Beautiful views overlooking the Douro, modern style rooms and great facilities such as pool, Turkish steam room, sauna and hot tube. Loved the atmosphere and style of the hotel as well as the connection with the winery.

Very nice view, quiet, though only sandwiches after 7apm, no restaurants nearby, need to drive out. but for the view and quiet, it is still a good choice. Staff are all very nice.

This place is absolutely superb! From the initial contact prior to our visit, to the final farewell there is a commitment to excellence and attention to detail in everything. The location is charming - nestled in the vineyards and a short walk down to the river. There's a lovely range of amenities to use. The staff are totally wonderful - constantly attentive to ensure everything is perfect and to help with anything. The food and wines are superb. Highly recommend the wine tasting with Pedro - a master of his craft. The Quinta is beautiful, lovely design , gorgeous rooms and views, and relatively small so never feels overcrowded or over busy at all. We were expecting a lovely place but this surpassed our high expectations and then some. Its pretty close to perfection! Cannot recommend highly enough.
Once part of a vineyard, Casa d’Alem features a swimming pool overlooking the surrounding countryside and Marão Mountain.

The Casa was very beautiful! The building was full of charm and the rooms were very comfortable. Ik loved the room with a very luxurious bathroom. We had a 3 meal course with wine and port. It was all home made and served in the beautiful garden. We loved it! The host Joanna was very friendly and welcoming. I love to come back one day!

Everything about Quinta das Susandas was excellent. The space is quaint, peaceful, clean, comfortable, and lovely. We received a warm welcome by Nadia, and she was attentive and accommodating throughout our stay. It was our first time travelling as a family of three (with our seven month old baby), and Nadia went above and beyond to ensure that all our needs were met. Our little one was doted on and spoiled, it was wonderful.
The onsite restaurant was impeccable, both for breakfast and dinner. We received great recommendations for off-site restaurants, as well as things to do and sites to see (but we chose to spend our time on the property).
I highly recommend Quinta das Susandas, and only regret not having booked a longer stay. Our family will definitely return to this gorgeous place.

The village of Mesao Frio was a long steep walk from our accommodation Imaginario d'El-Rei but was well worth it. We ate in the local family restaurant Atasca Do Zequinha which was run by a brother and sister. It was right at the top the hill and was almost like going into their own home. The food was excellent along with the local wines and you were made to feel part of the family. We enjoyed it so much that we returned again for our second night.

Mesao Frio is a small, quaint town in the Douro hills at the western end of Portuguese wine country. A small number of charming restaurants, nice people and vineyards abound. Great base for exploring the Upper Douro and Portugal's fantastic wine country.

Almost impossible to find - no sign, no house number.
Almost impossible to find - no sign, no house number. When I entered, I thought I was going into someone's living room. Didn't look like an inn/B&B. The owner was smoking and the entire place smelled awful. His daughter was ironing. Very odd. Had to walk up flight of stairs with luggage. Breakfast was minimal, we had to wait for bread delivery. Bathroom was tiny and shower was too.
We stayed in 10 different places this trip and this was the most expensive and the worst of all of them. Very disappointed.
We spent over 2 hours trying to find this place. A elderly woman selling cherries by the roadside was finally able to get us there. It was Sunday and by the time we found place, no place was open for dinner. Grade of F.
This really is a magical place! The owners and staff are amazing-very detailed oriented. Lot’s of little touches from candles, to flowers to port. The road getting up to Quinta do Bosque can be challenging but well worth the effort once you arrive! The breakfasts were fabulous-so much to choose from and presented so nicely. We decided to have dinner there both nights. Really loved the starters, soup and desserts. I can’t say enough about Quinta Do Bosque-of our 2 weeks traveling around Portugal this was a highlight for sure!
It was a wonderful place to stay. Absolutely spectacular views from the property....in the bedrooms and by the pool. It has a lovely atmosphere, as if you are staying in someone's house rather than a hotel. The bedroom and bathroom were both large and spacious. Joana, the lady who greeted us, was lovely and welcoming and a lady called Claudile ( I think) really looked after us with food. With prior arrangement the property will cook an evening meal which was delicious, including wine and port from the region.
This hotel was a top highlight of our trip to Portugal. The pictures don't do this view justice; it is fantastic. Our host was amazing and treated us like family. The room had an exceptional view, and the hot tub, pool, and lounge area were amazing. I was so sad to leave!
Also, originally, I thought that this was not in as central of a location in the Douro Valley. After having visited, I think that the location is one of the best in the valley and possibly the best view in the Douro Valley.
We loved it here at Casa De Canilhas! Our room had a stunning view of the Duoro River, overlooking vineyards. Room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, the breakfast (delivered to our room) was very plentiful and delicious. This was one of our most favorite places in our 5 week road trip around Portugal!!
Simply lovely and perfect in every way!!! If I'm ever lucky enough to return to Portugal, I would absolutely stay here again!!!
Mr. Baradas, the host, is exceptionally kind. He helped us with our luggage, he gave us some valuable information from the Douro region and its Quintas. And he even gave us the option to choose between different rooms. The hotel is very well clean. It has a beautiful view, free/easy parking, and comfortable beds. We had an excellent stay there and a very good night of sleep. Thanks a lot for everything!
Every room has a fantastic view of the Douro River! The casa was a great base for us to explore the Douro region from. It is also a short walk from Mesão Frio, which has good options for cafes and dinner. Our host couldn’t have been nicer and went the extra mile to be sure we were comfortable, including having his English-speaking son on hand to make check-in easy. The daily breakfast was delicious!
The hotel was amazing! very nice rooms, clean and comfy. the family room was great with lots of board games to play. we were surprised to find out that there is an indoor pool and gym (good surprise (; ). The restaurant was very good! great food at dinner and also at breakfast. And last, the view from the hotel is amazing!
The hotel is AMAZING. It is on the hill overlooking the whole wine region and river. It is super nice decorated. The garden and swimming pool are taken care of. The breakfast is delicious and you overlook the whole wine region. The personal is super friendly and welcoming.
Beautiful location with clean comfortable rooms and excellent staff. Our stay here was our favorite part of our trip to Portugal. Able to easily get to by car or train (REDE station close by) and town within 5 minute walking distance for essentials. Wonderful place!
Best experience of our 12 day trip to Portugal. The hosts make you feel like home with Port wine in the room. We booked for dinner which we highly recommend as it became a special evening of exquisite food good wine and fun conversation with other travelers.
Everything, the location was magical, the facility was beautiful, the rooms were very lux with big balconies.
The staff were very polite and friendly.
Overall we enjoyed our stay a lot and cannot wait to come stay again at our next visit to portugal.
We stayed there for the second time and really enjoyed it. The apartment was very clean and beautiful, had delicious brekfast and loved the outdoor area.
Mesão Frio is a good place to start discovering the Douro Valley.
In over 45 years of International travel, this is the best hotel that we have ever stayed in!
Everything was exceptional and we will be back.
It is worth making a special trip from the UK just to stay there
The food and coziness. The bedroom was so comfortable and the hotel was very calming and relaxing. The views were spectacular and the staff were so amazing!
