The location was great nice and quiet. There was supposed to be garden with patio? There was just an overgrown lawn with a line full of washing on it! The reviews on this site certainly do not reflect true nature of this place.

Great location and hosts, could not do enough for us, a great knowledge of local spots and places to visit. Room was great and so were the views from our window overlooking a natural steam, shower room was massive and overall everything was spotless. Breakfast was great and no request for something different was a problem.

Character, warmth from the fire, level of cooking bits and bobs (salt, pepper, etc..), location great, view out the window. Bath and bathroom very welcoming after a long mountain bike ride.

i thought it would be like a YHA hostel. I hadn't realised it was privately run. I wouldn't recommend it but it was cheap so I should have realised it wouldn't be very good. There was a heater in the room so that was a plus.
I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Most of all we were genuinely touched by how friendly and helpful people are there. When we were in Cemlyn nature reserve, we started chatting with a local and we mentioned that we are from Slovenia and that we would like to see some cliffs. He pointed some great ones for us to see. After saying goodbye we headed slowly to our car. Behind windshield wiper we found hand drawn map of the way to cliffs. We couldn't even speak!
The nature is really amazing. Maybe we were lucky that we booked our trip in april because there were not many tourists and we had pleasent experience. But nevertheless people would always be great there, I'm sure.

Machynlleth is a great town to visit, but very quiet on Mondays with a lot of shops/cafes closed. MOMA is great for those enjoying gallery space and there are several antique shops for browsers. The Deli near the clock tower has wonderful offerings, sadly the kitchen was closed the day of my visit but I left with bags of goodies to eat later. Wednesday is the day to visit when the market takes over the wide main main street.

I've been in love with Machynlleth for decades and will literally tell anyone to go there. Except don't, because I'd like to keep it for myself please. The highlight of one of this year's trips was the Machynlleth comedy festival which I'd not made it to before but was superb. Easy access to incredible beaches and incredible countryside. Some of the best (Michelin starred) restaurants in the country from Ynyshir to SY23 in Aberystwyth. Great shopping - definitely always make time to pop in the Deco Shop.

If you like the peace and quiet away from people with great views from every window. Sheep in the fields to watch. But close enough to everything you need ie restaurants, takeaways, pubs, walks, beach, shops etc then you’ll enjoy it as much as we did. You also had all of the amenities and equipment to cook for yourselves if that appeals.

If you want to get away from the current troubles all around the world this is a good place to be! It has all the amenities needed along with a wonderful sense of stability and sanity. I felt refreshed on leaving - as I always do over 50 years of visiting this beautiful town. I will be back!
The Co-op has a great store within a store for all sorts of bargains - like leather belts for €6 and quality copy perfumes for €4! And the nicest assistant ever!
A very interesting and unique setting close to Machynlleth centre….an upstairs walk through barn with a range of bedrooms, toilet / bathroom 🚽 plus separate kitchen with all mod cons including microwave & oven. A great place to meet up with others using this budget hostel.

To everyone who complains in the comments about the small house, the inconvenient entrance to the bed, the hot water in the shower, the basic hot tub - It's time to go back to the retirement home and it's time to choose four or five star hotels where you will get everything on a plate. The location of the house itself is breathtaking, literally like in a picture. We are thinking of visiting again. Thank you for everything.
Excellent location, 5 min walk into machynlleth. Mini supermarket across the road and larger co-op 10 mins. Very well appointed cottage with welcoming Prosecco and tea/coffee and logs provided. Very useful map on the wall and other local information. The cottage was really cosy, very easy to live there with excellent WiFi connection.
I am amazed to receive a request for a questionnaire on our stay as we did not turn up due to my suffering a health episode. I emailed both Plas Dolguog and booking.com to cancel but never received an acknowledgement from either. I will not be arranging another stay as the lack of personal contact at this hotel is staggering.
Breakfast was very good, well prepared and provided in a friendly manner. The location was beautiful and very convenient for Machynlleth. The host and hostess were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and tidy. Views were spectacular
Dinner delicious, service in restaurant very good with friendly attentive staff. Travelling alone is not always easy and I felt completely safe and comfortable her. Room clean and quiet, bed very comfortable. Will use this hotel again.
Family Room layout was spacious and ideal as double bed separated from single bed by step down past bathroom. Evening meal when local friends joined us was delicious - extensive menu. Cooked breakfast was plentiful and very enjoyable.
The countryside setting was idyllic especially with the nearby flock of sheep. Love the nearby narrow gauge RR and King Arthur attraction. Too bad the fast low flying jets weren't flying the Mach Loop while we were there!
Really liked the little cottage. Very nice log fire and really cosy. We had a lovely stay in great location, close to Machynlleth and with great walks nearby.
