The location was very nice, out in the country. We listened to crickets all night instead of cars and sirens and it was dark, no streetlights! The suite was well appointed with comfortable seating and a TV. Hostess had already prepared our coffee for morning, all we had to do was turn it on. There was a nice assortment of goodies in the fridge for breakfast/snacking.
This Port Alberni bed and breakfast offers air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi. It has a garden with a barbecue. Free parking is available on site. Breakfast is included.

Fantastic buffet breakfast, super friendly hosts. Among other things, they recommended a nearby place to see salmon spawning with black bears attempting to catch them. Our favorite stay of our Vancouver Island trip. We weren't bothered by road noise, unlike some other reviews. We only wish we'd stayed more than one night

We stayed in Port Alberni as a stopover on our short vacation to the coast; accordingly, it is difficult to assess/review the town. I met one lovely couple while banking and was greatly impressed by their friendliness and willingness to help a total stranger.

Port Alberni is relatively easy to get around.
Port Alberni is relatively easy to get around. Lovely hiking spots and parks. Great sports areas. On the beautiful ocean inlet, with fabulous views. A variety of shops and restaurants. The gateway to the wild west coast. First Nations cultural experiences available.
I would not forget my cell phone charger so that getting around might be even easier with GPS.
My favourite was going on a dog walk with my hosts along a lovely wild path by a stream with waterfall and a beautiful kingfisher.

Staff smoke in the lobby
Staff smoke in the lobby
They bring their children to work and children are constantly pulling the fire alarms
Rude service some staff were nice though
Maid did not ever clean the rooms
No more breakfast
Broken vending machines
Not safe for children
Fire hazard as there’s no cover on fire place
And the laundry shoot door is always open a child could fall through that
Over priced for what they provide
Not impressed and the location is filled with drug addicts and homeless people
Maids steal your medication too
Poor service all on all

We enjoyed the activities at the Harbour Quay.
We enjoyed the activities at the Harbour Quay. Farmer's market, evening music and evening strolls along the water while enjoying small shop products. Great restaurants and cafes to choose from. Our favourites: Boomerang Cafe and Bare Bones (platter for two) . Bamfield trip by boat. Sproat lake swimming. Stamp River Provincial park where we saw the salmon going up the waterfalls and bears coming around. ( we learned from a native family at the river to clap loudly, everyone clapping with whatever you had at hand, to get the big black bear approaching to run away). We found people were very friendly and would always greet you. Many cafes and places we did not have time to go to are in our calendar for next time around. Beware restaurants close early in Port Alberni so check closing times before heading out to eat. Overall, great memories of Port Alberni.

We did a few local hikes like the Hole in the Wall and Cathedral Grove. Our hosts recommended another one we did in the morning called Little Qualicum Park where they had views of the upper and lower falls. We visited a brewery and took in the beautiful scenery. Impressed with the stores they had, didn’t know Port Alberni was so big! Would definitely recommend travellers check out this nice place on the island!
This is a classic B&B in a good location in Port Alberni. The rooms are inside the house and shared with the host couple who live there. There are 2 rooms with a shared bathroom on the second floor and a suite above that with an included bathroom.
The hosts are very nice and attentive, and the house is welcoming and inviting. Bill, your host, will take your suitcases up the stairs which is a big help. The meals are tasty and freshly prepared. The hosts are strict about check-in time so don’t show up before 5 PM.
Great location right in the heart of Port Alberni within easy walking distance of several good restaurants. The owners are super nice, friendly, accommodating, etc. Bouchra’s breakfasts are fantastic. She incorporates many Moroccan spices into her cooking. The sleeping accommodations are snug to say the least. The rooms are tiny with bunk beds. The beds are very comfortable. The lower lounge area is very comfortable. It is a great place for the guests to mingle, get to know each other and exchange ideas.
The accommodation is excellent with very good furnishings, plus it is immaculately clean. The lounge area is large and the dining area has microwave, coffee maker, kettle and fridge. Breakfast was lovely - all home made! Yvonne and Bob are perfect hosts and couldn’t have done more for us. Bob took us to Stamp River, where we saw bears fishing and loads of salmon jumping up the waterfalls. We even got a ride to a local restaurant. Such hospitality!
If you like ships and the sea, this is a must to go place. Very special. The hosts are very kind and make you feel very welcomed. Very good and freshly cooked breakfast. Even though it´s not a bargain, compared to the prices in Tofino it´s still very good value for money and you can easy go for and back to the coast on the same day. Don´t expect the sapce of a 5star hotel, it´s a ship ;-).....
The suite was fantastic and suited our family of 5 perfectly. The staff at the front desk was super friendly. Every morning there was a knock on the door asking us if we needed anything; no other hotel during our stay in BC went out of their way to that extend to look after their customers! Super impressed!
Bill prepared a yummie rich breakfast and even dinner, which made us truely feel like staying in a nice hotel, with the advantage and charme of a family like athmosphere. Dinner even was for free, definitely outstanding! We also got helpful travel advice, so stay there if you are around Port Alberni!
We got a ground floor room so access to our vehicle was amazing. We have a 1 year old and it wasn’t an issue at all, rooms are soundproof and the motel is family friendly. We might just like Motels better now for family trips.
Restaurant's were very close. Staff was excellent!
Room price was the Best in town and got good quality for the room. Good Hot water. Very Clean bathroom. Smoke from smokers outside did not permeate into my room.
Char was TREMENDOUS in greeting us to her place. She gave AWESOME information on the area plus recommendations for restaurants and worked to get us reservations. We plan to stay there again, someday.
The room was immaculate, the bedding luxurious, and the hosts gracious. They provided lots of information about the area, restaurants, and the traffic delays to make sure we didn't get caught.
Owners were so welcoming and accommodations were fantastic. Every little detail was thought of and breakfast was fantastic. I thoroughly recommend staying at Berkie’s Bed and Breakfast!
