Charming small town.
Charming small town. Known for wines and Argentinian-style steaks. Many companies offer Winery tours. In our experience (three times) those are designed to drink lots of table wine, but no quality wines. If you really want to taste good wines, arrange to visit any (or all) of the four largest wineries (Aranjuez, Kolberg, Campos de Solana, and La Concepcion) and ask to taste their best wines. You will be surprised how good they are. Don't be afraid to spend a little more. Still a bargain for foreign travelers. You will be disappointed if you take any of the widely publicized "Ruta del Vino" tours, except for the scenery in the cramped vans.

In Tarija life seems to be enjoyed with tranquility and confidence, possibly because time seems to be running at a different pace. Indeed, people from Tarija are who made my visit so fantastic. Living in a big city might be hectic at times, but if you are looking for a different type of adventure in which you can actually can trust good people's faith, you have to go to Tarija, and don't forget the fabulous wine!

The breakfast was lovely & the hosts could not have been more helpful;) They gave us tips about the area and our onward travels around Bolivia… even helped us find the right bus & time plus ordered a taxi for us. It was very easy to walk to restaurants and attractions. The pool and other facilities were very nice. Breakfast was great- we did not eat dinner at the hotel so I cannot comment on the restaurant in the hotel. The staff was kind enough to call us taxis when we needed one and to let us store our bags on our last day since our flight was late in the afternoon.

You get way more than just a stay in the hostel if you stay here. The hostel is very pretty and has great decorations!
