Good communication from host It was an experience to stay in a historical home. We slept in the two rooms downstairs. Upstairs and some other rooms seem to be used as storage but you can look around most of it, it’s huge. Toilets and laundry/vanity are updated, the bathroom is dated but fine to use. If you are passing through or walking the Nakasendo it’s a good option. Easy walk from the train station. Dining options are limited but there is a huge supermarket, drug store, and 7-11 in easy walking distance. We went to the Chinese restaurant which was passable but wouldn’t repeat. The temple is just a short walk away, we didn’t go in but the garden is nice.

Really great concept of turning an old school to something useful instead of it going to waste. We loved the fact that the old character of the school was still there. The location is just 5 mins away from the main area in Magome. Staff were really attentive to your needs and more than helpful. Ayana was so kind to help us with purchasing our bus tickets to Nagoya as the website refused to be translated to English. They have gone above and beyond.
