The accommodation offers a shared kitchen, and luggage storage for guests. The owners are very nice people and they live just across the road. They also have a nice cafe there. When I arrived, during check in, their children were there doing their homework in the cafe. Thus, it made me feel at home, and being glad that what I paid would be going to directly support a family, and not shareholders of a large hotel chain. The hostel is very clean, and I could have the privacy I needed with their setup of private rooms, yet benefiting from the hostel atmosphere experience. Very comfortable single bed, better than some hotels I stayed here in Japan. Laundry was free and they provided detergent. They recommended a very good izakaya in the vicinity. Finally, their garage provided a safe place to store my bicycle.

There is a lovely common space where you can cook and hang out! The beach right down the street is beautiful and empty and you can rent so many different water activities! Only thing: restaurants around the place are often closed or far away, you can take the bus there (which is going every half an hour until ~19:00) or make sure you have at least something you can eat ready at the hostel so in case you don't find something you are settled. There is a convenience store right next to the hostel.

The place was clean, self check-in was simple, and there were some nice extra features like laundry, free snacks, and Netflix. (I treated myself to a movie on New Year's Eve!). The bunk in the dorm was so comfortable, and the fans and windows made sure it didn't get stuffy. Lots of rules and instructions, but they were clearly printed so easy to use Google Translate on.

The property is non-smoking and is set 2.6 km from Kagoshima Chuo Station. It's such a great, homey hostel. Shoko, the receptionist, was amazing, hung out with us, and helped us with recommendations. Would absolutely come again!
