one, kayaks, and paddle boards for free. Bar has really good drinks, food is great,i and I would highly recommend having a day out on the dock and trying their Potatoes and wings.
Private pools are also heated, which is great, wonderful views of the lagoon from the balconies and stunning sunrises, reception staff was really great as well as the bar and restaurant staff. Bacalar taxi service is also very responsive to get you to town in the area the hotel is located.
Highly recommend and will be back.

The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing.
The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, kind and gracious. The restaurant options were remarkable considering the small size of the town. We didn't explore much outside our hotel and Centro Bacalar, however there were many options for great day trips and tours nearby. It was easy to fly into Chetumal and take a taxi to Bacalar.
We ate many times at Xant Ha since we stayed at the Maya Bacalar Hotel, and it was fantastic! El Manati had fantastic food and the art gallery with gift shop was a bonus. La Playita has incredible atmosphere right on the water and the service was excellent. Food here was just OK. We had a great time getting to know the owner at Sweet Child of Wine, and she served us tasty tapas as we sipped local wines. Enjoyed our meal at Nao Sushi, great location on the water.

It is a beautiful lake located close to Chetumal. The tour on the lake takes you to the different cenotes, with time to swing in those colorful waters, it is really beautiful.
We found a nice restaurant called Waah, the food was delicious, all dishes are prepared from scratch. Excellent.
The city is small and peaceful. There is a fort San Felipe to visit.

Bacalar is a small town, not much to do, the lagoon is beautiful but the tours are expensive and with time the massive turism will damage the lagoon. They don't have the infrastructure to protect nature from garbage and people waste.

I had love every minutes of my stay.
It s easy to walk around.
The hostel Lahar douwtown has a super friendly vibes and it really made it fun to be in Bacalar.
Best place we stayed at on our Mexico Trip. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Bacalar. We had the best welcome by the friendly stuff, they really rook care of everything we needed. The photos listed for the property don’t even do justice of how amazing the garden is. The rooms were super nice and clean as well. And there were so many smaller details that made the stay special. Definitely 10/10 and super happy we stayed there.
I liked my stay at Hotel Casa Poblana. The room was clean, quiet, and spacious. There is hot water for the shower, a rod in the closet area for hanging clothes, benches at the ends of the beds, and the windows have screens to keep flying insects out. There is also a deck outside with comfortable wood chairs and a view of the lagoon.
The owners responded to my questions quickly. If I come back to Bacalar I would choose this place again.
We were traveling through Mexico with 3 small kids and this was our most favorite accommodation. Spacious appartement with a great view over the lake. Only 3 cabins so a lot of privacy. Also direct access to the lake via the private dock. Paddle boards are available and for any food or drinks the restaurant of the campsite is just next door. The owners are super friendly and will help you with everything you need.
The place is magical paradise in the middle of the jungle, which makes it very unique and definitely the highlight of our stay in Mexico! We loved the sunrises at the lagoon and the hangouts at the dock. The lush greenery makes it chilly during the hot days. We loved that they also had vegan food options. The cabins are simple yet beautiful, with a roof window which lets you see the stars at night. 12/10!
loved everything about this place, they made our honeymoon extra special.
incredible food, service and design. this was our top hotel in Mexico and we can’t wait to come back one day in the future!
the hotel is immaculately clean.
our room with partial lagoon view was incredible, with an outside bathtub. the lagoon view is a must!
food is amazing
Fantastic old house converted into a hotel. Very nice location, big room with a huge and comfortable bed (not common in Mexico). Super quiet hotel, great to rest and chill in wonderful bacalar. the hotel it's family owned, which is always very nice, and was very clean. 10 minutes walk to the centre of town and 2 great cafes for morning breakfast.
This place is the best! The owner Rodrigo and his father Rafael want to give you the best time in Mexico. Great tips for visiting Bacalar, free laundry service (with care), they even brought us apple pie and fresh herbal thea! Also free bike rent here. One of the best price quality locations in Mexico we think.
Highly recommended!
Amazing place to stay! Also really good food in the restaurant. We ended up eating there everyday and loved it. I would recommend to book a taxi to Kohunlich. The Maya temple is only 1 hour from the hotel and beautiful, with almost no tourists, It was the highlight of our trip to Mexico.
brand new facilities, beautiful rooms and restaurant. great breakfast and really friendly staff. I stayed at another hotel in Bacalar that was more expensive and was supposed to be nicer, but Blue Palm is 10x better because of the quality of the rooms, staff, and experience.
Really cool property. One of my favorite things was to walk down and lay by the lake under one of the properties cabana’s. Not far from jaguar (best place to eat in southern Mexico ). You are a short taxi drive ( about 60 pesos) from town. Get a room that has a water view.
perfect hotel for a lovely stay in Bacalar. wonderful facilities, very spacious and comfortable room, great showers with a very generous atmosphere.
very helpful staff, can arrange all the activities you’ll look for, great breakfast as well.
Great staff, lovely property and good location on the lagoon. It is about a 20-minute walk into town but still close enough to walk to dinner and back. Taxi fare is very cheap. There are also good restaurants that are closer to the hotel.
One of our best stays in Mexico, the place is very green and beautiful, you feel like in the middle of the jungle with cicadas, geckos and birds singing. You have access to lagoon and kayaks, perfect place to do nothing and relax
The location was great only a block walk down to the boardwalk and a couple more block to the ecological entrance to the lagoon. The included breakfast was great! Hotel has a nice rooftop pool as well as sun loungers and tables
Overall place is oki, room are spacious but not too big.
Internet working pretty well - positive surprise as most places we stayed in Mexico had issues with internet.
Option for early check out - we did it around 6.30am
The room is very small and very dirty, also the sink is in the middle of the room and not in the bathroom. There are a lot of other good and cheap hotels in bacalar.
Do yourself a favor and don’t go there.
The hotel was kind enough to give us a free upgrade. The staff was super friendly. The rooms are probably the most comfy we had in Mexico. Air conditioning was quiet and perfect.
This Hotel has the most helpful, friendly owner you can imagine. The rooms are cute, very clean and quiet, which is uncommon in Mexico in my experience.
