Probably good for beginners (less than 3 trips). Anything more and you’ll be bored after a day. Resprt is dreadful - like Blackpool on ice. No atmosphere, just bars, average restaurants and limited skiing. A Small friendly resort. Good bars and restaurants, friendly staff. A great atmosphere. Ski instructors were very efficient, took their time with skiers Lift queues moved quickly, lift staff helpful and patient. A really well managed resort, no big egos, everyone seems to help each other. Ski Hire at Samarkand was very well organised

Borovets is a great place for families looking for a ski...
Borovets is a great place for families looking for a ski vacation. It's not to hard to get to from Sofia airport. Just 77 minutes away from the airport. The town felt safe and quiet even at night ( at least where we stayed). It has a green slope which is ideal for beginners. The blue and green slopes are right next to each other. This enabled me to see my daughter ski on the blue slope while I used the easier green slope which was too easy for her. The lift is safe and efficient. The slopes are wide enough to accommodate all the skiers without feeling too crowded. There are lots of good options for ski lessons and equipment. Personally I recommend Ollie Moly Ski school and rental. One piece of advice: don't change money to BGN in the airport. You get a much better rate by changing in Borovets. There are plenty of change stores in the town. The town is very close to the ski slopes. There are plenty of places to buy foodTzviaIsrael - 10Scored 10

Beautiful slopes and lots of chairs available high on the mountains. It is however extremely crowded at the bottom gondola. It opens at 8:30 but at that time the queue is already very long and it's going slowly. We spent almost 45-60 mins staying in the queue at the bottom gondola. Also, the closing time is 4:30 PM. We would have expected that during Febr when the day is longer that they will be open much later than that.

Slopes were not well maintained, especially after it snowed overnight. They would become bumpy quickly after start of the day. Lifts timinings are also stange - cabin starts at 8 am, while Yastrebec Express at 8:30, so if one wants to go up - you have to wait very long time at Mid Station. I think it would be a great idea to leave 2 or 3 cabins empty, every now and then, so people waiting at mid statuon can board quicker.

The resort has seen better days. As a native from Bulgaria we can see the hordes of people hitting the slopes during the winter(when we visit) and if you plan to visit during the weekend - don't, you will ruin your experience. We are talking about 20minute waits on lifts, no space to walk due to lack of parking spaces to handle the traffic load and so. Week days are still calm and you can actually enjoy it. Another tip - if you want to eat, go to the near by town Samokov(5min drive) instead of eating on the slopes. It costs as much as 50% less and the food is better.Atanas KBulgaria

The piste side lodge was better than we could have expected giving us ample space for our family. Loads of storage for boots and skis meant we were able to store all of our equipment and just step out onto the slope and ski down to the lifts. Food was beautiful and staff were always friendly and welcoming. The beds in the lodge were comfortable ensuring we had a great night sleep after a long day of skiing. The hotel is perfectly located to explore the centre of Borovets.

From the diversified breakfast to the spa which had an amazing pool with jacuzzi and glass roof. Staff was kind and helpful. In each day the room was cleaned, towels were changed if needed and we did not had any worries about the warmthness. Hotel is situated in a quiet zone of Borovets, don’t expect to have a 2 minute walk to the center. Location was perfect, very close to Yastrebec 3 slope, but keep in mind that this is advance ski slope so it is not suitable for beginers. Apartment itself is located in Borovets Hills complex, which means you will hace access to all amendities there, like pool, spa etc with fee. Aparment was specious, beds were OK, and kitchen had all the required elements. Great experiance overall!
