Beautiful town, lots of places to eat and have a beer; know that the weather is extremely unpredictable and hardcore: we had insane winds when we there in beginning of April. We got lucky enough to see Mt Fitz Roy the first day we were there but every day after (3 days) it was covered in clouds, so take that into account for your trip!

Amazing place that can be the base for many adventures!
Amazing place that can be the base for many adventures! We planned our trip to Patagonia leaving more time for El Calafate, but we left thinking we would have preferred to switch this! In El Calafate, everything is much more tourist like and you need to pay for basically every tour you’re going to.
Chalten felt more chilled and like you can just leave the hostel and go do your own thing without necessarily paying for an agency to take you somewhere.
It’s a very charming little place with great food and local beers available, so very cosy and welcoming after a long day of hiking

We loved El Chalten!! The hiking is incredible!
We loved El Chalten!! The hiking is incredible! And the town is adorable. Love the little local food places. Since the weather is so variable it was nice to have an extra day in our schedule to wait for a clear day for hiking. We all filled it with horse back riding, climbing and birding so no one was bore.

Located under the towering peaks of Fitz Roy, this town is a special place from which to explore the Andes. There are walks to suit all levels of hikers and the landscape is just breathtaking! The people of el Chalten are especially kind and friendly also.
Very small and cozy hostel, close to some of the major trailheads but not in the center of town (not a problem as the entire length of town can be walked in ~20 mins). The people were nice, the kitchen was clean, the showers were warm, and the staff was helpful and prompt when wifi and heat went out one day. It felt more like one large house with 12 or fewer people in it which is much different than other hostels I've stayed in. Would definitely recommend it to someone visiting El Chalten for the first time!
Great hotel!
We really liked our stay at Lunajuim. All the staff were absolutely friendly: the receptionists, the manager and the woman at the kitchen. All open to chat and help us with everything. So great!
We loved our room, very spacious, well lit and clean. Great beds and pillows.
The atmosfere of the hotel is very nice, with art all over it.
Breakfast with eggs, fruits, croissants and many medialunas.
We will come back to El Chalten and definitely will come back to Lunajuim.
The staff were super friendly. The owner was charming and so kind. He was so helpful with all the tips and suggestions to make our stay and treks in El chalten exceptional. The packed lunch and dinner in the restaurant was amazing, The best I have had in el chalten. The estancia is such a charming place to stay, family run business. The rooms were clean, great size. The views from the estancia of the surrounding vast field is magical. I would definitely recommend to stay here.
The property is one of the few hotels that are within 5 -7 minutes walk from the bus terminal which makes early morning departure easy. The room is a bit old but has been kept in good shape and clean. The front desk staff are excellent especially one lady named Victoria. She speaks excellent English and was very helpful in giving us restaurant recommendations and making us feeling comfortable in this foreign country.
Lo de Guille, is the perfect place to call home in El Chalten. The shared rooms have private lockers to put your things, the beds are comfy and they provide towels plus soap. The wifi was strong enough for me to work remotely and have a virtual meeting which is hard to find in El Chalten. Gaston, the owner and his family are in welcoming, kind, helpful and knowledgeable. My favorite hostel thus far in Argentina.
Had a massage, which was excellent. However, the room was pretty cold... could have benefited from a space heater or warm blankets.
Hotel location was great, very close to the trails leading up to Laguna Capri, etc. We could also walk to restaurants and stores.
Room was spacious and clean. Acceptable closet space. Bathroom had shower; our kids got a room with a tub shower so facilities change room by room.
It was more expensive than other destinations, but that's patgonia. No wifi in room, but that's also common in El chalten due to winds. Compared to another private room I had in El Chalten for the same price, there was a big difference in the room and breakfast provided.
The host, Ara, gave good tips for the area and once I got know know her a bit I found her to be quite nice.
- Great staff. Everybody was super helpful
- Very good location at the main road. Many bars and restaurants close by
- Superb view from the balcony. You can see the top of Fitz Roy (if it is not cloudy)
- walls are not paper-thin as I have experienced in many other places in Argentina
- Bed was very comfortable (especially after a long day of trekking)
Very good hostel. Dorm room was clean and comfortable. Lockers, clean bathroom with hot water, WiFi, heat, kitchen available. It’s advertised as without breakfast but there is actually some breakfast provided which was surprisingly acceptable. Good common areas - even had billiards and table tennis. Very good hostel value in $ El Chalten.
Excellent and convenient location, right in the center of town so you are easily ready for the hiking trails. Correspondence was helpful and answered any questions before and during my time in El Chalten. Safe and quiet. Absolute recommend and thank you for being my home for my El chalten adventures !
The host Andrea was a very nice woman. The room was also cozy and the location in the town is great. The only disappointment was that we couldn't stay an extra night as it was fully booked. Next time we're in El Chalten we'll definitely try to stay here again!
The hotel has incredible unobstructed views of the valley, including many of the rooms. The staff are very helpful, gracious and knowledgeable of the area. And they spoke English fairly fluently. The room was comfortable and spotless.
Very cozy and friendly place to stay in El Chalten. Close to the bus terminal and start point for Laguna Torre hike. The girls at the reception desk are very kind and helpful to answer all questions.
well located, but as El Chalten is small, all of them are well located… cheap, but compared what you get every cent more would be too much… the staff of the hostel itself was nice and very helpful
This was the best place that I stayed during my Hostel stays in Argentina. I liked a lot their staff which is very helpful and friendly. It made mine stay there more warmful and happiest.
