We enjoyed Santa Margherita Ligure very much. It was a delightful town by the beach. There are lots of different places to eat. There is an absolutely delightful walk to Portofino along the coast. In the other direction there is also a lovely walk to Rapallo.

This city is a must visit.
This city is a must visit. The city itself has plenty to offer, from shops to an array of great seafood restaurants. Awesome waterfront and the perfect connection, in whichever way suits you, on foot, by bus or ferry, to Portofino...and we did try all three.

I would have rather stayed in Santa Margarita than in Cinque Terra. CT was nice but SM was larger, the feel was more holiday Mediterranean style, more restaurants, shops... a great base to stay and then take the train or ferries down to CT

I loved the area.
I loved the area. I would stay there and take day trips to Cinque Terre rather than staying there. Cinque Terre is very noisy. it’s less expensive to take the bus rather than the ferry to Portofino.because was a short ride. Even though we were a mile from town it was too long and uphill to walk back. Taxi rides are $30 each way. I wish we were closer to the strip. There were many shops and nice restaurants on the strip and in town. Beautiful place

Absolutely beautiful place with plenty of restaurants and bars. Very friendly people everywhere we went. Clear water, no big waves, perfect for swimming. Plenty to see and easy transport to other areas. Trains cheap and frequent. Buses great. Taxi pricey.

Breakfast is really the highlight of this hotel. The rooms were small yet sparkling clean, and the location is a gem. Easy to reach both Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure, by direct public transport via bus, just in front of the hotel. The beach clubs in front were quite expensive, and there is only a very small public part that is overcrowded, so we couldn't swim there. However, by walking you can find small beaches towards Portofino, just as charming.
Absolutely the best reason to stay at Villa 1900 is Paola, who greeted me when I arrived and was always there to help. Because I arrived in October, the a/c was no longer running. so far this is true everywhere in Italy. Paola, when I complained about the heat, arranged when I was out, to have a fan put in my room. The room, the location, and the villa itself were charming but it was Paola and her personal attention that put my stay here over the top.
The location is amazing if you want to stay in the centre of Santa Margherita. There is an amazing free beach a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. It’s very close to lots of bars, a supermarket is 3 minutes away and you can easily take the bus to go to Portofino! The staff was very friendly, the breakfast had a lot of options and you can get in an out of your room at any time.
The staff is fabulous! Francesco- mixologist extraordinaire educating you on the regions' wines and spirits. Monica front desk has the best recommendations, directions, and information about the area and surroundings. Beautiful room with breathtaking views. I would recommend Hotel Helios to everyone. Make the trip when you get to Italy, you will not be disappointed!
Boutique hotel with affordable price, everything is perfect,. We arrived early, staffs were trying their best to let us get into the room ASAP. Breakfast is way nicer than most of 4 star hotels. Great location, might be only 7-8 mins walk from train station. If I have chance to visit this area again, I will definitely choose this hotel one more time.
We had a wonderful stay at hotel Helios. The location was perfect and we enjoyed the beach club and pool. The staff were all friendly, helpful and accommodating to our needs. It was our first time staying in Santa Margherita and hotel Helios made our stay unforgettable. We cannot wait to come back and will stay here again.
Location was perfect. In the center of all the action. Staff were amazing, can’t say enough about all of them, front desk, breakfast, housekeeping. They helped me get a credit card couriered to me that I left at a hotel several cities ago. Pool was great overlooking harbor. Breakfast was good.
Breakfast was excellent. Fresh croissants, excellent espresso. Fresh fruit, meats, etc. One of the best hotel breakfasts in quality. Location is prime. Room was clean. Even though location was directly facing the busiest street, you couldn’t hear noise in our room which was a big plus.
Ambiance was eclectic and warm. Rooms are well appointed & comfortable.
Breakfast was wonderful; great selection and presentation was beautiful.
Staff are respectful, engaging and know the area with great dinner reservations.
Would highly recommend this boutique hotel!
I like everything about this place specially the staff and their friendliness I would recommend u stay here again and again I’m for sure staying here again if I ever come here, the hotel it self is very well put together the decor the marble and everything else is great
The rooms are a bit ancient but the charme of Italy as it should be is all over- excellent service, excellent food. The staff is just the best you can find and the athomesphere at the "spiaga" -> super charming. Nr. 51 and Nr. 52 are the best rooms.
Everything in this hotel was absolutely amazing!
The room , the location , the view , the restaurant, the spa ( Samira - the best spa therapist! )

The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was very good.
True Italian experience, beautiful Hosts and great comfortable apartment. Would stay here again next time we come to Italy. Loved Santa Margerita more than Portifino.
