Charming is an apt name for this beautiful hidden away gem. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, really working hard to ensure our stay was a dream romantic romp. They even prepared a tailored vegan alternative menu that was an unexpected touch of care. We're truly grateful to Silvia and her team.

The serenity and quietness of the hotel!!! Just perfect! And being at the sea front made evenings perfect for a sit and chill watching the sunset and listening to the wind. The staff were also exceptionally polite and friendly.

Breakfast was spot on. Location was pretty decent. A little far removed from restaurants/shopping and such, but that is kinda what I wanted so was very good for my needs. I answered no regarding the question above "Did the price I paid match the expectations I had when I booked". I answered no because the facility far exceeded my expectation. I felt it was a very good value.

Interesting town, much to see, like the TAAF Snake Farm, where I was for a course, the Gede ruins and much more. Good infrastructure, which is not in all coastal towns in Kenya the case. The beach in front of Papa Remo is alone worth going there!

Watamu is beautiful , but unfortunately too touristical for me. Heavily overpriced for Kenya. People who like bust tourist spots will like it though... traditionally many Italians, if you want to avoid those, Watamu is also not your choice

Watamu has lovely people, tourists are so safe its unreal.
Watamu has lovely people, tourists are so safe its unreal. Large Italian population and visitors, so most hotels and resteuraunts are italian owned. Best place to eat and the most jawdropping view is from Ocean Sports.

Watamu as such is lovely with a few good public beaches.
Watamu as such is lovely with a few good public beaches. Restaurants are galore and most really good, although mostly expensive. Among the coastal towns I visited in Kenya and Tanzania, I have come back to Watamu most often. The water is crystal clear, the beach white and not overrun, and the area offers enough activities to not get boring.

Local administration and hoteliers should strive to attract...
Local administration and hoteliers should strive to attract more local tourists. Overdependence on foreigners leads to exaggerated prices in addition to leaving Watamu as a ghost town especially in low season.
We loved staying at Mangrove View, by far the friendliest and most welcoming place since we've been in Kenya for over 8 weeks. The breakfast is delicious and the chef can also provide dinner for a very reasonable price, which is super delicious and highly reccomended. The owner Reimond is very friendly and has lots of local tips and can help you organize tours, transport and more. The communcal area is very social and it's easy to meet fellow travellers here :) Highly reccomend this place to anyone staying in Watamu!
The staff is friendly, I really appreciate Sarah for ensuring I had a good time, the chef too is friendly and will advise you on the meal to take, he prepares a good meal. The manager can do a better job at communicating with his guests and even inquiring whether they are comfortable. If you need a massage just ask for Cherry she offers the best massages at a very affordable price, she is very friendly and kind. The massage was the highlight of my trip.
I loved how private the property was, it felt really secluded and intimate. The staff were really attentive and friendly, and made incredible food and drink! Food and drinks were 10/10!! I loved the room (Beach Banda), it had a beautiful view from the balcony, the bed was very comfortable, the room was spacious, and the shower pressure and temperature was fantastic. Also, the free boat ride over to Watamu town was a great bonus!
friendly and helpful staff, in particular Lizzy and Benjamin. The whole compound and its surroundings had a good atmosphere and sufficient intimacy for a relaxed vacation and human interaction. After a visit to the Garoda hotel, we knew the difference: at the Watamu Beach Cottages we felt at home. Thanks also for the monkeys who entertained us for free.
Everything- stunning, staff is friendly and attentive and it is never loud. This place is exactly what I needed and it is owned by a local family (this should be commonplace but coastal Kenya is very much neocolonized). They pay attention to details. It’s impossible to be here and not feel like you’re at the best joint in town.
Ascot is well positioned and within short walking distance between two of the most beautiful Watamu beaches. The staff go out of their way to create a welcoming and friendly service, with attention to detail. I particularly treasured being invited to share Christmas lunch with the management team and residents.
Beautiful coastal themed structures. Incredibly friendly, warm, helpful and competent staff from the start all the way to the end. Beautiful views of the ocean. Beautiful beach and access to it. This was the best hotel experience I have ever had.
Excellent staff, hotel slightly neglected. I think watamu had more tourists in the past. Toilet didn't look great, but then excellent value for money I'd say. Very cheap. Big room
Location to the beach is perfect, less than a minute walk
The interior finish of the house was awesome
The kitchen cutlery was perfect and smart
Relatable and friendly staff
Staff is very nice, welcoming and professional. They made me feel at home and very well taken care of. I loved everything about this hotel. Breakfast is super!
This is my second time at the hotel and I am happy that this time food/drinks were excellent all throughout, very attentive staff and good water sports.
