It's an amazing hotel sited on top of a hill overlooking on one side Lake Toya and on the, a bay being part of Sea of Japan and one has a 360° view of the entire valley lake and mountains including of Mt Yotei in the distance. Its also a beautiful n lavishly appointed hotel and one of its many claims to fame is being the site of a G8 Summit hotel in 2008. It has many lovely restaurants, a great onsen plus a nice golf course to boot. Locals regard this hotel as Hokkaido's most prestigious hotel, and one can fully understand once you stay there. The staff are so professional and courteous fm the doorman to everyone you come into contact as they all seem so conscious they have a very high reputation to maintain as The Top hotel in the region. A Must Return to hotel.

Impeccable service, particularly from staff member Honma. The buffet offered a wide array of options. The Hokkaido beef for dinner and Ochazuke for breakfast were noteworthy.

Very cozy and pleasant stay. Initially I had an issue getting replies to my questions over email, probably due to language barrier, but after reaching the hotel, everything was fantastic - from free shuttle service from Toya station, assistance to book cab to my destinations, clear fireworks from room, large room size, clean facilities, everything was perfect. Stay was very comfortable and very very good.

Breakfast and dinner buffet style with reasonable spread of food.
Stayed on upper floor with good view of Lake Toya and fireworks from room.
Onsen has 3 levels with the top level having partial outside view. Onsen has amenities for bathing.
Hotel near Lake Toya and within short walking distance to the waterfront. On a non-cloudy day, able to see the stars in the sky.
Bus stop near hotel has bus going to Mt Usu. Beware that you will still need to walk quite a distance (uphill about 2/3 of the way) to Mt Usu ropeway from the alighting bus stop. So if walking uphill is an issue, it is better to go there by taxi or drive.
A 5-minute walk from lake Toya, Hotel Grand Toya offers Japanese-style rooms with free Wi-Fi. Indoor and outdoor hot spring baths are available at the property.

Toya was so beautiful.
Toya was so beautiful. The best kind of countryside you can ask for. We went to the toya hill farm which was so good for people watching. Oh but please drive, the public transport was so frustrating. We had to walk 24mins to the next busstop and the buses take so long to come

Didn’t like it in late February.
Didn’t like it in late February. The only thing to do is go to the onsen, some of the hotels will grant you access for a small fee if you’re not staying there.
There is a boat tour (looks like a princess castle, sort of weird), pricey and so so boring, they don’t even go all around the lake and it doesn’t stop for you to step on the islands.
Overall, very sad town in February.

Taking a slow stroll along the lakeside with cooling breeze blowing towards you is refreshing and makes you feel so free.
A must visit to Mount Usu taking the cable car and walking along the Ropeway is scenic.
A short drive of about 10 minutes from Lake Toya there is a Little Farm that serves very good ice cream, coffee and pizza. Children loves the goats in this farm land.

Beautiful and scenic but you are not allowed to swim in the lake because it is a Unesco site. I was unable to Google this info so I'm sharing it here. It is 90 degrees here today so that sucks. They don't mind you dipping your feet but there are no swimming beaches. You can get wet if you are boating or on SUPboard. I probably would’ve toured another part of the country if I knew I couldn’t swim in the lake in the middle of an extremely hot summer. the south of like Toya is filled with Asian tourists. We enjoyed the quiet north side.

Exceptional room to wake up in every morning, with a full view of Lake Toya. Soaking in the hot bath in the room and enjoying the fireworks nightly is indeed a pleasure. Service staff are helpful and polite, and the meals are sumptuous. Indeed a memorable experience.
I don’t often write reviews but my stay in this hostel just needs one. I stayed here for only one night on my trip trough Hokkaido and it was just amazing. The accommodation is clean and cozy and the beds are soo comfortable. But the best: the hosts. They were so kind and helped me with all my questions. English conversation is also possible! :-) Since it was heavily raining on the morning I left, the offered me a drive to the bus station. Thank you so much, Keiko-san, arigato gosaimasu.
The most luxurious place, among the 4 hotels we stayed in Hokkaido. Spacious room, friendly welcoming staff. Met a couple of staff from Myanmar who speak good English. A new hotel, opened just about 6 months ago. The inroom onsen was great. Convenient location to Lake Toya sights. The whole hotel is an art gallery. Very tastefully decorated. The Tannoy speakers in the lounge are something to listen to. The live harpist performance was very good.
Our room on the 7th floor had a lovely view of the lake and the night fireworks. The hotel was right in the middle of the Main Street, so we were near plenty of food options, convenience stores, and the lake.
The room was comfortable and large, and the toilet felt pretty new. The staff would set up the room for sleeping while the guests went down for dinner.
They had private onsens available for booking, and it was easy to do so.
The cabin is quant and well equipped with everything you need. We loved the chair in the living room for reading with the view of Lake Toya and the very cozy blankets. The hosts were great and even dropped off some fresh venison that their neighbors shared with them. It was a great location to walk into town for some lunch and then we were able to cook dinner at home. We loved our stay here
The hotel boasts a stunning view of Lake Toya from every room, which is tastefully decorated with a modern Japanese style. The rooms are exceptionally spacious and meticulously renovated. The outdoor onsen is a must-try experience. The hospitable hotel staff make the stay even more enjoyable. It's recommended to have a car to reach this remote location.
Onsen had lots of free creams to try, relatively clean, not super fanciful. Staff very helpful, polite. There was a washing machine and dryer in the ladies bath! Dated hotel but the prices were also the lowest in the region. Given that there were daily fireworks for 20mins (even after it had been raining!), it was a very welcome bonus to our stay.
Very gracious, sweet, and kind host, went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Enjoyed our breakfast and the variety every morning. Nice spacious house overlooking Lake Toya. Location is very peaceful, about 20 min from Rusutsu. We were able to send our skis in advance to the house and she helped us in shipping our skis back home!
Simple, everything you need at your disposal. Tatami mattresses were comfortable. Clean and efficient! Were convenient, close to the train station. Easy to get to Toyakoonsen by bus from here. We hiked to Mt. Usu from here (take the bus to Usu) and took the ropeway down to Toyakoonsen afterwards, were we enjoyed a day spa in an onsen hotel.
Our whole experience staying here was excellent - we knew we were in for a special stay as a tourist new to ryokan, but it exceeded our expectations. The details of the room were beautiful, we had a wonderful lake view, the buffet meals were great, the cafe/library is lovely, and the onsen were amazing!
Small guesthouse run by a very friendly landlady. The premises were well heated so I wasn't cold at all even though it was a cold winter night. The landlady also provided discount coupons to the onsen at the hotel next to the guesthouse, which was fantastic. There're also many restaurants nearby.
The resort was amazing! Staff were very attentive and kind, I was really happy that they accommodated my request for the meals. Attentive to details & the service was top.
The room was excellent, clean, spacious and has everything you need. View is amazing and outdoor onsen was very relaxing 😄.
It is within driving distance to the onsen town where the fireworks were. I would love to stay over again for a bit longer next time and to enjoy Lake Toya more on a walk. The house itself meets everything I expected from a beautiful vacation house.
All rooms face Lake Toya and good viewing of nightly fireworks. 5mins walk to Toya Onsen Bus Station (approx 100 metres away). Lots of restaurants on same street as hotel and bus stop for bus Mt Usu just outside hotel
Location is great with a superb view of Lake Toya. Onsen was fantastic with a wonderful view of the lake and mountains. Nice fireworks display at night by the lakeside and hotel has great buffet breakfast.
One of the best choices for a great Lake Toya view and fireworks. The facility is clean, has good onsen, a free car park and is quite near to a pharmacy, convenience store and bus station.
Beautiful spacious hotel room, quiet, private, outdoor bathtub, sake bar where I sampled local sakes, onsen with the view of lake toya. High end amenities.
