Our first impression of the hotel especially from the outside was not good because it appears old and weary. We were well received and showed to our room which was clean and tidy. The room is equipped with a fridge, kettle and coffee/tea, air conditioner, safe and hairdryer. The breakfast was good with friendly staff although the dining room is small and very crowded. Free parking maybe a problem but luckily we didn’t have any. Hotel is situated in an excellent location and walking distance from downtown.
Located within a 15-minute walk from the city centre, Hotel Barbakán has air-conditioned rooms with cable TV, a desk and free wired internet. Free public parking is possible by the hotel.

Everything was great and as advertised. Breakfast was lovely with a lot ıf choices, exceeded our expectations. Possible a la carte restaurant for lunch or dinner which was a life saver for Easter where many places were closed. Room was very spacious and location easily reachable downtown. Spa area was small but very well maintained. Spent a lovely evening there. All in all great hotel, great service and amenities for a reasonable price. Do not hesitate

My mom and I had a delightful stay in one of the hotel’s two-bedroom apartments. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the cleanliness and the fantastic location. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and were incredibly accommodating throughout our entire stay.
One of the highlights was the serene wellness area, which we were able to enjoy without the crowds due to the fewer number of guests during our visit.
Overall, our experience was exceptional, and we highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a clean, well-located accommodation with incredibly friendly staff!

Pécs is a lovely place in Hungary with an expansive cultural heritage. The Cathedral, Széchenyi square and Zsolnay quarter are just a few of the must see spots. You can have very good food and wine (or beer) in Király street.
If you're feeling adventurous, Mecsek has the most amazing trails But even if you don't have whole day for hiking just make sure to visit Tettye and walk up to the observatory there.
Pécs is doable by foot most of the times, but has very accessible bus service as well. You can buy tickets on the bus with cash (forint).
Make sure to check the actual events (and book in advance) to experience the street market vibes, when all the best wineries of Hungary and traditional food stalls represent themselves.
See you in Pécs!

Pecs is a terrific little picturesque town with heaps of interesting churches, a mosque, a synagogue, museums and ancient burial sites. Most things are very close by. On Sunday everything is closed except cafes and it's like a ghost town which is good for avoiding hordes of tourists. Pecs is neat as a pin and would probably win a tidy town contest. There's plenty of food places and our favorite was the Korheli pub. I'm glad we chose to stop here for a couple of nights.

Not a crowded city, plenty of things to see. Older waiters and cashiers don't really speak foreign languages, even basic stuff was hard to convey to them, so have that in mind. Younger ones are more fluent in that department.

Many of the sights -- the Csontvary Museum, the Cathedral, in particular, are within easy walking distance of the Fonix hotel, where I stayed. The city is the home of a university, so the streets were filled with students and other young people. My trip was a Wednesday day trip by train from Budapest, so other than the main sights and the fact that the performance in the theatre was a one-man show in Hungarian, which I do not speak, I regret not having planned another, full day. The next time I visit Hungary, I'll spend a couple of days in Pécs; for what I saw whetted my appetite for more.

It's a beautiful city, has great restaurants, and quite a few things to do.
There are good places particularly for Italian food and seafood amazingly in this very landlocked city.
Plenty of quirky places to visit such as the cat cafe and the mosque church.

Lots of history in this tiny little town.
Lots of history in this tiny little town.
Beautiful historic downtown with great restaurants, bakeries to die for.
Roman ruins all over Pecs, St. Istvan tee with beautiful cathedral. Underground Roman ruins.
Near by wine country and thermal bath only about 30- 40 min drive.
Lively nightlife , very vibrant, very clean city.
We booked this apartment on a whim, having decided to extend our stay in Hungary, and we were so fortunate it was available. The garden is gorgeous and the apartment is so full of light and calm, and very tastefully decorated. Parking was a breeze, and Zsuzsi was so welcoming and easy to communicate with. The location is perfect, just steps off a main drag full of cafes, restaurants and fun bars, which means we could make the most of this last-minute trip without having to do too much research in advance. I would highly recommend it!
The apartment is bigger than it looks on the pictures. Very spacious and clean, good WiFi connection, within walking distance from the city center and the shopping mall. Even though there is no parking provided within the building, there is plenty of parking available on the street. The hostess Marietta is very sweet and was helpful since the moment we booked the apartment until we left Pecs. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon. I will definitely recommend the apartment to everyone.
This hotel is up the hill. 20 mins away to and fro the center on foot, however bear in mind that steep return may be strenuous for some people. On site restaurant is very good, you can park on site. Rooms are comfortable and breakfast is very good and hearty. Check to see that the location is convenient for you purposes while in Pecs, else this hotel is a clear ten. Our room had a small balcony with nice view of Pecs in the distance. If in Pecs again we would definitively stay there.
This wasn't our first visit, and it certainly won't be our last. We keep coming back to this amazing little hotel for so many reasons. Amazing little hotel, super nice people, delicious and rich breakfast, spacious but cosy room, super comfy bed. The location is perfect, quiet street, but easily accessible. The city center and the sights of Pécs are just a few minutes walk from the hotel.
I love the hospitality of the staff as well as the location of the hotel. It is very tidy and cosy. The rooms are nicely equipped and if you fancy for a dinner in your hotel room there is a small kitchen which can cover all necessary needs. Great place to stay!
Even though the kitchen is fairly equipped in the rooms don't forget to bring some dishwasher liquid with you ;)
Lovely little hotel in the center of Pecs will offer you with superclean rooms with a comfy bed and big terrace, but the best thing about it are the most customer-friendly and kind staff. Peter from the reception sorted everything quickly for us via e-mail and Frank from the spa gave us the best massage. This was perfect and we are definitely staying here again sometimes!
This hotel offers excellent value. It has a quiet, central location and splendid views from the terrace. A generous breakfast is included. The staff are friendly and helpful. When I requested a clean glass and cup (3 night stay!) I was told I was supposed to do my own washing up, but they brought them anyway. Room was well-equipped. Historic building.
For roughly $90/night. I was expecting a bed and a room. We got a suit with a kitchenette . The continental breakfast had hot and cold foods, at least 5 different meats, 4 cheeses, excellent bread, among other things .
The reception was very helpful and friendly. We probably not return to Specs, but we highly recommend the Fordan Hotel
This place was amazing. Well located (10 minute walk from the center of town), clean, spacious (beyond what I expected) and totally, totally great! This was, for the money, the best place I have stayed in Hungary. I received a long, detailed text that made check in so easy and trouble free! Everything was complete n the apartment.
Quiet place in the wood, for therapy as name suggest. Top notch cleanliness, service. All staff was great but young lady Flora, on reception, was a real gem. Her professional approach, helpfulness was a great presentation of Hotel Therapia. If we again come to Pecs, this hotel would be our pick without a doubt.
We loved our accomodation. The staff is so kind and polite, our room was impeccable and surpassed our expectations, and the breakfast was great. Check in and check out were so easy, no hustle.
Would recommend to everyone traveling to Pecs and want to stay in a nice hotel.
Excellent little hotel with a cute esthetic, in the heart of the center of Pécs. Friendly staff and definitely value for money. It also has a nice little restaurant/ pizzeria with vegan options.
Overall a very fair and nice establishment
A very central simple hotel with a good solid breakfast to start the day with. Excellent value for money in a very nice location. Stayed several times there and I always return. Relatively small room, but I do not need more.
The location was great, very close to central Pécs. The flat was clean and spacious and very fast Wifi, which is always a bonus! Communication with the management was always quick and responsive.
This hotel is really something. The interior design is very very harmonic and posh,, it smells nice everywhere.. The rooms are spacious and modern. The floor heating in the bathroom is priceless.
Very good hotel for a short stay in the beautiful city of Pecs. Close to the center, convenient private parking, recommended. Breakfast not very sophisticated;))) but sufficient
Very close to downtown, 5 min walking distance. They also have a closed parking lot and a 24h reception. Fairly low priced hotel, all in all it is recommended.
