Accommodations we found in town at short notice was good.
Accommodations we found in town at short notice was good. Friendly, helpful folks. Grenfell centre has two jamb packed historic site. There are a variety of hiking trails. A couple of good eateries plus a cute little coffee place as well as a Timmy's. Northern Adventures Boat tour and visit to the Lighthouse were well worth the trip especially because there were icebergs and whales around. Amazing place.

This is a small town, but the biggest, close to the L’anse Aux Meadows National Park/Viking village. The isn’t much to do here except visit the Grendel Museum & heritage house (closed the day we were there). There is only 1 very small bar in town if you want an alcoholic drink. We used the town as sleeping quarters for our visit to the park. Grenfell exhibits were amazing and more should be known about him. We ate both nights of our stay at the Lightkeepers Cafe, which was amazing. This is open seasonally so check before going.

We arrived late in the evening around 6: 30 so were rushed to get something to eat and get back to the Wildberry Lodge before the moose came out. We did enjoy the Viking Heritage park and souvenier shops the next day

Unreal beauty and L'Anse aux Meadows and area deserves a full one day visit. Loved the boat tour to see the whales and icebergs and Fisherman's Point is breathe taking! Should have spent at least 2 full days in area in stead of 1.

A very long way to go, remote.
A very long way to go, remote. The weather was not nice when we were there so I think it coloured my opinion. Liked L’Anse aux Meadows very much and that is the reason we went there. Also went for icebergs but didn’t see any clearly.
Hotel is located on the side of the highway with nothing much around. We were there on a foggy rainy day and the hotel didn't look like much but it was clean, the bed was comfy and the host very friendly and helpful. He made us a wonderful breakfast. Almost anything you wanted was available and on arrival he told us to help ourselves. The next morning he greeted us and cooked us a hot breakfast as well. Never been served like that before
Central location, with easy walk to the adjacent museum, tourist information centre, and the nearby grocery store and craft brewery. Room was spacious, clean and well maintained, bed comfortable. In-room kitchen was much appreciated. Continental breakfast was nicely presented and with a good range of choices. It was also nice to see how the hotel presents its historic and heritage connections - very informative and interesting.
lovely hotel with a kitchen which we didn’t use but it was very well appointed. staff were helpful and recommended the Lightkeepers for dinner which was wonderful! amazing view and very good food. Breakfast was fine. The location is close to lanse aux meadows. very lovely hotel! thank you!
Good location, right on the main road.
The hotel was cute and the room had a nice balcony where we could sit and watch the fog roll in.
We really appreciate the laundry facilities in the hotel, since we arrived with a suitcase of dirty clothes that needed washing.
We had a wonderful room with a full kitchenette that allowed us to do some cooking. Nice outdoor patio. Had a full service laundry and a good complimentary breakfast. Good Wifi. On our 2 week road trip this was our favorite place to stay. Enjoyed St. Anthony.
If you are looking for a uniform chain hotel type of environment, skip this one. It's eclectic with some unique decor. But, it is clean and a good value, plus had the best breakfast options of any place I stayed.
We did not end up staying, because the place was not clean. It was under construction. The hotel smelled terrible. I don’t know if the gentleman checking us in was a worker or the owner but he was pretty scary.
