Facing the seafront in Kota Belud, Bigfin beach resort features a private beach area. Offering a restaurant, the property also has a garden. The property provides sea views and a terrace. We couldn't have been happier to stumble across this absolute paradise! From the moment you arrive you feel like you are meeting family. We loved the secluded beach, taking the kayaks out to explore the nearby islands, laying on the hammocks and sharing mealtimes with everyone. Our food was included in our stay and it was fantastic. The rooms are clean, comfortable and have the most incredible view of mount Kinabalu during sunrise. It was a real highlight of our travels in Malaysia and the perfect spot to avoid the crowds and appreciate the stunning scenery and local life. Don't hesitate to book!

Great little spot in a jungle neighborhood. Super friendly owners. We were hungry when we arrived and they were making chicken curry for their lunch, and added us to the preparations. Very unique location. I slept really well then off the next day for diving.

Featuring 3-star accommodation, Kokol Haven Resort is situated in Kota Kinabalu, 15 km from Filipino Market Sabah and 11 km from Likas City Mosque. Breakfast is ok but the view in the environment is like in heaven 10/10

Set within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park off the coast of Borneo, Gaya Island offers elegant villas with panoramic views of the South China Sea and the rainforest. This is the most amazing place! We almost didn’t go because of the reviews but so glad we went (other guest we spoke to also thought they were crazy!) The staff are the kindest, the food is amazing ( especially if you like Malaysian food) and the rooms with the views are gorgeous. It’s paradise. There’s a lot of trash in the waters around Gaya but the beach is getting cleaned everyday and the fact that the Hotel have Justin and his team of biologists restoring the corals, regrowing the mangroves and taking care of injured turtles really warmed our hearts. Hopefully more resorts will follow suit. If you’re elderly it’s difficult to walk up to the higher houses so maybe ask for a lower chalet before booking (for us it was fine) We had activities every day and if they were fully booked from the hotel Lamb in the reception organized to get us on other tours. We loved this place so much we extended our stay and still wished we had more days.

Sepilok Forest Edge Resort is a nature retreat in Sandakan, a 15-minute walk from the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Su has been really helpful 🙂 we loved our stay! Totally recommend them!
