We stayed only one night at the Hills by Blue Fox and we would have liked to stay more! The rooms are of a high standard, super cute, spotless clean, with super comfortable beds and very nice Italian showers. The view in the valley is just stunning, from the bedroom balcony to the breakfast rooftop terrace. On top of that, the owner and staff are very nice and helped us arrange a drive to the city and tickets for a traditional dance show. I would highly recommend this place in Kandy, location being just close enough to visit the city center but also a bit remote to enjoy the calm of the hills.

Best coffee, awesome food - dinner was also really tasty - the tuktuk driver took us everywhere, managed to get us best prices wherever we wanted to go - we extended our stay because we felt so good here

I really recommend the garlic rice and Chilli chicken 😅 we enjoyed the hotel facilities and next morning had a ride to ambuluwawa tower (30 minutes).

Set in Kandy, 800 metres from Bogambara Stadium, swp eco lodge offers air-conditioned rooms and a garden. The place is really beautiful and the views are superb, looking to the lake. Room is very spacious and comfortable, the bathroom is great. The breakfast is also very good, you have two options: continental and Sri Lankan (my husband tried the second one and was super satisfied, you can choose spicy or not). Is super well located, 10min walk from the Sacred Tooth Temple, actually you can see the temple from the room as it's on the other side of the lake. The only thing that I would mention is that is not very accessible by car, you have to walk 100m up, totally doable, I was 6m pregnant and was ok, but maybe not suited for everyone. We didn't ask but could be that there is the possibility to go by TukTuk.

Kandy is a nice place, but - maybe because its temple is a World Heritage site - it is always crowded. There is not much to see in the town itself one day is enough to visit these, but maybe better to skip it because of the traffic jams into, in and out of the town.

Perfect starting in Sri Lanka
We tried The Kandy Garden Coffee, near the lake. It was really good. Portions are big. Price are cool. We had the best tuk-tuk driver, who is Ramzan Abdul! Went to Sigiriya and Dambulla with him. He took us the best restaurant in Dambulla, Sakura restaurant! Try the place! And than he took us an Ayurvedic massage, what was pretty cool!

Kandy is a cool place after Colombo. The weather is much livable than in Colombo, and so for people's attitude toward foreigners. You can relax and you can easily go to other places outside of the city. Beside the usual things, don't miss the Royal Botanic Garden which you can get with a local price for very cheap. Everything in walking distance in the city. If you go around the lake you can see bats on the three, several kinds of bird, some reptiles in the water, if you like them.

Kandy is a very crowded, noisy place with high air pollution and busy traffic all over. The only thing you shouldn't miss, is the Royal Botanical Garden, it's fantastic. We were in the beautiful Tooth Temple around 6pm, and it was full of people, so unfortunatelly we couldn't enjoy at all.

Traffic is sluggish as you approach the city and within, calculate this into your plan. The Kandy dance is a must see. The temple of the tooth relic has a bit chaotic queues around the sanctuary, nevertheless it is a unique experience especially after sunset. Proper clothing is monitored here.

Randholee Resort & Spa is a hidden gem that impressed me with its top-notch service and breathtaking surroundings. The front office team was amiable, making us feel right at home. Upon entering our room, I was treated to a mesmerizing view of the majestic mountain range. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom is enormous and impeccably clean. The restaurant, overlooking the inviting swimming pool, offered a peaceful and relaxing ambience, and the meals were delicious. The infinity pool's view is awe-inspiring, and the Aloe Ayurvedic spa provides a truly professional and rejuvenating experience. For those seeking extra activities, the resort offers a well-equipped gym and badminton, squash, and table tennis facilities. Waking up to such a picturesque scene was a highlight of my visit. The bathroom, equipped with both a shower and bath, added to the overall convenience. Earl’s Regency boasts an impressive collection of Sri Lankan and English foods, making dining a delightful experience. The hotel's swimming pool, including a baby pool, provided a refreshing way to relax, complementing the overall leisurely ambiance. I highly recommend Earl’s Regency for its excellent staff, spacious and clean rooms, diverse food choices, and the added bonus of a magnificent mountain view from the balcony. It truly made my stay memorable and special!
