In the Rio Dulce river near a 16th century castle the Tortugal Boutique River Lodge peninsula is bathed by almost constant on shore breezes providing a cool and refreshing place. Within five minutes of placing a call we were whisked off to this charming riverside location. Our pleasant host, welcomed us and showed us to our well appointed room. Special thanks to Angie who was really helpful. The breakfast was first class as was the service. I just wish we had the time to stay longer.

El Hotelito Perdido is a little jungle hideaway located in a middle of Rio Dulce National Park. A unique jungle experience! Beautiful setting, very helpful and friendly staff and owners and pretty and clean cabañas....and tasty food! Make no mistake, you're in the rainforest. So, you hear birds and animals and have to travel by boat or canoe. Highly recomendable.

Hotel Posada Stella Maris in Puerto Barrios features 5-star accommodations with a garden and a shared lounge. Featuring a concierge service, this property also provides guests with a playground. There is big enough and clean room with nice moutain views balcony. Also there is shared kitchen can be used. Very warm and helpful host. It is located Santo Tomas de castile, easy to take a taxi ( 30 GTQ ) or chicken bus( 3GTQ) from puerto Barrios center. Recommend to take couple days to chill out. There is walkable to beach and waterfall. The accommodation fee all goes to charity.

Located in Izabal, 28 miles from Castle of San Felipe de Lara, Reserva Natural Cañón Seacacar has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Perfect place hidden in a small village. It’s the only accommodation in the village and has been build to help the local community. The first language in the village is Q’eqchi, the children are now learning Spanish in school from about age 5. The staff of the hotel is from the village and for them it is a place to learn and work in tourism. They are all very friendly and helpful. If you want to have a great Guatemalan experience in one of the most beautiful places of Guatemala, where the crowds don’t go (yet), this is where you want to go! I reached the hotel by a two hour trail that is insanely beautiful, constructed by the people of the village, easy to follow and a good climb to two wooden miradors with lake and jungle views. Always with the sound of absolutely fantastic river ‘sauce’ on the background. The next day I went down on a tube and they carried my bag down. The tubing in the river is what will drop your yaws!! Absolutely beautiful, a cañón with high Walls on both sides. Everything is well organized and clean. It absolutely worth a visit! I’m writing this review because I could not believe that I was the only tourist there (on a Saturday)! You will not regret your visit and you will probably (hopefully) write a similar review to help this village and the people creating a better future for there town. There are several projects ongoing, including deforestation! Go and enjoy jungle, river and peace while enjoying great food and comfortable accommodation(affordable too!)

Livingston Resort Hotel has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Lívingston. Lovely boutique hotel. Loved the unique style of accommodation. Very friendly staff. Probably best value for money so far on the trip.

Casa Nostra has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Lívingston. With free WiFi, this 3-star hotel offers room service and a 24-hour front desk. Management and all staff were super friendly, accommodating, and professional. We also loved our view on the large balcony. The hotel restaurant is outstanding, excellent food with a beautiful view of the ocean and surrounding mountains. We would definitely recommend to others looking to stay in the area.

Hotel Kangaroo y Restaurante has a garden, shared lounge, a restaurant and bar in Río Dulce. The property has room service, a concierge service and currency exchange for guests. located in the national park in the middle of rainforest close to the river, accessible only by boat, there’s no noise from the street, only birds singing. I wish I could stay longer

Hotel La Casa Rosada has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Lívingston. Among the facilities at this property are room service and a tour desk, along with free WiFi throughout the property. I loved the cozy and comfortable loft. The view of the loft was awesome and I loved the breeze of the ocean in the open loft. The stuff was super helpful with informations about Livingston and what I can explore. The Topada and the cappuccino in the restaurant was simply amazing.

Located in Río Dulce, a 13-minute walk from Castle of San Felipe de Lara, Banana Palms Hotel has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. River view, restaurant & amenities were just right!
