We loved this ryokan and the hosts!
It was definitely the highlight of our trip.
Firstly, the rooms are huge, clean and warm. The beds are comfortable and there are beautiful two piece summer kimonos waiting on the bed for every guest. There is also a green tea set in every room and the host continually has kettles (thermos) with warm water ready by the reception, so you can always have a new batch if you run out of the one in your room or gets cold. The room gets cleaned every day, even our kimonos were folded and tea set replaced. There is a film- like japanese bath downstairs, which you can enjoy as a couple and have it all on your own.
The host was kind and a true embodiment of the word ‘hospitality’. He made us feel at home, he spent a lot of time informing us about different places to eat, various experiences to have and has a super google map he prepared with pins in various restaurants and coffee places he recommends, which he shared with us. After Kanazawa, we wanted to visit Takefu knife village, so he spared time to call different places there to make sure it is open and to find out more information for us. He is very detailed and was very keen on making sure we felt good.
He talked to us about his family and the heritage and answers sooo many of our question on Japan.
I would highly recommend this ryokan, as it is the most beautiful way to get fully immersed in the japanese culture!

All rooms are fitted with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a fridge. Yukata robes are provided. Staying here can’t be considered simply lodging, but an excellent experience of japanese culture itself. The building is impressive, traditional and well equipped, it even has a little stage for noh theater! The rooms are spacious and confortable and the best is the staff. Welcoming, diligent and friendly they will guide you through arrival, dinner and breakfast. The menu isn’t regular japanese dishes you may know, but a carefully curated dinner by the chef of the ryokan, that may not be suitable for more limited palates. The onsen, with three different little pools is a dream.

A very comfortable, well appointed Ryokan with exceptional service, delicious traditional breakfast and the best coffee we’ve had at a hotel (proper espresso machine). The owners are so kind and even waited with us for our taxi to arrive. Would stay here again!
Great location, close to the Geisha Village, Castle and a 20 minute walk from many bars and restaurants. The ryokan was lovely and traditional, I loved the Yukata's, the onsen which we were able to use privately, the green tea in our rooms and the tatami mats and futon set up. Bungo and his mother were very kind, friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a traditional experience at a reasonable price, then I would recommend this ryokan.
Nice experience in sleeping on a futon in a room of tatami. The room is a miniature apartement (with an equiped kitchen). Good service overall. Quite cheap.
It was my first stay at a ryokan and an absolutely great experience. Great location, an awesome room with a comfy bed, a mini onsen in the basement. But the best was the host, Mr. Bungo, he was extremely friendly, helpful and patient. His English proficiency is exceptional and he really knows his city and surrounding area well. Especially the village of Shirakawa ;-)
Chiyo-san was a wonderful host, who explained everything we needed to know very clearly (especially the instructions for leaving or coming back to the guesthouse late at night/early in the morning). She has designed such a beautiful place and her husband has created a peaceful garden to look out on while planning your day ahead. We loved the vintage furnishings and the chance to spend the night on futon in a traditional tatami room.
Traditional japanese style - ryokan! Hot spring! Breakfast and dinners are serving in very nice style! Personal is very helpful! You can take bus every morning to the Kanazawa at 9:19 or ask personal to arrange the taxi.
Authentic ryokan yet very foreigner-friendly. Immerse yourself in a traditional Japanese house and enjoy the onsen, the sleep on the futon and a tasty local breakfast. Definitely worth trying out!
our family had a wonderful and relaxing stay here. We got to experience a stellar Ryokan experience with wonderful Japanese hospitality. Meals were delicious and filling and the onsen was lovely. Waking up in the tatami room to the window view of greenery and Sakura was really nice. the staff were also polite, friendly and very caring! kudos to the team
Central yet tranquil location. Lovely little Ryokan that is friendly, welcoming and well worth a stay. Charming authentic tatami mat room and comfortable futon.
Good location, really friendly staff, meals were good too. No complaints overall about the experience as I booked it only to experience what a ryokan is like, including futons on tatami, which wasn't for me.
