From the moment we arrived at No. 26 by the Sea in the town of Oban, it was clear we were in for a delightful stay. Greeted with a sparkling wine as we checked in, the welcoming ambiance was just the beginning of a truly splendid visit.
This B&B, housed in a beautifully maintained historic building, holds 9 elegantly designed rooms. We stayed in a charming room on the second floor. While the absence of an elevator might be a concern for some, the quality of the accommodations more than made up for the brief climb. The bed was incredibly comfortable, promising a good night’s sleep, and I particularly loved the plush bathrobe provided!
The modern amenities blended seamlessly with the historic charm of the building. The bathroom was stocked with high-quality essentials including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion. Coffee and tea can be prepared with a kettle.
Breakfast at No. 26 is an event in itself. We were asked to order from an extensive menu the night before, and the next morning, a professional chef prepared our selections to perfection. We also loved the common room which features an honesty bar well stocked with wine, gin, whisky, beer and non-alcoholic beverages.
Located in a quiet part of the town right at the sea front, the B&B is just a ten-minute walk from the heart of Oban, with its various restaurants and shops. Parking is available and free of charge.
The service at No. 26 by the Sea was impeccable, the attention to detail and the cozy yet sophisticated design of the B&B made us regret only having stayed for one night on route to the Isle of Mull.
Overall, our experience at No. 26 by the Sea was exceptional. It earns a well-deserved 10/10 for its outstanding service, lovely design, and the overall cozy experience it provides.

Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.
The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.
Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. When you get back down to sea level, stroll into and stumble out of the Oban whiskey distillery after sampling the local version of the 'water of life'.
Admire the coastal scenery as you travel a bit out of town to the 7th-century ruins of Dunollie Castle, home of the Clan MacDougall. The Firth of Lorn gives visitors a fanatstic opportunity to try some sea kayaking.
As the capital of North Argyll, Oban has a great selection of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs available on Booking.com.

Oban is on a very pretty bay.
Oban is on a very pretty bay. It was really busy on a beautiful Saturday and the people were friendly and helpful. Coasters and EE-usk accepted us for food/drinks with no reservations!
We did not get there early enough to explore the attractions.
The train station and ferry terminal were very efficient and helpful.
We discovered a choir and orchestra concert which was a real treat!

Oban is a delightful seaside town that offers very good restaurants, shopping (small shops with nice merchandise) and the ability to enjoy the beauty of the bay and all of its activity. Oban makes a great base for exploring the area of walks/hikes, going out on small boat short duration trips to see wildlife, lots of castles to visit or to take the ferry out to the islands. Taxi service is plentiful as are private tour guides.

Bustling little port at centre of Highland area, ferries to outer and inner islands. Train station if no car, plus reasonable bus service to places of interest, eg. Dunstaffnage Castle and Oceanic research facility at Dunbeg etc. Try a ferry visit to Mull and look out for seals , dolphins, etc.
Excellent shops and restaurants, all in small scale and within easy walking distance.
Lots of points of interest and if weather nice, very hard to beat. Great for Families with young children and Oldies as well.

GORGEOUS little port town. Lots of lovely little shops, an interesting war time museum, and excellent food and drink in the numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants. Easy access to travel by bus, ferries, and trains.
Walked (some of us VERY SLOWLY!) up the hill to McCaig's Tower and enjoyed the spectacular views; followed by a delicious late lunch at Cuan Mor.

Lovely walk to ganavan sands and brilliant visit to castle and gardens. Walk around harbour with option to have local seafood. Amazing local pubs with folk music in town centre. Fish n chips nearby excellent. Close to public transport and shops.
We liked the peaceful location , but it was still close enough to the town centre. The apartment had tasteful decor and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Immaculate. It was so nice to have the kitchenette, compared to being in a hotel, with people coming and going all the time etc.
Was a real treat. Home from home. Free parking spot too, rare in Oban!
We booked to stay in Oban for 2 nights for our mini moon having been let down by a previous hotel booking this was a last minute dash to get somewhere. I was slightly worried but I shouldn't have been hotel was spotless room was spacious and staff were lovely. I would definitely stay again when visiting Oban.
Perfect location with an unobstructed view of the ocean. The room was beautiful and very well appointed with wonderful touches like a refrigerator with cold water and snacks provided daily. Daily sherry was provided too. The hotel was clean and quiet and we couldn’t have asked for a moreperfect stay.
Great location in quiet riverside view area outside busier Oban. The older hotel is charming and filled with character, like the dining spaces and 'resident lounge'. The breakfast and dinner were outstanding, and waitstaff exceptional. Quiet and clean room. We would stay again in older part of hotel.
The staff have been so helpful my daughter had an accident in the hotel and staff were fantastic they got a first aid person to her and couldn't do enough. The room we were given after the mix up was beautiful and lovely and clean. The food is good we would stay again as it is very close to Oban
We always stay at the Columba Hotel when in Oban.
We had booked a standard room, however as they are quiet at this time of the year they upgraded room, - not the first time this has happened and they had no need to do it.
Excellent in every respect.
Neat apartment; well designed and equipped Really comfy bed, and kitchen, sitting and dining furniture all very practical.
Easy to check in and out via the nearby Ranald Hotel. Really central; a short walk to the centre of town and the shore.
Staff were friendly and very helpful on arrival. Room was lovely, clean and well presented. Bathroom very clean and modern. Great to be able to open windows.
Reasonable price for overnight parking in the off-site carpark behind the hotel.
The Staff were extremely helpful, especially Pamela from Thailand, despite being very busy and understaffed. The Pool was great, and the lounge was very comfortable. The Hotel location was ideal, 5 minutes to the center of OBAN.
Comfortable and clean. Perfectly good for our overnight stay in Oban. Good value for money in comparison to other hotels in the area. Was really warm the day we arrived but there was a great fan in the room which really helped.
Very cheap hotel in Oban, although offering a room worth even less that what paid for. Good option for a quick stop in Oban. Friendly staff welcoming us at the arrival! Good breakfast provided, and included in the room cost.
The location was excellent and close to everything in Oban. The host helped with parking although there was plentiful options around the town. This apartment was close to restaurants, pubs and shopping.
It was fun staying in a beautiful, historic hotel. Oban is AMAZING, and staying in the heart of the city was exciting. The guy who checked us in when we arrived was funny, engaging, and enthusiastic.
I booked the hotel at the last moment since my train to Oban was late and I missed the last ferry connection of the day to Iona, yet even on a weekend they were able to accommodate me.
The Oban Bay Hotel . Very good location very high standards of the hotel just our hotels should be and the staff are very friendly will be calling again one day.
Staff were very hard working and friendly. Wonderful views. Spacious older style hotel. The dinner in the restaurant, if slightly pricy for Oban, was good.
