FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills Are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart International Airport.

Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

    Beautiful scenery.

Beautiful scenery. Fun Sound of Music tour taken with Panorama tours (I’d recommend them). Lots of interesting places to view and visit. Great for walks and cafe/bar stops along the routes. We went by train to Vienna for a day trip and took a bus tour around the city. A full day and a little tiring but well worth it. Reception staff at the hotel booked the train and taxi tickets for us which was very helpful.

The most wonderful little jewel. Such a pretty town with so much to explore but all fairly compact. Loved the river trip. Loved the lift up to the top of the Munchsburg, the beautiful walks and the great little cafe at the top. Loved the Hohensalzburg fortress and all the history. Loved the Mozart concert in the Mirabell palace. Loved the buildings, the river, the shops, the cafes and restaurants. Will recommend to everyone

Salzburg is nice place to visit and its location is between wonderful cities which can be easily reached either by car, buses or train during your stay at Salzburg. 1. Hallstatt is one of the best places ( almost 1 hour and 10 minutes by car). 2. Zell am see / Kaprun (1:36 hrs by train or car).

Its a beautiful city to explore and enjoy You might need at least 5 days to explore the city (2 days) and near by attractions (3 days). I would recommend Salzburg over Vienna to visit. Must visit places with family (all attractions close by 6 pm): 1) Old city 2) Mozart Birth place 3) Mozart Living house 4) Stroll across the River 5) Fortress Hohensalzburg (need full day) 6) Dom Church and other churches around the old city Near by attractions (full day for each attraction): 7) Salt mine 8) Hallstatt town 9) other mountain/ski attractions

The hotel is an easy 5 minute walk from the train station. It is also an easy 15 minute walk to the Old Town with plenty to see on the way including shops and restaurants . There is a beautiful riverside walk at he end of the street which also leads to the Old Town. We found the hotel's location perfect for our sightseeing outings. The rooms were very large and spacious. The front desk was very accommodating and friendly. During the day, the area was nice, it was very close the train station but at night time, it was sketchy around the area, lots of young kids drinking and looking at us funny, one even followed us back to hotel but when my husband confronted him, he left. It was scary but during the day we felt safe and it was fine to walk around. Easy to walk to Maribel Palace and old town Salzburg. Parking was convenient.

The hotel was a 10-minute walk to the old town as well as being in close proximity to supermarkets for those wishing to buy local specialties. The room itself was large, quiet, had excellent wifi and was very clean. Definitely worth the stay.

Very affordable and nice hotel for an overnight or two, with a decent location, close to the border with Germany and the airport, but also fairly quick access to the city centre of Salzburg. Breakfast was nice, with plenty of choices, nice coffee too. Room is basic, but clean and pretty comfortable.
