Book the double time in the evening if you can (Giotto under the Stars); this will give you 40 minutes in the chapel instead of the usual 20 minutes. Even 40 minutes was a bit too short! The Sistine Chapel is more well-known, but I enjoyed my time in the Scrovegni Chapel more.

It was wonderful!
It was wonderful! I had studied Art History in college and always wanted to see it. It did not disappoint! Painted in 1306 by the Master Giotto and his students. Giotto was the first to give paintings feeling. Yes, they are stiff, but have human emotions. See the angels at Christs death- they are torn up that Jesus is dead. One angel is marking her face with her fingernails! The parting of the lovers, I can feel how much they love each other and how much they will miss eachother.
The chapel is set in a QUIET park with modern artwork in the reception building and modern sculpture in the gardens.
In the back of the property is a cafe decorated with Italian Maidens- such a serene setting.

Heavenly. Plan on visiting again and again.
Heavenly. Plan on visiting again and again. It becomes endlessly a different experience each time.
The better prepared you are for viewing the series of frescoes, the more you will appreciate Giotto’s achievement.

Well worth the visit, but if you book an early morning visit be aware that the ticket office doesn't open until very shortly before your ticket time. Don't worry ( I did) it works, even if it is a confusing and stressful wait.

Property was very clean, with very nice stovetop and oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and washing machine and the building has an elevator. Owner was very nice and helpful. Property is in perfect location for St. Anthony's Basilica (approx. 5 minute walk). Very close to restaurants, good grocery store (PAM - a few minutes walk) and Scrovegni Chapel and museums (approx. 15 minute walk). Taxi to/from property is easiest way to get to/from train station. Approx. 12-14 Euros for 2 people per trip.
Our host was a delightful, lovely woman… so accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately our Italian was not fluent enough to communicate well with her. The BnB itself was totally modern (like a NYC apartment); fully stocked kitchen, great shower. Sixth floor, good lift. About 12 min walk to Scrovegni Chapel.
Very clean, modern, comfortable. Refrigerator in room which is less common than in the US. Breakfast included was exceptional. Location chosen because I was driving an electric car and this hotel had free parking (that we were able to use before check in) and was very close to 3 charging stations. Yet we could still walk to central Padova in under 30 minutes (20 minutes to Scrovegni Chapel), mostly in the historical city.
This was a large, clean and quite well located apartment (just a few minutes walk from the Scrovegni chapel). The shower was hot and the bed was comfortable and the kitchen was stocked for basic cooking. The train station was about a 10-15 minute walk away. They let us leave our bags in the foyer prior to check in.
I am older and handicapped, so Angela kindly made special arrangements to meet me, both when I arrived and when I was departing. She was the best thing about this rental! The location is fabulous if the Scrovegni Chapel is high on your destination list! Everything about the apartment is adequate to good. The air conditioner worked well for the bedroom, thank goodness!
This is a truly special, spectacular place. Literally, it is an apartment within a palace that’s dates from
the 15th Century. It is decorated with great traditional Italian style. The family still lives within the palazzo. It is very central, 5 minutes to Scrovegni Chapel. Loads of shops, bars, restaurants all within short walk. Superb all round!!!
We loved the location just steps away from the Scrovegni Chapel and the sights of lovely Padua. We saw the Chapel at night and it was terrific to just toddle back to the room afterwards. (Pro tip: if you want to spend more than 15 minutes inside the Chapel, at night, you can buy tickets to successive showings!) It was a doable walk from the train station. The hotel was also very reasonably priced. The staff was friendly, responsive and helpful. We loved our time at the Scrovegni Room and Breakfast!
From the street, the place does not look inviting, nor the immediate location. But once you enter the "Loft", everything changes: lovely, characterful place, and the location (close to train station, 15 minutes easy walk to Scrovegni Chapel) is excellent.
Gorgeous apartment, very comfortable bed and quiet street. Perfect spot for visiting the Scrovegni Chapel and the rest of the town - also easy to park the car in a secure lot 5 minutes away. Friendly check-in with Luisa. Nice to have the breakfast vouchers too. Highly recommend !
This was our favorite accommodation of a three week trip travelling throughout Italy. First of all, imagine staying in part of a renovated palace for two nights for a reasonable price. Our hosts were so welcoming and helpful. Our large apartment was scrupulously clean and fully equipped. The location is a perfect starting point for the sites of old Padua, especially the incredible Scrovegni Chapel. We were also served a scrumptious breakfast in an elegant dining room.
