I loved the onsen bath, cold plunge and sauna. It was very clean and modern. They also had free amenities like razors and so forth. I also appreciated the fact that they had free drinking water available in the bathing area. Staff was also very friendly and the hotel itself is new and well decorated.

This place was beautiful! Situated near Nakagomi train station in a mall area that is somewhat quiet, perhaps due to the after-effects of COVID, but still has lots of restaurants within close proximity. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and easy to communicate with despite my lack of Japanese. I had a triple room to myself and it was a lovely, spacious room for a decent price. The bathroom is outside of the room but there was a sink within. The shower is downstairs but it is private. Highly recommend.
Set just 21 km from Honmachi Machiyakan, Kasuga no Mori provides accommodation in Saku with access to an open-air bath, a shared lounge, as well as a lift.
Offering rooms with free internet, a flat-screen TV and private bathroom, Route-Inn Karuizawa is 1 km from Miyotachi Train Station. A public bath and Japanese/Western breakfast buffet are featured.

Saku is the more economical area to visit the general Shinshu area including Karuizawa and Asama. There are lots of chain restaurants, grocery stores, and convenience stores. Gas is slightly cheaper than in Karuizawa. Ski Garden Parada is a 5-10 minute drive away, and Karuizawa is about 30 minutes away, so access is great. The highway is also in an easily accessbile location. The shinkansen also stops here.
