Vår Gård Saltsjöbaden, hotel in Saltsjöbaden

This hotel lies on Stockholm's archipelago coast, 200 metres from Saltsjöbaden Train Station. It offers free WiFi and private parking.

The location never stopped surprising us. The artwork in the main building was an unexpected treat. The upstairs bar made me double check what we had actually paid for the stay because the decor and architecture was so luxurious - fit for a queen! The outdoor space with kayaks and bicycles were a lovely optional extra. There were deer in the forest and the sunsets (that last for hours in spring) over the water were incredible. The beds were lovely and floofy and the additional lounge area was wonderful to expand into after our smaller Stockholm hotels. The staff were also super chatty and gave us a lot of their time which we enjoyed immensely. There is also a parking lot outside where we could recharge our rental vehicle with an app to pay for the charge. We had a wonderful time and wish we had stayed there longer. We stayed for 2 nights, checked out and stayed for most of the day at the restaurant over looking the water and chatting.

Ellery Beach House, hotel in Saltsjöbaden

Featuring a spa centre, this design hotel is situated in green surroundings on Lidingö Island, a 20-minute drive from central Stockholm.

Luxury standards are clearly what the hotel aims for and largely achieves. There's a little of the 'standard hotel' feel in the corridors sometimes but the artwork shows an attempt to beat that. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was huge with fantastic view towards the sea. Breakfast was generous and diverse, dinner options good.

Arriving was cold,AC was off, floor heaters off.was disappointing.many times in this 3 days we had problems with AC.We we’re reading later comments about stay from other people and seems that also previous guests have had the same problem. Also tv doesn’t show just normal Swedish news, there is not possible to put it.Owner said that someone took cable with them but now I read that also other guests before us had same problems…. Was possible to put YouTube and Netflix.Breakfast was nice ,no complaints. Main bed was also super but not couch next to it,made lots of noise and seemed to be old.Annika was friendly and helpful, but because we read now other people comments and complaints are similar what we had then we don’t think we would stay there again.

The hotel has beautiful architecture, with fantastic common areas, a lovely restaurant/breakfast room, and garden areas. The atmosphere is very good, with great service. The room is comfortable, big enough, and nice products from l'Occitane in the bathroom. We had an entry for the spa area, although we did enjoy it we both thought it was a bit pricey since the room is already quite costly. The outdoors of the hotel are lovely and we had a very romantic evening walk. Nice dinner at the restaurant and fantastic breakfast!

The location is great, it is a beautiful area to walk around, it is calm, clean, the rooms are comfortable. We liked that much, that we extended our stay one more night. To enjoy the hotel at it fullest, you need at least 3 or 4 nights. Altough the breakfast is nothing special for a hotel in that category, the breads and pastries are outstanding. You notice it is homemade.

Came for a wedding. The hotel was alright. We upgraded to a 'slightly bigger' room with sea view. The positive things were the sauna's and dipping into the icy waters from the pier. The wedding dinner was a journey beyond expectations and thousand thanks to the chef and his crew for an unforgettable wedding dinner. Pricey but so worth every Krona 🙂

This is our 5th visit to Sweden. This time, I chose a hotel outside the city, a quiet but charming place, and that's exactly Var Gard. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast abundant, beautiful location and above all, the comfiest bed ever!
