We were getting on a cruise and wanted to unwind ahead of it...
We were getting on a cruise and wanted to unwind ahead of it and get over jet lag (we were travelling from Australia). We stayed on the other end from downtown and the terminal. We had great access to the beach and the restaurants around here were great. Lots of little, what appeared to be mostly family owned. The neighbourhood was just that - a neighbourhood. Felt safe and lots of friendly people around. We did spend some time up near the cruise terminal with family who booked in a large well known hotel. It was way more sterile without the great restaurants and shops and certainly didn’t feel like a neighbourhood.MichaelAustralia - 10Scored 10

If you stayed in Belmont Shore in the last couple years...
If you stayed in Belmont Shore in the last couple years there was decline in the area. Belmont is back, new restaurants and shops have opened. Much less homeless, more police and security. I felt totally comfortable on the latest trip.Crumm - 10Scored 10

I was there for a triathlon, and the staff allowed me to keep my bike in my room. Location is great. Easy walking distance to Alamitos Beach, Convention Center, aquarium and other stuff in that area. There is a Vons a few short blocks away, and lots of restaurant choices in the area. Everything was clean, staff was friendly and helpful.
