This hotel was fabulous! Room was very spacious, spotless and had a huge comfy bed! Shower was modern and powerful. Staff were wonderful, helpful and so friendly. The manager Jen was credit to the Holiday Inn chain. Breakfast was tremendous, one of the best we have ever had in a Holiday Inn or any chain hotel of it's kind. Lots of choice, quality produce, very well cooked and presented. Fruit and bread items were very fresh.
We attended for Dave Day and were part of the bike procession. There was parking for the motorbike and a towel to wipe the wet seat the next day!! They even had placed a commemorative gift of the event in our room which was such a lovely and thoughtful touch.

It was Very tastefully decorated. The staff were helpful & friendly. We attended a babyshower & stayed over. The buffet food at the babyshower & the breakfast was delicious & plentiful. The room was warm, clean & comfortable. Unfortunately it was raining on arrival therefore we didn't venture outside during our stay.

Barrow has so much history.
Barrow has so much history. It is ideally situated for the lakes and Walney Island is just a stone throw away. The Round House Cafe at Biggar Bank on the island is well worth a visit whatever the weather.JOHN - 6.0Scored 6.0

Lovely area would suit most people.
Lovely area would suit most people. There are hidden gems if you like to explore. Plenty of shopping facilities. Easy to eat out at reasonable prices. The roads are clearly signed and easy to navigate. A great base for either staying in Barrow-in=Furness or travelling around the lakes daily. A quiet holiday to extreme adventures, your choice is within the Lake District.

Hotel does not provide value for money, much better hotels available for cheaper price. Pockets of good/excellence from staff, but major improvements required in the hospitality food preparation particularly for breakfast, which was extremely dissappointing. Generally, grounds are okay but nothing particularly special, the description and photos, do not accurately reflect the experience. Would not take much to improve all round, as a number of staff were very nice and supportive.

We were going to Walney Island for a family function and the King Alfred hotel and staff were such a lovely part of our trip. The staff addressed each need we had. We were travelling in a larger group with a one-year old. The staff were so accommodating and pleasant. The rooms were large, warm, and very comfortable. I would also recommend the restaurant. The food was excellent and the portions were enormous. Also, be sure to visit the adult play park just down the road. That was a fun!
