We were here for 3 nights, we arranged check-in and check-out ourselves to our full satisfaction, upon arrival you just fill out the form and send a photo of it. The apartment is fully equipped, including a washing machine, microwave oven, kettle, toaster and kitchen utensils. The location is ideal for trips to Santana and nearby levadas. Parking is directly in front of the house. Wifi without problems :) Thank you

Very nice and helpful staff. Free eggs, vegetables and fruit every day. Very interesting garden/farm area to explore. Cozy indoor fireplace. Chill areas outside. Big kitchen. Great for cooking your own meals. The owner was also very helpful with getting a ride to different locations. Thank you, Gonçalo! :)

Depends on each individual expectations, this is not a noise place with nitclubs, but it is very good for relaxation, countryside but wonderful, people are going earlier to bed and is so peaceful, you can find diferit restaurant on the village with a lot of options, I highly recommend it if you like the tranquility and nature

The hotel is very pleasant.
The hotel is very pleasant. It is good to be together with nature and with beautiful views over the sea and mountains. However, check-in took a long time, we waited 1 hour and a half for them to prepare the room, and when we got to the room, there were no pool towels, we had to ask at reception. Another situation that I didn't like was the booking of the wine tasting and visit to wine house. We were refused the wine tasting because we had already checked out at 12:00h. So we asked if we could do it before check out and they said yes, but we got there and nobody showed up.

Don't stay in Santana longer than 4 days and make sure you have a rental car to get to all the levadas easily. The restaurants/cafes in Santana are not that good/nice. The only tourist attraction in Santana are the famous Santana houses and the nearby hiking area Queimadas.

We made the mistake of not hiring a car before we got to the hotel. We figured we would see what Santana was like and then hire a car locally, this was a big mistake! Once we got to our hotel, it was clear that we would need a car to get around as nothing is close or easy to get to. We're super active people but local hikes are 30 mins just to get to. We were told it would be £630 to hire a car for 5 days. Our advice would be to hire a car ahead of your trip.
Santana is beautiful and has such a variety of things to do and see. Other advice would be to not judge a book by its cover when it comes to restaurants, we ate the best stake in a tiny little restaurant that looked pretty grim from outside.
You probably wont want to spend all your time in Santana but its a great base.

It is a lovely, peaceful and relaxing place.
I wanted time to chill, and Santana did that.
Lovely scenery.
Eat at the Serra e Mar
Don't bother with the tourists traditional houses, there are plenty of genuine ones in the town, some very rustic

We love Santana in the winter.
We love Santana in the winter. The tourists are all in Funchal, so you have the place for yourself.
Santana is ideally placed for the best hikes in Madeira: Pico Ruivo (at least 3 different hikes start here, all top-class), Queimadas with its amazing hikes and others. Also a short drive to the airport.
There are some great restaurants in Santana and the adjoining villages and all the services you may need.
The apartment was perfect for my family 2 adults and 2 kids. We had everything we needed. The location is easy to find and the communication with the host was perfect.
Having the opportunity for self check-in was very important as we arrived late in the evening.
The supermarket is in the way to the apartment in Santana.
Car rental is needed and parking place is available.
It is situated in the middle of nature.
From the location we drove between 30 min-1h:30 min to the important places of the island.
The host is incredibly kind and ready to help anytime.
The location is perfect for Pico ruivo and Levada de Caldeirao verde. Santana is pretty, in the middle of nature and fresh air. We had a shopping mall and a gas station really close.
The air conditioners in the 2 bedrooms help to cool down the apartment because the temperature outside is hot and a bit humid.
The key box made our arrival easier, we were independent with the time we arrived and left the apartment.

The room was clean. The hotel itself is nice. Owner was very helpful and friendly, adviced, what to visit nearby and where to eat. The room size was very small, but it was not a problem for us. Every morning we were awakened by the crowing of cocks in Santana, which was so nice to me! :D
Well placed base for hiking and in general well placed logistically. Great snack bar close to the hotel - Adega do Compadre!
A very nice, newly furbished flat, a 15 minute drive from Santana and close to the Caldeiro Verde levada trail. The kitchen was well-equipped and a washing machine was provided as well. Trouble-free parking is available in front of the house. The host responded to our messages almost instantly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely come back again.
Very comfortable and spacious accommodation in the village part of Santana. Big living room with fire, large terrace, fully equipped kitchen, two full-sized bedrooms. Two kilometers to Santana center. Very good base for Ruivo ridge and south-east part of Madeira trips (Porto da Cruz, Machico, Canical, Ribeiro Frio are within 30 minutes by car).
we really liked the Casas de Campo. The staff were great. The breakfast was quite good and included items baked by the owner. The bed was comfy and the living area good. Santana afternoons and evenings can be cooler when the clouds come in but the heating took the edge off quickly. The kitchen was simple but adequate for meal preparation.
Everything about the suite was fantastic. Wish every hotel was this well thought out and functional. Great view, great shower, great kitchenette, great cat. Thank you for having the heat on, nights were still chilly, and not everyplace in Madeira did!
Casa do Manuel was clean, spacious, and had a comfortable bed. Fully equipped kitchen with everything we needed. Private terrace which was perfect for eating breakfast in the sun. Walking distance from "downtown" Santana. Friendly and helpful hosts.
Good spot for relaxing after a hike. Beautiful scenic views. Doesn’t matter if you have a sea or Mountain View. Both are great. You can do some hikes from the hotel. Agua d’alto or Cascada Verde. Also beach and a big supermarket are close by.
Such a nice place to rest and sleep in the quiet country side. Apartment is really big and clean and has a washing machine. Host is super friendly and welcomed me with wine from Santana and lots of cookies. I absolutely loved it
fantastic hotel. our room was overlooking the wineyard, clean, cozy & well thought-of. The staff is very friendly & welcoming, the food was amazing. Great amenities (indoor pool, jacuzzi, game-room with table-tennis & pool).
It is a nice, clean and well-kept house at a walking distance from Santana. The owner was extremely friendly and responsive. At our arrival we were welcomed with a bottle of Madeira wine and traditional cookies.
The view from the balcony is wonderful and the rooms are quite spacious. The location is beautiful, but you would need a car to easily go to Santana or other villages. The location is good to visit PR9 and PR18.
The hotel was very basic but comfortable. The hot tub was not working and the pool was not very clean nor inviting. The town is lovely. Breakfast was also very basic. Overall we enjoyed the stay.
It is a nice place, old in some way, quite, charming, friendly staff, but I can't say that is not as a 4 star Hotel , when I compare to other hotels we've been.
