Fraendgardur, hotel in Hofsós

Both free Wifi and parking on-site are accessible at Fraendgardur free of charge. The lake views are a highlight at the apartment's pool.

This is an absolutely charming apt at the marina. There is a small water fall next to the building as well. The house is 24 years old but rebuilt to the original plans. This includes how the windows and doors are secured (very old school but charming and part of the overall experience).

Beautiful location on a beach in the country side. The rooms were modern and very comfortable. We used the kitchen to make our own dinner. This place is a perfect refuge. The host prepared breakfast and we enjoyed his company. Should have stayed longer.

Hótel Tindastóll, hotel in Hofsós

Located in the northern Iceland coastal village of Saudárkrókur, this property is 90 minutes’ drive from central Akureyri. It offers free Wi-Fi, an on-site bar and an outdoor geothermal hot tub.

Love the classical European style of the hotel. The decorations make it really vibey. The wifi is strong, and the room offers the most comprehensive package we've seen in all Iceland hotels we've seen. There's body lotion, tea bags, tissue paper, a big trashcan, a big table (though broken), and a big TV. The reception and the dining area are very cozy, and there's also a hot bath outside.

Hofsstadir Farmhouse, hotel in Hofsós

Set in the Skagafjördur region, this family-run farmhouse is 20 minutes’ drive from Saudárkrókur. It offers a terrace and free parking.

We stayed in one of the 3 en suite rooms which were located just down the road from the main guest rooms. The views were just gorgeous. Our lamb dinner was the best we had in Iceland. It is family operated - they and all the staff were exceptional. Probably our favorite accommodation during our 10 days in Iceland.

It is a beautiful quaint small town located on the northern coast of Iceland. There is also a river and multiple waterfalls and beautiful hills all around. A wonderful place to watch the northern lights as well. We saw the Aurora for 2 consecutive nights in early October, 2022.

Hofsos was a nice little town, but by travelling further around the peninsula to Siglufjordur a much nicer town with more choices of restaurants and sights is available. We wish we had stayed there instead.

The emigration centre is worth a visit and because it sits in Port it’s a nice setting to walk around. There is a picnic table close by and right next-door a good restaurant with a patio . A must in the town is the swimming pool ( thermal bath/ infinity pool) which also has an amazing view from right in the pool. Rules for showering should be adhered to - naked (people WILL insist) because they use very little chlorine everyone needs to be clean before they go in the pool. Communal shower but women & men separate. Clean bathing suit. There’s a good grocery store but note hours for a grocery stores in Iceland may be shorter than you are used to. Plan ahead
