Balaclava is remote so no opportunity to walk anywhere.

Balaclava is remote so no opportunity to walk anywhere. We were fine with a good dinner and the occasional musician but some might find it boring. We used a driver but if not then you’d need a car to get round the island. It was cyclone season so mixed weather but in general the North of the island has drier sunnier weather than the South.

Balaclava is a very beautiful place if you are looking for calm, relaxation and quietness. If you'd like more happening, you might need to get a car to be able to move around or to chose another place like Port Louis or others...

    Staff: super friendly!!

Staff: super friendly!! Accommodation: clean 8/10, Bed: super comfortable, Dinner: very good but far to expensive for the island!! I really wouldn’t recommend the buffet for dinner! Breakfast is the only thing I’d criticize: no variety, no creativity, no changes, the quality of the food 5/10 Example: No pork bacon, vegetables: tomatoes and cucumbers ... that’s it, olives came picked and from the can... just not a 5 star Quality breakfast!!

Beautiful resort with views of the beach from the room.

Beautiful resort with views of the beach from the room. There was many things to do in the resort so one can spent all the time in the resort itself. The only problem we faced was with drinking water, it is delivered only once to your room and then only other option is in the room bar which can add to be really expensive. Otherwise highly recommended resort.

The Ravenala hotel was just amazing! Our room was super big, comfy with an amazing bed and view on the gardens. The breakfast options were great, you have plenty of different choices (vegan, childfriendly options...). The staff care was exeptional, always ready to help us with our requieries. The highlight of our stay was the special dinner that we had on the front deck on the waterfront, a lovely and romantic experience to enjoy as a couple! Highly recommend! Special thanks to Mr David and the staff for making it one of our best stays

Beautiful hotel, nice location, lovely staff at the restaurant and bars but terrible customer service at the reception and spa super rude. Had to complain to the manager only then we noticed improvement. Luck of basics like welcome refreshment drink and hand towel, coffee tea in the room u have to take it yourself from the shop, no iron in the room each time u want yo use it u have to call, rooms 10min walk from main facilities no lifts if u are traveling with parents.

The hotel itself is really beautiful, in a remote location with its private beach and two big swimming pools. Food is good and varied. Several restaurants but you need to book them some time in advance to get a chance to have a spot. The Junior suite was huge and super comfortable. Staff is numerous and very friendly. They were super accommodating for our checkin and checkout.

.The reception was on the slow side. It also took ages to get my room service the first evening. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent for the rest of my stay. Pity there is no swimming beach but the view is great. I missed having access to sea. I wont stay there for leasure but a fantastic place if you are on a business trip. To it

Visually a nice hotel, however, some staff were inattentive, room service food was the worst I’ve experienced, multiple issues with the room resulting in finally being re-roomed after several complaints/requests. Anno restaurant was superb, however main dining facilities were significantly below a 5 star service. WI-FI was also poor.

we have been fortunate to stay at most of the B5 star hotels in Mauritius over the past 7 months. the oberoi is our outright number one pick for food !!! every meal was amazing and the herb trail fire pit experience is out of this world. the spa was also incredible. slightly smaller more intimate resort but the food is well worth it.

Brand new hotel so everything was in excellent condition and very clean and neat. The beds were the most comfortable that I have ever slept on in my life - this is not an exaggeration. Lovely hotel, food and great staff. Beach and pools well maintained and the lobby is truly stunning. Food and drinks were also good value for money. Also worth noting that the hotel has some complimentary water activities - we did the glass bottomed boat one morning which was fabulous.
