The location of the hotel is great (the road to get there is a different matter and is nothing the hotel can influence). The receptionist was lovely but overall I have to say the staff was not very friendly or helpful. The room size was good and we had a little balcony facing the lake. It was great to get a free kayak for one hour as part of the stay.

The hotel has a very nice atmosphere, and the staff went out of their way to help us with a tour on Good Friday (a day when everything’s closed), which was the highlight of my trip, so thank you!! Very helpful and friendly. Location’s perfect, could not have been better. Bed was very comfortable and was lucky enough to share the dorm with only 1 other person which was lovely. The fan works perfect. Free water (and coffee) all day. Totally recommend!!

What a lovely hostel!!!!
The people are so friendly and the food is great.
I had a private room and loved how it clean it was (finally a room WITHOUT cockroaches) and a hot shower.
Hammocks, a small pool, roof terrace, makes you want to hang out all day and have some chill time.
I do want to mention that if you walk the wrong way there are a lot of drunks trying to get your attention. So just keep the direction of the cathedral 😊
It was nice to meet other travellers and take a trip to the volcano together.
100% recommend Casa Verde.

You see a lot of crap online of wether or not Santa Ana is safeS we had zero problems and never felt unsafe at all. Santa Ana and El Salvador in general have made huge inprovements in safety these last years. The town is nice , you'll strugle to find a building with more than 2 stories. It has preserved it's old world charm. Not supermany things to do or see but a good base to go exploring from

The road especially the side streets are horrible.
The road especially the side streets are horrible. Needs a traffic officer in all the main road that are under construction even at night. I closed my eyes hoping that my husband won’t hit a vehicle as he drove on tight traffic areas. I’m worried that our rental car won’t break down on the unpaved roads- lots of rocks and open pits.
The Santa Ana people are very helpful and kind.

I really liked the Santa Ana Cathedral.
I really liked the Santa Ana Cathedral. As an amateur photographer, I also liked the colorful and dilapidated buildings around the cathedral. They made a great backdrop for street photography. Unfortunately, I spent only a day here so I was not able to see or do many things in the area. It is a great location to jump off the Ruta de las Flores though. I’m definitely happy that I decided to start the route here and not from San Salvador.

Santa Ana is a medium sized city tucked in the mountains.
Santa Ana is a medium sized city tucked in the mountains. The market is fun to explore and cathedral and theatre are gorgeous. Outside of town there are ruins, volcanoes, and a lake within an hour. The town doesn't have much tourism which gives it a more authentic feel, but also means you won't find many good restaurants around the square or at night.
Mr Carlos and his enthusiastic team really make you feel like home. Very nice location close to the city centre but quiet. Ample common parts (kitchen, inner courtyard, pool area, roof-top-terrace). Quick laundry service. Clean rooms and common parts thoroughout my entire stay. Very delicious offer of breakfast and dinner. Great support regarding tours to many landmarks of western El Salvador (i.e. volcano Santa Ana, Ruta de las Flores, Joya de Ceren).
everything was amazing with this property! the host went above and beyond to make sure that we had the best time in Santa Ana. checked with us when we wanted breakfast and gave us recommendations for things to do each day and how to make the most out of our time in El Salvador. I can’t thank Luiz enough! His sons were also very helpful with directions and recommending activities for our trip as well. a great place to stay and we will be back!
Friendly staff (David at front desk is great), comfy bed, nice roof seating area, water refills, beer or sodas, fantastic "tipico" breakfast. Room was simple but comfortable. Location was good; maybe 10min walk to the historic center main plaza/national theatre & several pupuserias less than 1/2mi from hotel. Yes there is some street noise but I sleep with earplugs so not a problem. Overall a good value & I would definitely stay here again.
Best hostal in Central America so far. Marvin, Nestor and the rest of the crew are really nice, welcoming and willing to help. The hostal itself is well located and is perfectly sized with about 8 rooms a common area and a terrace. The rooms are really clean with A/C and really comfortable beds. Breakfast is even included and is really nice as well. But above all the people who work here make it the best place in Santa Ana.
Excellent place to base yourself for Santa Ana & vicinities exploration. Clean, well maintained, equipped with great kitchen for self-cooking and what most important the owner Aminta is a very kind and genuine person who also speaks English that may help a lot for those who aren’t quite savvy to speak Spanish on a decent level.
We loved our stay at Pool House Hostel, Adri and Roberto were wonderful hosts and such lovely people! Adri helped us with all our bus routes around Santa Ana and the Ruta de Las Flores, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The hostel itself is so cosy and Coco and Blackie are the cutest pets!
The location is great, it's very close to all restaurants & downtown attractions nearby. They come and fix the room every 3 days which is nice and their staff always promotes hospitality. The room I stayed in had A/C which was great. However, their cleanliness is not the best which would improve the stay at this place.
It may be one of better accomodation options in Santa Ana, though it doesnt change the fact it is very rudimentary and of rather lower quality. Probably the restaurant may be an exception, which I didn’t try, but saw many locals coming over from outside just to dine out there.
Very close to the cathedral and town square, spacious room with high ceilings. Cute boutique hotel vibe, courtyard restaurant - breakfast is included. They arrange tours to the volcano. They also do laundry on site for a reasonable price.
Warm welcome by the family. Location.
Louis provided valuable information about the Santa Ana hike, places to eat and helped in booking shuttles to Guatemala.
His communication is spot on and always receptive to any questions.
Excellent hotel. The staff were amazing and very helpful in a few items we needed to get done. Laundry service available and for a great price. Cold ac, hot shower. Secure 24 hour parking. Excellent wifi.
