Klausturhof Guesthouse, hotel in Kirkjubæjarklaustur

Offering a restaurant, Klausturhof Guesthouse is located in Kirkjubæjarklaustur next to Ring Road. Free WiFi access is available. Each room here is heated and has a view of the natural surroundings.

Close to a nice hotel with a restaurant. Easy to find, was very quiet and nice. Breakfast was super basic (like everywhere) but ok. It's not a buffet, and no meat. You get a selection of stuff on a plate, porridge, fruit, cheese, juice, coffee, croissant. Whoever complaints about the noise, it's depends on the neighbours as you get a room in a shared hut. We had nice neighbours so no noise.

The hostel is easily located. The cleanliness is top notch. Super easy to check-in. Parking is right in front of the main door. Pantry is fully equipped. Bathroom/shower is sufficient for both floors and squeaky clean. Just that the Quad room is abit small.

High quality apartment, beds great etc.

High quality apartment, beds great etc. Problem was getting there was a hassel of the off road time with very difficult roads. Too expensive given that. And it was a construction site, per the picture out of our window.

There was a lot of noise.

There was a lot of noise. We weren't on the main building and when people walked in the hallway you got a lot of noises. Also the fan in the toilet turned on every time you turned on the lights and it stayed on for 15 minutes after.

We stayed in Kirkjubaerjarklaustur and made day trips to the glacier and to black beach. If you have a car, it is a great place. The scenery is beautiful and it is a good location to explore the south eastern part of the island. It is a bit of a drive for groceries and I suggest you buy them in Reykjavik or at a larger town on the way to the south.

Cute small town with a pretty waterfall at the top of the hill. A couple of restaurants and a small market were easily available. The hotel we stayed at was outside of the town itself but was an easy drive away. The town was also close to many beautiful sights, including Vatnajokull National Park and Diamond Beach.

Great location, especially if you are in Iceland only for couple of days, this would be one of the best choices. From this location, you can make several amazing trips to the surrounding locations. The most interesting places offered by southern Iceland are reacheble from this area as a "base camp".

Loved everything about Hunkubakkar Guesthouse. Every other accommodation facility in Iceland should model themselves on how Kunkubakkar looks after their guests and the service/facilities available to their guests. Every single facet of my stay was superb, from the warm welcome, right thru to my departure. Loved this place 10/10. So glad I booked dinner. Can't recommend the lamb chops with roast potato highly enough. Friendly helpful staff. Clean comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Wish I could have stayed much longer.

The hotel had spacious rooms with a well-equipped kitchen. The view outside the room was fantastic. You can see lava fields, a river, a few sheeps, and a glacier. I enjoyed my morning coffee watching the view. The hotel's location was very convenient as it is a short detour from the ring road. Though it is very close to ring road, it felt like we were in an isolated place as there was not much around. Getting in was without a hassle as the instructions were pretty clear.

The location was quite remote which wasn't ideal. Since it was extremely windy and we were driving a large van the drive wasn't enjoyable. In optimal weather this wouldn't be an issue. Very interesting landscape, though. Once at the location it was great. Iceland is about enjoying nature and this location provides that. The house was spacious and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Communication with the owner was excellent.

Good place not far from Skaftafell, there's a large living room and kitchen you can use. Airdryer in the room even if it's not very powerful, it's usefull ! Very clean room and bathroom Don't forget sleeping mask everywhere in iceland in summer, there's drapes but it's not complete dark Also the road is a little chaotic but not far from road 1, not a problem even with little car

We loved that there was a trail around the hotel that included an elf church and elf city and other cultural sites. The food in the restaurant was delicious! It was possibly the best meals we had during our trip. The reception staff were the friendliest and most accommodating that we encountered. The rooms were comfortably sized. We also loved the enclosed rooftop terrace.

Like how secluded and special the place is. The fact that it is close to a nameless waterfall. The lava maze that leads up to the waterfall. We have our own cabin, although the space is a bit tight with limited room to move about, the place is comfortable. The host was exceptionally friendly and shared a lot about the space, and about Iceland.

Rooms were nice and adequate. The hotel itself is very nice. The breakfast was 10/10, fresh, hot foods, and included. Dinner restaurant was also very good and we were pleased with the meal we ate there. Location was great in a small town with other restaraunts on the ring road. Able to see northern lights both nights which was a plus!

Convenient location right off the ring road. Keep in mind that this is a guest house and not a hotel, so don’t expect things that you’d expect from a hotel. Each building had 4 private rooms. The rooms themselves were small (as are other places in Iceland) Bathroom was good and beds were just comfortable
