29 The Square, hotel in Listowel

29 The Square offers accommodations in Listowel, 22 miles from Crag Cave and 24 miles from Fenit Sea World.

We loved this place! We originally booked because the Listowel Arms Hotel was full, and this lovely home is literally right next door. Maurice was a great host. There were snacks and coffee/tea in the hall. We had our own room and a shared bathroom with one other guest. Our host left clean towels in our room, and still water and glasses. We attended a music festival in the Square and were literally steps from it! The other guest in the next room had a drink with us in the hotel next door as well. You could not stay at a better location. We loved it and would come back!

We have visited Listowel on many occasions before and find it a pleasant market town with some nice shops and friendly locals. This holiday we spent more time in Ballybunnion and Tralee. Ballybunnion has a great beach and also a leisure centre with swimming pool which is easily accessible. Tralee is a big town with a great leisure centre like an indoor Aquapark and Kerry Museum and Siamsa Tire - National Folk Theatre for Ireland, that hosts cultural events and traditional Irish Dancing. Listowel is 10 minute drive, Ballybunnion is 15 minutes drive from Baker's Cross and Tralee is a half hour drive.

Listowel is a lovely town with great outdoor recreational facilities and a strong history of celebrating literature and writers. It is a good base from high to explore northwest Kerry, from the Dingle Peninsula to Ballybunion and Foynes, where transatlantic flying boats used to land. For those unused to Irish roads and streets there are the challenges of driving on the left hand side and some tight turns and through ways, but that’s no different than driving anywhere in Ireland. I like the fact that it is not a town that gets inundated with tourists. The food at the Listowel Arms was excellent, as is the Horseshoe Bar. Woulfe’ s bookshop is worth a browse and the risk of leaving with several purchases. The greenway is a fabulous community resource.

Listowel has lots to do and see. We should have added another day to our two day stay. We met only lovely friendly welcoming locals, not one grumpy one among them. Tuesday night in JBKeanes pub theatre night was good fun. Get there early for seats.

Very well situated town to explore south and west Ireland.

Very well situated town to explore south and west Ireland. It has lots of facilities and pubs with live music. And a nice river to walk along it. It is surrounded by countryside. It's a clean place too. There's a very nice hotel, the only one in the area where you can eat and have a drink. You can easily walk around the town. And the castle! Although quite destroyed, still good to visit and hear about its history.

Great communication ahead of trip. Liz is lovely went out of her way to accommodate us. Gave us recommendations and is a perfect person to welcome visitors to listowel. Room perfect, despite being on the 4th floor shower had amazing pressure. Comfortable bed and great towels.. Location and ease of check in perfect. The cafe does great food and coffee. I'd done the greenway, liz has a bike rack out the back and despite us trudging bikes through her cafe was so so welcoming.

Breakfast was terrific! Cooked to order every morning. Don't miss the warm scones. Behan's is a great location in the center of town. We had dinner their twice and everything was fresh, hot and served well. It was a great location to visit many of the sights in Southern Ireland. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again and certainly recommend them to all.

The room and bathroom were quite big, all you need is there. Liked the mirrors in the room, enough space in the shower (compared to other places in Ireland). Loved the hostess, very open, just you need to ask if you want something. Got amazing coffee in my thermo cup :) and breakfast was served as in a restaurant, very welcoming experience!

House was spotless and well equipped. Bed was extremely comfortable and sheets were 5 star hotel standard. Great location to tour Kerry. The centre of Listowel is within walking distance. Hosts very helpful and live in adjoining property. The house has its own private outdoor space to sit out when weather is good.

The house was amazing and had everything we needed, the only thing that did not make it feel like home was a tv in the bedroom. But that is the American in us. LOL!!!! The views were beautiful and it was nice and quiet. Had no problem sleeping. I would highly recommend Derry house do anyone I know going to Listowel.

Aoife was a fabulous host and very proactive in ensuring we had everything we needed. We only had an overnight in Listowel, but could have stayed longer in this quaint town. Location was fabulous for walking into the village/town, and the breakfast Aoife prepared for us was substantial. Thank you.

Aoife, the owner, is a wonderful person—so kind and helpful and always willing to offer ideas for things to do in the area. Our 4 days in Listowel were the highlight of our 3 week trip in Ireland and the warm and wonderful people there, like Aoife, made it special. Thanks for a great time!!
