Don’t miss the palace in the fort and the temple just outside the fort (saas bahu temple). Also make it a point to visit Mitawli and Padavali
There is no public transport… best is to hire a cab for the day

I have stayed in Gwalior four times over the last ten years.
I have stayed in Gwalior four times over the last ten years. The Gwalior Fort is one of the most impressive I have seen and a very rewarding visit. I have used Gwalior as a base for visits to other historic sites around Morena and Orchha, which have been a couple of my favorite destinations within driving distance from Delhi.

The fort was very good.
The fort was very good. However, the guide spent less time with us. There are other structures that are architecturally very good and one must not miss like the saas bahu temple, the surya temple and the saas bahu temple. The food in Gwalior is average.

I've been to Gwalior twice.
I've been to Gwalior twice. I've not found much charm in the city itself but the Fort and Temples within the fort walls are magnificent. Interesting Jain statues carved into the mountainside on the vehicle approach side to the fort. If I were to go back I'd be interested in walking the ramparts of the outer fort wall.
The Taj and the Neemrana are two excellent heritage hotels to choose from in Gwalior.
A two hour drive south is the city of Orchha, which has become one of my favorite places that I've visited in India because of its rich inventory of temples, chatris and forts, all located within a lovely and peaceful rural setting.
The entire setup of the property..Smooth checkin process.. Spacious rooms and ventilation..Huge balcony and entire society view ...Music system, lights, Android TV, Utensils for any kind of cooking .
Overall it was a lovely property to stay in..you need not to worry about anyth as the host has taken care of every basic necessities..
I would always prefer this apartment instead of Hotels in Gwalior
The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed. The hotel was a very short and easy walk from great places like the Gwalior Fort and Tansen's tomb. The view from the room balcony was surprisingly great! The rooms were basic, but spacious and comfortable enough. It was excellent value for money in this price range.
As one comes to expect of a Taj Hotel, the service is superb. The immaculately maintained property is architecturally rich environment that is a treat to ones senses. Gwalior is a destination very worth visiting. After a day of exploring forts, temples and gurdwaras, the lounge/bar Taj is a wonderful place to return to and the bartender knows how to make a proper gimlet!
The property is excellent, the staff was polite and helpful. The roof top space, from where we could see the imposing Gwalior Fort, is the highlight. We spent both evenings admiring the view. The place is well connected too, overall 10/10 points. Unfortunately, we couldn't meet the owner, I was told he is an amazing person, maybe next time we will get that chance.
Hotel location is very good. Rooms are big neat and clean.amanities are of good quality. Breakfast was delecious with wide range of selection. Restaurant staff priya was very helpful. Like wise front office staff Uttam was very helpful and cooperative.overall i will definetly advise to stay Above all tariff was very reasonable.
The property was excellent and the support staff was very cooperative in addition to resolving small issues they were very prompt in helping out and guiding local planning for site seeing.. Also appreciate the owner who was always a phone call away.. Would like to stay again at the same house if and when in gwalior....
