The hotel is very convenient if you want to be close to the city center. It takes about 15 minutes walking to get to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Dome and the major areas; it's also very close to the bank of the river, so one can take morning or evenings strolls and enjoy the scenery. The rooms are decent size (we had a double and a single), the bathrooms are also clean and pretty spacious. It's a good option if you are staying for 1- 2 nights. It also has parking for guests (very small, but the receptionist helps move the cars around to make space for cars to go in and out).
Hotel Roma is just 100 metres from Pisa's Piazza dei Miracoli. Many rooms offer views of the Leaning Tower or the Duomo. Rooms are functional and simply furnished.

I visited Pisa as an add on to 3 days in Florence as my flight landed in Pisa from Luton. I therefore booked to stay for a 2 night stay which only really gave me one full day in Pisa.
This was just right for the leaning Tower and the buildings of the Miracoli Square including 2 museums, the Bapistry, the Duomo and the compasanto. The Duomo is stunning and the hilight but the leaning tower is a memerising sight. I managed to spend a good 5 hours there including lunch on the terrace at the museum and a timed climb up the tower booked for later in the day. (you have to book a timed slot to climb)
With hindsight i did regret not having at least one more full day in Pisa as i would have liked to have seen the rest of the city including the Botanical Gardens which was shut during my visit.
Please be aware that it gets busy so it may be worth booking the leaning tower climb online before you go.

To be honest, there is not a huge amount to view in Pisa as a tourist. Compared to Florence and Siena it feels more like a 'proper' town rather than a tourist-trap. That's not to say it isn't worth a visit; it is! The Leaning Tower is so famous it is a must-see if you are in the area. The Duomo and associated attractions are also very special for their architecture and are worth a view (in my opinion). Pisa airport is close to the city and cheaper to fly in to from London (and less busy) than flying to other Tuscan destinations, so I recommend it.
The train from the airport to the city is easy and costs about €7 but if you are more than one person take a taxi, which should work out cheaper! Also, we booked a train ticket from Pisa to Florence in advance... big mistake. There was no need to book and buying local was simple and cheap; just €8 per person. It takes an hour on the train (if you chose carefully) and if you think that the Airport to Pisa train takes 5 minutes and costs a similar amount, then one of them is good value and one isn't! I'll let you work out, which-is-which :-)
We stayed in a small hotel (Amalfitana) close to the attractions which was adequate, not great, but had a brilliant restaurant attached named "La Corte di San Leonardo"... we loved the food here so try it out, even if you do not stay at the hotel.
Don't stay too long... unless you use Pisa as a base to travel out to other towns, there's not much to do.

The leaning tower was spectacular as well as all the other buildings alongside. The 3km walk along the old city walls was also wonderful. The whole city is just full of architecture and history. I think a 2-3 day trip is a perfect amount of time. If you are there longer you can catch a bus to the coast for 2 euro or a train to Florence for about 10 euro.

Book restaurants in advance and any of the sites you want to enter. Very crowded between 11.00-18.00 around the major sites but much nicer outside these times. Can recommend Bruno's Bar for a drink or 2 and L'Ostelliono for value sandwiches that are a true delight.
5 euro to walk the top of the city walls is well worth it and so is the botanical gardens to avoid the big crowds. its fairly easy to navigate the old town but don't even think about driving unless you have 2 wheels or a guaranteed parking spot. Don't pay 8 euro for a bottle of beer in view of the tower instead just walk a few meters away and save 50%.

Pisa is a lovely city I have been lucky to visit a few times. The Leaning Tower is worth seeing, but I would suggest going in late evening or out of the tourist season. But there are other places worth checking out - this time we discovered the Nave Antica Museum - only opened in 2019 just before Covid, which houses many Roman boats from BC, which were found after flooding in 1998 - in an old horse stables - lots of gems - lovely restaurants and because it is a student town, there is always a buzz - we've been there in all seasons of the year and it is well worth visiting any time of year, although July and August are very very hot.
During our stay at Hotel Verdi, we were always greeted at reception by the most loveliest people. We would like to give a special mention to Veronica, who is a new worker at the Hotel, and was extremely helpful and kind, she must be a pleasure to work with! This hotel is a great option when on a budget, you have everything you need, the rooms are clean, there is Wi-Fi, a safe, a hairdryer and most importantly it is in the city centre and close to the tower of Pisa.
Superb location! Three minutes from the train station, 20 mins from the tower, quiet street, felt safe.
Excellent breakfast, best cappuccino I had all holiday, lovely warm croissants and very good choice of continental breakfast.
Really friendly and competent staff, they took time to answer questions and gave sight seeing advice.
I will readily recommend this hotel for a stay in Pisa and as a base for exploring Tuscany by train.
The family run hotel is situated 5 mins walk from the Pisa tower. About 15 minutes walking distance from Pisa train station. Lots of places to eat out and the hosts are very hospitable and helpful. They couldn’t do enough for us and make our stay comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Air conditioned room and the beds were very comfortable as it was one of the hottest days in July we stayed over there. Bathroom was clean.
This was our best stay during our roadtrip through Italy. Paolo was super friendly, check-in was easy and fast. The room was so nice and so clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. The swimming pool is perfect for cooling down after visiting Pisa (only 5km away from the B&B). Definitely would recommend staying at Vecchio Granaio and would definitely book again!
The best hotel! New and modern facilities. Directly outside of Pisa Centrale train station, walking distance to Pisa Tower. Bus Lam Rossa to Pisa tower too. The room has safe and kettle, which are important. Very comfortable beds. Great for the value. This is also a good suggested stay if want to go to Florence or cinque terre. 1 hour train to both.
This hotel was a wonderful little gem. Very charming, very clean, our room was spacious for a family of 4, the beds comfortable, the staff extremely welcoming and kind. Location is perfect, few seconds from the tower of Pisa and the bus stop connecting to to the main train station is just across the street. We loved it and we highly recommend it
Is an old hotel, but is well kept, is very clean and the location in Pisa is excellent! Is walking distance (3)min from Pisa Céntrale train station and very close to the leaning tower. The breakfast buffet every morning is very good, and Curia the the one young lady that works it all alone! She is fast and friendly! Excellent service!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, Hotel Miratorre exceeded expectations on all levels. Immaculate room, great breakfast, friendly and helpful hotel staff and a 10 minute slow walk to Pisa Tower and most sights. My 4th trip to Italy and can honestly say the best hotel stayed, and a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.
It was a lovely, comfortable, clean and friendly place to stay. We travel to Pisa alot as we have family in ITaly, and it was a perfect stop over to get to the airport first thing in the morning. Clean, comfy and well looked after. There was a simple breakfast which was a bonus.
Overall, an excellent hotel. Room clean and modern. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was also excellent. Once you work out the bus route into Pisa it’s easy and cheap form of transportation. Airport only 6 mins away
The place was exceptional. Very close to the Tower of Pisa. And alot of restaurants around. The host was very accommodating. Easily one of the best hotels we’ve been to. Will rebook this hotel when we come back to Pisa.
A real hotel with spacious room and adequate furnishings. Spotlessly clean, attention given to detail. The staff are kind and helpful. Location is walking distance to the Pisa Tower, Airport and Train Station.
The hotel is located right next to the Leaning Tower of Pisa which was so ideal! The man at the front desk was so lovely and helped us with directions to the city centre at midnight when we checked in.
The hotel is in a fantastic, central location just minutes from the tower of Pisa. The highlight of this hotel was the management team and their concerted efforts to make sure you enjoyed your stay.
this hotel was just perfect. it was close to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and we could see it from our quaint hotel window. walk to the site and it was a quick cab ride from the train station. see pics
The room was clean. The hotel is very close to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and tons of restaurants. Most of the staff was friendly. The air conditioning worked wonderfully!
