The scenery was amazing snow capped mountains and emerald green lake. The wildlife preservation was wonderful and a must is eating at Yukon restaurant great prices for big portions. Having a car to do day trips everyday was fabulous
location along the Yukon river was great., we loved the easy walking access to many places; enjoyed touring the museums, art galleries, Yukon brewery
Lots to experience. Vibrant and colourful. Gold Rush History, Yukon River landscape, First Nations and more. Tourist Information Centre - a must. The Parks Canada walking tour in town was excellent. Definitely drive ( or hike ) up to the Midnight Dome. Great views. River Cruise was enjoyable - excellent commentary.
We visited Dawson City during a 3400 mile road trip of Alaska and the Yukon Dawson City is a credit to every who lives there works there in maintaining its character , our stay was very short but awesome. Thank Dawson . UK senior citizens .
Whitehorse is situated between mountains and on the Yukon River and we personally found it spectacular. The cultural center and museum are a must see. Downtown Main Street has a lot to offer for tourists and local artisans goods. Many good places to eat. Klondike Salmon and Rib , Burnt Toast cafe and G&P.
There is something magical for me about the Yukon. I would hope you think about the amount of energy and resources to get the Gold! And the men and women that built the Alaska Highway.
Although the Yukon Tourist Info and Parks Canada are in the same building, they do not coordinate their info. The Yukon info didn't include free tickets to Dredge #4 that were available at Parks Canada. We drove 25 minutes to the Dredge only to be told there about the free tickets. 3 seniors on a budget drove back to Dawson City for our free tour tickets! Some tourist sites were only open for 1 hour because the staff rotates between the sites in town. Definitely need more staff for these historic sites.
I didn't want to do a big driving road trip on my own (too much driving and not enough enjoying!) so I used Whitehorse as a base for 7 nights while I explored in various directions each day. Several very good restaurants, and a comprehensive saverstore for grocery shopping ... the visitor information centre staff were delightful and really helpful, even lending me a can of bear spray to take hiking - since you can't take it on a plane, this is an ideal way of supplying yourself with something that you will hopefully never need to use. Give it back before you leave! There are lots of interesting establishments in Whitehorse itself (easily found by use of the internet) which I won't detail. This is a great location for striking off down to Carcross or over to Haines Junction and the Yukon River is an impressive force running through the town (do the free historical nature walk from the Miles Canyon suspension bridge run by Yukon Conservation Society - not too long and very enjoyable and informative)
Loved the Muktuk Adventure where We met the huskies & enjoyed a delicious meal. There is a pick up from accommodation. The Cultural centre is very interesting & a nice walk along the banks of the Yukon.
This town is a step back in time that is totally connected to the 21st century. The historic make up of the town from the end of the 19th century makes it unique and original. The surrounding Yukon River valley provides ample opportunity for nature lovers. The crazy northern spirit will appeal to the those who love life to the fullest. An absolute must of you want to truly know Canada!
Haines Junction
I stayed in the cabin which was a basic standalone cabin with a double bed and that's about it! But the bed was comfortable and the room was warm, which was what I needed after a lot of cold nights camping round Yukon and Alaska! The hostel is super friendly and has a well-equipped kitchen, dining room and upstairs a little living room. It's like staying with a good friend who has given you the run of their house for a few days. Walking distance to everything in Haines Junction, including the lovely Dezadeash trail.
Whitehorse
Very quite and comfortable room and bed. The host Marcel was always helping me if I needed a recommendation or advice for traveling the area (e.g. hiking advices). He knows the place for a very long time, is very open-minded and likes to share stories and recommendations for Whitehorse, Yukon and Canada as a whole. I had many interesting conversations with him and it was nothing but a pleasure staying there! Thanks again, Marcel!
Whitehorse
The apartment was in a very good location. It was stocked perfectly with lots of condiments & pots/pans for cooking. The place was very clean. The owner had kindly left us some Yukon wine, beer & popcorn for us celebrating our recent we engagement which was very thoughtful. Also, very good communication with the owner - whenever I had a question it was answered straight away.
The hotel location is good, being downtown and close to the Yukon River pathway. The hotel is a bit dated. It is not an "elite" facility, despite its name. Our room with two beds was large. The beds are reasonably comfortable and the rooms are generally clean (notwithstanding finding several pieces of dog kibble on the floor and some plastic food containers under the bed).
The Raven is situated adjacent to the Yukon River walk and close to Shipyards Park that had a beautiful display of Christmas lights, which made for a very enjoyable evening stroll. The Hotel has a very nice little restaurant where we enjoyed the service and the breakfast. It is also situated close to several down town stores and restaurants.
Very kind and customer friendly service in the hotel reception. The hotel and our room were very clean. Excellent breakfasts prepared by fantastic Mr Paco and his lovely wife. Absolutely best omelettes we enjoyed in the whole Yukon . Extraordinary kind and professional service of the whole staff. Thank you and welcome to Finland any day!
It was a cute, cozy hostel in the shadow of the Yukon mountains. It was quiet at nice and peaceful to wake up to see the morning mountain fog. The staff (the two of them) were wonderful and always a pleasure to talk to. All around amazing, wonderful experience. I am staying here next time, no hesitation.
Teslin
Great staff! This is a simple hotel in the Yukon, so it's not upscale, but it was really comfortable and safe. The staff are attentive. The room was very clean. Everything was just fine and a great value for the money.
Friendly and helpful staff with good location. Walking distance to Yukon river and a great coffee shop.
Perfect location, clean and nice shower
A beautiful property in a tranquil setting. The accommodations were excellent. Just what we needed for the last night of our Dempster Highway odyssey.
It was close to downtown with a Catholic church nearby and some restaurants also. Beds were great and comfortable, like they had memory foam or something else.
I loved everything about this place, very warm and comfortable, the staff was super lovely and welcoming, they recommended some places that were amazing. The room was comfortable and as seen in the pictures. I would highly recommend this place for a get away
Beautiful views and lovely cabins!
The view was breathtaking, definitely something you do not get to see every day. The staff was so kind and made the stay that much more enjoyable. Food was delicious and the breakfast buffet was very convenient.
Very friendly staff at the front desk. The young lady helping us was very friendly en helpful. she even returned a extra night of parking fee which we accidently booked. A+ Pretty also :-)
Loved that they had AC. Very clean, coffee maker in room. Good location. Helpful staff.
