Set in Vianden, in a historic building, 200 metres from Vianden Chairlift, Ancien Cinema Loft is a recently renovated apartment with a bar and barbecue facilities. Every now and then you stay in accommodation that makes you wish you were able to live in permanently, and consider redecorating your own house. This is one of those places. The owners have exquisite taste in terms of decor, and at the same time have created a comfortable atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Small details (you can try their impressive tea collection and enjoy the equally impressive record and CD collection) make this so much more than just another hotel/apartment. The staff in the cafe downstairs are very friendly, and for a drink and something light to eat I would not bother going anywhere else. Vianden is a lovely town to walk around, visit the castle or do a bit of hiking.

The Vianden Cottage - Charming Cottage in the Forest has a patio and is situated in Vianden, within just 1 km of Vianden Chairlift and 1 km of Victor Hugo Museum. As soon as Glen stepped out of his car and greeted us (including our dog), we knew that the weekend couldn't go wrong! He gave us a guided tour inside the cozy cottage, literally in the middle of forest, yet still close enough to the village down the hill. We ordered some BBQ-ready food from Glen and oh, it was so delicious! The deck is covered, so you can BBQ even when it rains. The cottage is decorated with a lot of personal touch and it makes it very homy. In the morning, we could see squirrels and birds out of the windows. We are already planning to come back in the summertime!

Old fashion holiday in a beautiful country. Great people great building, history and sinery
We stayed in Vianden for a night in early January it was pretty deserted and bleak. I'm sure in the summer it would seem more attractive. The only saving grace for our visit was the restaurant at the Hotel Victor Hugo. The food was amazing, particularly recommend the cafe gourmand. Five delicious tiny desserts and coffee. The staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful.
The visit of the castle is a must. I also recommend nature walks around Vianden. If you stay overnight, a good choice in Vianden is the Hotel Victor Hugo (and its food). You can also have a good dinner in the restaurant "Aal Veinen" ("Beim Hunn").
There is not a lot to do in Vianden. Here's our suggestion for visiting Vianden in one day. Arrive in the morning, walk up the hill towards the castle, visit and descent around the castle towards the village. Have a nice lunch near the bridge over the river. In the afternoon, take the chair lift to the top of the hill, enjoy the view, follow the signs to the next viewpoint, walk through the forest, around the top of the hill and go downhill towards the church near the dam. Visit the dam and return to the village for dinner. You could add a visit to the Maison Victor Hugo (museum) before or after lunch if you like.
We like Vianden for its chairlift and cabin at the top, the forest adventure track, the castle, and the slow-paced hiking possibilities. Food is also significantly better than most Luxembourg. Plus it's a short drive away from Luxembourg City on a very modern and empty highway, surrounded by beautiful landscape - forests, rivers and valleys.
Vianden is a beautiful town with fascinating castle ! Access to walk along the river is not always easy but would thoroughly recommend for a short stay !
VIANDEN is one fabulous place to visit, very friendly, cosy and lovely scenery.it is easy and very cheap to get to luxenburg city or any other part of the principality by public transportation ticket cost 4 euros for a days travel on bus and trains anywhere in luxenburg.
This was our first visit to Luxembourg and we headed for Vianden as I had seen something on Facebook about the village. It didn't disappoint, it is in a beautiful location next to a huge castle which unfortunately we didn't have time to visit. There are several places to eat. We ate in the Ancien Cinema Club Cafe and what an interesting place. We were on a road trip back to Eastern Europe and this made an interesting stopover whilst also being able to stock up on cheap fuel.
Relaxed, non touristy - but very pretty town. Stay down near the bridge (next to the river)...the further up we went on the main road, the less inviting Vianden becomes. The castle on the cliff above the town isn’t too imposing, but rather is a stunning reminder of the medieval times when castles were a thing.
Vianden is very pretty setting with the Castle overlooking the town. There are many good options for meals and accomodation. The castle tour is excellent. The town is a good base for exploring the local region whether it be site seeing, castles, trekking or cycling. There are good bus links, but travelling by car will give best options.
Restaurant part of the establishment was really excellent. I would recommend anyone staying elsewhere in Vianden to come and visit the restaurant. Staff very helpful and proud of their property even if they could have said more to warn about unreliable Wi-Fi. Parking is not perfect but Vianden parking not easy and there is an acceptable solution with a free parking area quite close by which was well explained by proprietor. It may not be ideal for elderly guests but proprietor helpful when dropping off luggage before checking in.
I would say the second culprit of the Vianden (the first one is obviously the castle) is definitely the Victor Hugo hotel - it's in the heart of the town. The hotel is a part of the towns identity and it has a really long history. The hotel manager was exceptional - really friendly and nice, we were in good hands. The view from the room's window was magical, because we could see the castle. The beds were comfy, the room was spacious, really clean and we could park the car (for free) very close from the hotel!
Vianden
This has to be the coolest place we’ve ever stayed. A loft apartment in the heart of Vianden. Loved the apartment so much we didn’t want to leave. The owner Mac is excellent at communication and so helpful. The guy has great taste and an amazing record collection, so we had a bit of Dire Straits whilst having breakfast. Mac also owns the cafe below and the cinema, so so cool. We watched Tom & Jerry cartoons whilst having a drink, loved it. We’ll be back!!!
Vianden
Spacious and clean room with balcony. Kitchen has everything you need. Easy to pick up the keys at the campsite reception desk. Parking spaces next to the building. The gas station shop was convenient and has a little bakery section. It look us 15 minutes to walk to Vianden, nice walk alongside the river. Location was good to explore Luxembourg by car.

It is a great little hotel in a center of Vianden, with very homely atmosphere and friendly staff. We suspect that we got the best room there was in the hotel, with private bathroom - it was spacious, bright and very comfy. Breakfast was also top notch. It is a great find for the price.
