The hotel is perfectly located on the one of the best beaches in Costa Brava. Safe and well kept peaceful and beautiful place, surrounded by amazing nature, walking paths, just a short walk from L’Escala with all its charming restaurants and bars.
I love this hotel, it’s our second getaway here and it’s a great experience!
It’s also dog-friendly so we could take our chihuahua with us.

The room had a balcony you could sit out on, and right down the street was the shore. From there, it's a beautiful walk along pedestrian paths to the Empuries -- just follow the shore. The (surcharge) breakfast was beautifully laid out, with outstanding variety of pastries and staples -- and was fun to eat. Lobby was stylish, reception desk was friendly and professional.

L'Escala is a lovely town, we stayed in the old town at the northern end which has more charm and ambience that the newer part near the port which is more like a standard resort with large holiday apartment blocks. The standard of the restaurants in general is very good. To really appreciate the locality it probably is best to hire a car. However, it is possible to enjoy visiting L'Escala without one also. We visited Figures, Girona, the Roman and Greek ruins in Empuries and also the pretty little village of St. Marti D'Empuries without a car.

This was my fifth visit to l'Escala.
This was my fifth visit to l'Escala. A lovely town, great for walking/cycling excursions. Lots of beaches, woodland and the ruins of Empuries. Coastal walks to the south, old coastal defence bunkers, secluded coves...there's plenty to do and see here. A wide variety of restaurants and bars, all within easy walking distance. Well worth visiting.

Very nice sea, especially for those who like snorkelling.
Very nice sea, especially for those who like snorkelling. The deep sea offers you various kind of fish who just do not escape from you. I had also seen this kind of fish friendship in Hurgada (Egypt). Very nice spot to moore for yachts. The next time I'll hire a yacht and moore in this bay. The nature is wild, windy and mostly rocky. The only sand is accumulated inside the bay where people enjoy sunbathing and swimming. The vicinity of L'Escala is plenty of attractions. One can climb to tower of Montgo (Torre de Montgo) to see the bay from high. Spectacular view. The restaurant Can Miquel is one of the best in the bay, but one needs to make a booking at least from 2-3 days before to take a table in outside.

I like the place b/c it was clean, comfortable and very peaceful ambient. The kitchen had the appliances needed for a short stay. No oven though. I didn’t like that we didn’t have cleaning time at all b/c they only provide once a week. You have to clean the room and tan out your trash every day. No clean towels also… you have to wash them. It was about a 1.5 km way to the beach and to downtown.

The property is very well situated.
The property is very well situated. We were delayed in reaching L'Escala and had to check in very late - around midnight. The host was very helpful and supportive and made our check in experience as smooth as possible. The beaches are walking distance away, there's the main beach just 2 minutes away but if you walk around 15-20 minutes along the coast there are many hidden gems. A lot of bars and restaurants that are open late within 3 minutes walk. Great ambiance and the locals are very friendly.
Staff very friendly. The room had everything and was very comfortable. Swimming pool was excellent. Life guard on duty during swimming pool use at the hotel, reassuring for pool users. Pool table and a relaxation area for guests available for reading etc. Breakfast was good, only item missing from the breakfast is the addition of eggs, in my opinion, even boiled eggs and this would make the breakfast selection much better. Great location right near a beautiful beach and the park is also right beside the hotel.
Room was rustic style but luxurious. It was separate from the main building which also seemed equally beautiful. The breakfast was a stunning buffet of fabulous fruit, sweets, meats and cheeses. Very high quality. We had a fabulous meal at a reasonable price. Public transport from Girona where we flew into - infrequent but very comfortable and cheap. 2-3 minute walk to hotel from the bus stop. 10 min walk to the beach.
The location of the hotel was fantastic. Views from the hotel are right over the sea, just lovely.
The staff are a credit to the hotel they were all really nice and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the rooms spacious. Wi-Fi is good in all areas.
There are also plenty of sockets in the room as well as USB sockets.
Hotel quality bed and bedding.
Very comfortable bed
Small but functional lounge area with a big decent TV should you wish to watch it.
Very responsive host when we had a problem getting the heater to work
Nice terrace but at this time of year gets very little sun
Easy private and secure parking
I have to congratulate Nuria and all the crew for such an Amazing customer service! Its a 1 star hotel but the girls deserve a 5 star rating. Caring, friendly, went above and beyond! Nuria respinded to my countless inquiries super fast and was always willing to help.
The 2 gentlemen (at the reception - I think they are the owners), are so kind and attentive. Everytime we have stayed there, we felt comfortable and they have done their best to attend our needs. The hotel is very clean and super close to the beach.
stayed at this hotel before upgraded to large double room, balcony with a sea view at an acute angle the desayuno(breakfast) is amazing , extensive choice ,family run hotel prepare their own anchovies , you must try them hence really good value
This is an absolutely beautiful hotel, in a wonderful spot, right at the beach. It's quiet, peaceful, ecological, with great food and very friendly staff. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to use the spa facilities, but they looked great, too.
A relaxing and quiet place. Staff were friendly. Maria was very accommodating, very helpful in all queries and requests that I had. All in all , my daughter and I were happy with our stay in Hotel Riomar.
Everything about this hotel was superb. If I could give it 11 stars out of 10 I would. The hotel is very comfortable, extremely clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Room was fine. Beds were very good. Views of the sea are limited by several buildings. We stayed in late Spring, the area was very quiet, but probably a lot busier in Summer
Staff were lovely 😀 Hotel, room, facilities were spotlessly clean 😊 Very comfortable 👍 Would recommend 😘 Also a few English tv channels (not just the news) 👌👌
